Guest Slinky
If you are like me and been waiting sales for DLC before buying, Dead Money is $5 in GameStop It gave some weird file to download, but I just put the key they e-mailed to steam and it accepted it just fine. CoM_Solaufein
Anyone play this in Hard Core mode? I've been thinking about it whenever I start a new game but haven't gone through with it yet. Starwars
I always play with Hardcore mode on. While the eating/drinking stuff is basically a non-issue, the healing over time with stims is a nice change. Plus, I just enjoy the extra layer of management that comes with the food, drink, doctor's bags and all that. CoM_Solaufein
I saw ammo has weight. Guess I won't be buying and lugging around every ammo type I find, same goes with weapons. Lexx
The ammo weight never really hindered me in anything. It's just not possible to carry lots of rockets 'n stuff, but that's all. LadyCrimson
Certain ammo was actually fairly heavy, but I think they may have changed that now. Anyway, unless one likes to wander the wastes for hours and hours without ever going back to/walking by a town/merchant to restock, not usually a big issue. I'm not a fan of HC mode personally, but I understand why some/many are. To me it adds nothing to difficulty of the game, it's just more time-micromanagement and I do enough OCD things in non-HC as it is...much more and I'd never actually be shooting/questing. lol “Things are as they are. To me it adds nothing to difficulty of the game, it's just more time-micromanagement I agree with you, but I found HC mode modded for my liking great, not going to play non-HC anymore. I modded the timescale so that the days are twice as long and the needs to fit that. I'm also using a mod that makes you able to fill water bottles from water sources. With those I have never ran out of water or food, but I still need to keep my eyes on them.
CoM_Solaufein
I just installed one of those HUD mods so I can keep track of my stats easier. I'll have to read the game guide to see what it says about HC mode and the micromanagement stats. Lexx
Anyway, unless one likes to wander the wastes for hours and hours without ever going back to/walking by a town/merchant to restock, not usually a big issue. That sounds a bit harsh. That ammo has weight has some influence on the game, but the influence really is not that heavy, as long as you don't go for rockets and rifle grenades, etc. You do not have to walk to merchants all the time, you do not need to go back to your house all the time and get more ammo or switch the weapon, etc. Of course I can only speak for myself, but with around 100 of ammo for a weapon (if it's not a minigun), I can hold out pretty long and if you don't carry every possible weapon and armor with you, there is more than enough room for even more ammo. Especially guns like the Cowboy Repeater, Trail Carbine, Pistols, etc. do not need massive ammounts of ammunition and even if you run out of your favourite ammo, there is plenty of alternative stuff in the gameworld that can keep you running. If you really need more supplies, normally a merchant is close to every quest hub, which can be reached even faster with fast traveling. :> You just have to clean up your inventory every once in a while and that should be all. Ask yourself if you really have to carry every weapon with you and if you really need a type of each armor and if you really need 2000 leads in your pocket and so on and so on. If you strike out everything you only need every once in a while or just reduce it by half, there should never be a problem with your carry weight in "hardcore"-mode. Of course, if you have only a STR of less than 4, it will become a problem. Edited July 13, 2011 by Lexx "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die." LadyCrimson
Eh? I'm not sure what I said that was harsh. In essence my brief statement is agreeing with you...that ammo weight isn't much of an issue in most cases. However, while I don't use energy weapons, there were some ppl who complained about weight of some of the energy ammo...but as I said before, that might've changed in one of the patches. Dunno. ...*wiki check* - according to the wiki MF cells are still .10 weight. So if you like energy weapons, that could be a larger factor, since some of those weapons use 2-5 cells per shot. Many bullet rounds, for instance, only have .029-.060 weight and don't use up 2,3, or 5 per shot. That's a fairly big difference. Nothing insurmountable, but more of an inconvenience perhaps. But like I said, I don't use energy weapons/can't say from experience. Edited July 13, 2011 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are. Pidesco
New Vegas was the second best seller on Steam, last week, right behind Portal 2. A nice benefit from the Summer sale, although I don't know how much of this revenue is going back to Obsidian. http://www.bluesnews.com/s/123508/steam-top-10 "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
