You can change the Steam install directory but only when installing Steam. Make a backup of your steamapps folder, uninstall Steam, reinstall Steam, select a HD or partition with more free space, install there, then move your steamapps backup there. December 18, 200916 yr Just over 26GB. I generally order disk versions of the big, new games. Most of the stuff I buy from Steam is smaller (World of Goo, Machinarium) or older (Deus Ex, The Longest Journey, Bloodlines). A big hunk of that 26GB is Empire: Total War, which installed in the Steam folder despite coming off a disk.
