Orchomene Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 It's an issue FO3 already had with companions dropping weapons. Other case that may provoke a companion drop its given weapon in FO3 was damaged weapons by enemies. I avoid giving companions unique weapons and if I do so, I check before saves if the companion has still the weapon. If not, load back.

Tale Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Sadly the companion levelling/skills didn't get fixed in this one. I wonder how long until the next increment. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
LadyCrimson Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Fix: Controls temporarily disabled after reloading Cowboy Repeater while crouched Ohhhh so that was a bug? I just thought it had some kind of reload delay for the weapon. lol! Well, cool. Fix: Severe performance issues with DirectX. Hm. Wonder what those issues were. Companions now show up as waypoints on the map That's nice for the more casual players, definitely. Saw many posts where ppl didn't find anyone but Boone until way late in the game. ...if they do fix the companions skill scripting, it'll be very interesting to see how much it really does affect them. Personally I don't think it will that much overall, except for Boone's low-level super OP'd. They're still aimbots who will always far out-beat the player in speed & accuracy while shooting/fighting. I tried lowering Boone's Luck to 1 & his END to 5 in GECK and he was definitely less durable/accurate overall but he's still a beast at low levels because of the skill number bug I guess, so I put him back to original. “Things are as they are. Saw many posts where ppl didn't find anyone but Boone until way late in the game. I don't believe that's what the fix is for. It's for after you hire them in case you forget where you left them or get parted for some unforseen reason that isn't fixed by the fast travel fix. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
LadyCrimson Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Oh...I see. I've never had them get lost via Fast Travel etc. so that didn't occur to me. Would make sense! “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Reporting that the new patch does NOT make my need for the .dll fix go away, as some websites are saying it might. Tried removing the .dll and in Red Rock (or any area that has a lot of objects/partially underground objects like rocks), in certain spots fps still dipped into the low 20's or worse. Put the .dll back in, goes back up to 60-70fps. Oh well. “Things are as they are. Niten_Ryu Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I noticed that latest patch 1.1.1 only increased my crashes. Previously I crashed about once a hour but now it's more like every 20 mins. Let's play Alpha Protocol My misadventures on youtube.
CoM_Solaufein Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Still hasn't fixed those random crashes. Nothing like a hard lock up on the PC. Guest Slinky Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) Steam just downloaded a new smaller patch but I can't find any changelog, any idea what it did? Bugs I got on my playthrough: -Passive mode on companions didn't seem to work -Crashes, 50h gameplay and about ~20 or so crashes -Motor Runners helmet wasn't removed from invernory when I brought it to NCR -There was a Follower at the strip who suddenly ran to me and asked have I reconsidered her job offer even though I had never seen her before -Rex went missing after sending him to Lucky 38, never saw him again. Can't remember anything else, by the look of things I was lucky. And whats with the mouse acceleration? My heart missed a beat when I noticed it, thank god there was a way to get rid of it. WorstUsernameEver Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Steam just downloaded a new smaller patch but I can't find any changelog, any idea what it did? This came with essential enemies. They fixed that. That's about it.
LadyCrimson Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Fix: Controls temporarily disabled after reloading Cowboy Repeater while crouched I now have this bug, since getting the 1.2 tiny update. Before I only had a slight delay before I could fire after reloading sometimes, but controls didn't freeze. Now when I reload they do freeze, and not just when crouched. Also, I couldn't reinstall the older version from Steam's backup, since Install from Backup wants me online/steam to work, and then it installs the new stuff at the same time. This is why I prefer systems that allow me to do my own patching w/separate patch files.. Sigh. “Things are as they are. mkreku Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Ok, so I tried to play this game right now. Of course, Steam took like five minutes to log onto. Then I got an auto-patch running. It took probably ten minutes to download 16MB of data (did I mention that I hate Steam's servers?)! And what do you think happens after I've waited for it to finish: WTF DOES THAT MEAN?! IT'S ON MY ****ING HARDDRIVE! Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Tale Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 First thing to try is almost always exit steam then relaunch it. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
mkreku Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Oh. That worked. What do you mean overreacting? Shut up. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
CoM_Solaufein Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 That did it now my patience has come to an end. Now I have crashes when exiting dialogs which I never had until that stupid patch forced itself to download. Blake at the Crimson Caravan after buying stuff and exiting the dialog window it it stutters for a few seconds and crashes. Did this four times until it stopped crashing. Went to the junkyard for ED-E's quest, talked to the old woman and when I exited the dialog window, it stuttered and crashed five times until finally the scripting for ED-E must have kicked in correctly and he relayed a message. Judging by what is said here and at Bethesda's forums, you would think the Q&A department was non-existent. I can forgive stupid graphical glitches, broken minor quests and other little things but not crashes that make the game unplayable. This is almost comparable with Pool of Radiance 2 when it comes to unplayability. Steam sucks for forcing patches to download not to mention having to use it to install the game. Whatever happened to games being installed by DVD, disk check to verify that you don't have a pirate copy and patches that allow the user to decide if they want it installed or not. If this is the course Bethesda and Obsidian are taking for future games, well I guess I won't be buying them any more. WorstUsernameEver Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 If you don't want patch downloading themselves you could set the option in Steam, you know.
CoM_Solaufein Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Where? I don't know anything about Steam as well as other paying customers probably don't either. WorstUsernameEver Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Where? I don't know anything about Steam as well as other paying customers probably don't either. Right click on Fallout: New Vegas line on Steam -> Properties -> Updates -> by default it's set on 'Keep this game updated' (or something like that, I have Italian set as my language for Steam) and there's obviously another option to not automatically update the game. Simple.

LadyCrimson Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) I'd like to confirm that doesn't work for me, either. As soon as I went into online mode, Steam auto-downloaded the patch, despite my having that setting checked. Edit: also, that Boone now acts buggier/crazier than before, since the patch. Nothing major, but he goes melee a lot more often (draws it for a few seconds then suddenly switches to his rifle) and graphical glitches like his rifle being upside down or stuck to his chest when he holsters it. Last time, completely uninstalling the game and re-downloading it from Steam helped (not from backup) but I don't feel like spending an hour+ waiting for the download yet again. mkreku Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 My Steam keeps forcing me to accept their EULA every second time I start a game.. It claims it's recently been updated. In 2005. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
LadyCrimson Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Since I can't use the cowboy effectively at the moment, I gave it to Boone, thinking he'd be fine with it. But the bug seems to affect Boone as well...it doesn't freeze my controls, but when I give it to him to use, he fires his shots, reloads, then crouches for long seconds as if stuck...it's actually quite funny. “Things are as they are. Gfted1 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 How/when are these patches downloaded? I ask because theres been what, two patches already, and Ive never seen my Steam or FO game actually downloading and installing anything. Ive never seen a patch download screen like mkreku linked so Im not sure anythings been patched. I tried looking in my Library and didnt see anything obviously asking me to "update" or anything like that so does it just do it in the background?
