BAdler
Okay, so as an Obsidian developer and frequent lurker of these forums, I have run into postings that funcroc has made throughout the years. Some of the stuff I see him post is completely obscure and information that is fairly unknown by the general public. I am constantly amazed at the level of detail that funcroc is able to pull out of seemingly inconsequential documents floating on the internet. So, I have come to a few conclusions: 1. funcroc is a machine and/or advanced bot - I am not sure how likely this is. It would explain the amount of data that he finds, but I am not sure that robotics and AI have progressed to the funcroc level. I give this about a 15% chance of being true. 2. funcroc is a government agent - Only someone who has access to Echelon could possibly find out some of this information. Maybe he is part of the NSA or CIA. I give this a good 25% chance of being true. 3. funcroc is a developer here at Obsidian - This could be true. I am looking at you Anthony Davis! I give this about a 40% chance of being true. 4. funcroc is just a normal human being with no connections to the government or Obsidian - I refuse to believe that this is a real possibility, but I guess I will give it a 20% chance (just to make my numbers round out). I am still putting my money on funcroc being a dev or someone related to a dev. Anyway, the whole point of this is that I wanted to challenge funcroc and his masterful data collection skills. If he is able to answer these questions I will think of something awesome to send him (well, if he sends me his address). Maybe a signed copy of DS3 or something. Question 1: What is my middle name? Question 2: I have two sports team hats that I wear regularly. What teams are they? Question 3: Where was I stationed in the military? Question 4: I have a monthly lunch with three other developers. What are their names? Question 5: What's my credit score? No, seriously, I need to check this.
Nightshape
Funcroc's old man... I'm sure I remember him from like the BIS days, he's been around for years and years. I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM! Nightshape
My vote is on an Obsidian ex-dev. Who just wants to come back home I dunno about that. Obsidian usually have a few roles going, its mostly visa issues stopping people, its a bloody nightmare... Hey if they're willing to sponser VISA's etc... I'd be over like a shot. I think funcroc is just some dude who's been following the core talent for a long time, the sort of stuff he digs up is the kind of thing that a fan who is a dev could certainly get his hands on easy enough... I ain't sure he's an Obsidian employee's alt though, I may be way out of like, its probably one of Mr Josh's. Who knows. funcroc does a great job though at digging stuff up - so kudos. I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM! Gorth
I'm not sure Funcroc actually reads the WoT forum though. On the other hand, two developer names now features in this thread now, so it might trigger something (once he is done checking the content of your fridges and garbage bins) “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Walsingham
Well option four, 'normal person' is clearly out. He's here, after all. Seems pretty clear to me that he's an advanced corporate AI who developed a fixation on Obsidian by becoming romantically interested in Fallen From Grace. "It wasn't lies. Gromnir
We should probably PM him. I don't think he reads the WoT forum... If funcroc is as good as I am giving him credit for, he should be able to detect that there is a thread going on about him on this forum. ... am not seeing as "good" per se. once funroc started monopolizing the obsidian general portion o' the fora, we assumed that funroc were an obsidian alt. no offense, but am finding it hard to believe that anybody would genuinely care enough to hunt down the info-bytes he/she (seems masculine, but you can never be certain) finds unless he/she were somehow connected to obsidian... past or present. "good" only applies if funroc is not having a connection with obsidian. after all, is not so hard to Find info if you know such info exists, and you already know where to look. however, if funroc is an ordinary (albeit somewhat snarky and dismissive... not that we is complaining) poster who has an inordinate interest in the comings-and-goings o' obsinaties, then we concede that his efforts is impressive... if a little disturbing. Tigranes
It's ok, Grommy, we think you're more disturbing. BTW, if he IS from Obsidian, is an offer of DS3 enough to bring him out? Gromnir
It's ok, Grommy, we think you're more disturbing. disturbing or disturbed? is a subtle but important distinction, no? in any event, am not actually wanting an answer related to funroc identity. the info he/she provides is sometimes interesting, nevertheless, as much as we suspect that he/she is an obsinatie, it would be kinda disappointing to know that an obsinatie were responsible for plethora o' the Look-At-Obsidian posts on the general board. am thinking that the question o' funroc identity would most intrigue an obsinatie, and as Gromnir is not... *shrug* HA! Good Fun! Enoch
Meh. Is the amount of time and effort required to do what funcroc does (set up google alerts on all confirmed Obsidz staff and follow the right people on twitter) really all that much greater than, say, the people who volunteer to be moderators on this forum? The world is full of people who put unusual effort into things that most of the world outside of them would consider strange.
