HoonDing Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Are those agonizingly long cutscenes in jRPGs skippable? If not, they surely destroy the stereotype of the console kiddies with short attention spans. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Pidesco Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 While I second Llyranor's recommendation of Last Remnant, I'd say it's best to play it on the PC. Syraxis Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 FUN turned based gaming is just what I like. Same, I desperately want to see this game localized. Even if its only the PSP version (in the very least anyway.)
Majek Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Last Remnant is crap. Combat system is not system at all is just randomness. Not to mention the annoying main character and stupid story. It all looks appealing at first glance, woo unions, different kinds of units but once you delve into it more you realize how crappy it really is. Edited October 7, 2009 by Majek 1.13 killed off Ja2.

Purkake Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Can't you be Steam-neutral and just not irrationally hate something because of a single bad experience?
Majek Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Steam is pure evil. They hate modders so we hate steam 1.13 killed off Ja2.
Pidesco Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Why? Just wondering. It's turn based right? What would make it better on the PC? From what I've seen the 360 version is very buggy, poorly optimized, and has less features than the PC version. Also, the balance was apparently improved. http://lastremnant.wikia.com/wiki/Differen..._and_PC_version "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.

Llyranor Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Technically, the PC version is much better, and it even has an awesome feature to speed animations 5x. *However*, the 360 version is still fine if you install it, it's just that the PC version is better. Not convinced that it's been better balanced, though. From speaking to people who've played *both* versions, the PC version is quite easier (I guess if that's what you consider balanced, it is). One very significant change is that the leader limit has been removed (whereas the 360 version has a limit which increases as you progress through the game), which has a pretty significant impact on how you manage your units (why use generic soldiers when you can just use leaders who are better at everything? the mechanic of switching soldiers in and out depending on your tactical needs is made more irrelevant, and the game plays more like a JRPG where you just level up party members). The balance's been balanced to accommodate that, but seemingly not enough to provide as good a challenge. You're still better off getting the PC version. I just really dislike that single change, given how important it was in the 360 version. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Pidesco Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Yeah, the generic soldiers are made useless by that change. However the huge number of different leaders at your disposal still gives you a healthy dose of choices to balance that. Also, the game is as challenging as you want it to be. There are loads of unique, optional beasties that are pretty hard to take out. Oh, and DO NOT forget that you can skip the plot.
