vault_overseer Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Well, the first MW made a lot more sense.
Purkake Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I remember something about nukes, the Russians and monochrome Chernobyl. Mostly I remember shooting things and stuff blowing up, does anyone really care about the story in these games?
vault_overseer Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Yeah, I thought it was a fun story driven shooter
Purkake Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 It was more of a bunch of cool levels where you play like at least 5 different characters that might have had a vague connection to one another. HL2 is a story-driven shooter if there is such a thing.
vault_overseer Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Two characters, Soap and that american marine. The story was very solid, if you bothered to pay attention.
Purkake Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 You had The dude that died at the beginning after the car ride, the dude who was in Chernobyl, the dude who died in the helicopter crash/nuke and the aircraft gunner dude in addition to those two. I don't remember it being "solid" but I did play it a while ago.
alanschu Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Sgt. Jackson was the guy in the helicopter still.

alanschu Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 We get it, you don't like EA. I'm sure you're privy to all the information that clearly demonstrates how this is 100% EA's fault. I'm sure that EA is responsible for the issues that came up with The Dark Knight as well.

Kaftan Barlast Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Merchandise games never* get AAA treatment so that wasnt much of a surprise. They know that we know that they're only trying to peddle crap in order to make money by exploiting a known IP, so why bother to make it good? *except for Wolverine, where Ravensoft just went nuts and did a real game DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Gfted1 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 'Call of Duty' tops records with $550M in sales Nov 18, 2:45 PM (ET) SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - Activision Blizzard's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" took in a record $550 million worldwide during its first five days on sale, according to internal company figures. That tops the previous record of just over $500 million set by "Grand Theft Auto IV" last year. The latest in the "Call of Duty" video game franchise went on sale Nov. 10 and quickly started breaking records. It hauled in $310 million in North America and the United Kingdom alone during the first 24 hours, making it the biggest-selling launch in the history of entertainment. The five-day figures also beat records set by other media. After "Grand Theft Auto IV," comes the $394 million in box office sales brought in by the movie "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," Activision says. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"

WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 Is it me or do players die ridiculously fast in multiplayer? Seems like the whole thing is about who sees who first. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Huh, I guess they did make it like modern combat then Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
