Well, that topic got me qute interested so I decided to register. :]

 

LoF: The thing is that I'm from Poland and I know probably a bit more about history of my country than you, and the problem is than you are terribly mistaken. Your political opinions, as i suppose (because it's quite common for people with your way of thinking), comes from knowing just partial facts and trying to fit them together so that they will make any sense. It's that simple, nearly every person like you starts to think this way due to lack of knowlegde. And I can help you quite easily too, because one of a great number of benefits of not living in communist country is that you have free access to knowledge and no propaganda will make it harder for you to understand. You just have to start being a bit open-minded for facts and here they are

 

- I recommend that you read something about Katyn massacre before you start speeking about it, so the easiest way to do this is to read that:

And Katyn massacre was actually act of betrayal.Yes, we and ZSRR were officialy one of allies forces, and people killed in Katyn weren't any "so-called Polish resistors against Soviet imperialism", because they thought that ZSRR are actually coming to help them against germany. So they were told not to shoot at Soviet soldiers. Soviet soldiers were the first to shoot, so how can you not at least try to ressist in such a situation? They we're captured and send to Katyn (wich btw. means something like "Butcherness" in polish so Soviets had some "dark humour" too) and killed 1 year later.

It's never to late to start learning history and stop being ignorant. If you don't believe Wikipedia you can always check some books...

I've never openly criticised the moderation on this forum since the day I signed up, but your collective indulgence of LoFs blatant trolling is out of order. Re-read some of his posts, gloating about a tragic and fatal accident. Then try swapping 'Stalin' for Hitler and try on his posts for size, because for a lot of folks in Eastern Europe the two are pretty much the same thing.

Why don't we equivocate some more stuff like this? "What if you swap out the word 'Turkey' for 'Nazi Germany'? See how that looks bad?" We can apply it to anything. Stalin is not Hitler. A lot of crypto-fascists out of the Baltic like to pretend otherwise, but that's because they're rightist scum.

The USSR and Poland were never allied. The Poles had a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union and the Poles were told it would be considered null and void if they participated in the Occupation of Czechoslovokia - which they then did.

No, he is, at least on that one point, correct, though he could not be more wrong on Katyn itself, and frankly the idea of defending Katyn is baffling in the extreme. The USSR and Nazi Germany were never allied as there is a fundamental difference between a non aggression pact and an alliance (and Wikipedia, poor source as it is, agrees with that distinction)- the M/R Pact had none of the usual features of an alliance such as mutual defence, it was simply an agreement to not attack each other. If agreeing to a partition- the most 'alliance' like part of the agreement- mandates an alliance then Britain and France (and... Poland) were also allied to Germany via the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia.
