Oner Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Forecast of ****storms today - word is, Paris news crews caught footage of an Alpha Protocol agent on a mission gone bust. I'd presume it's referring to the GTTV footage, given it ends with Thorton getting, well, busted. And if it were set in Paris... IIRC it's in Rome. Sannom Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Wasn't the yacht mission in Saint Petersburg? I think it's set in Russia...
Oner Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Anyhow, it's not in Paris. Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.
Gorth Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 It didn't specifically say "Mike Thorton", only "an Alpha Protocol agent". Maybe any of the Obsidianites has been to Paris lately? Edit: "Orientation training sandbox again for second-stage drills. Sandbox stage has a PR evaluator, who tracks our "visible presence" in-mission."... that was two days before Matthews Rories post about new PR agent Edit2: "Not sure who leaked the Beta Protocol news, superiors are classifying it under Operation: Constantinople. Not Istanbul. Constantinople. " Rumour thread “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Oner Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I still don't get the Constantinople/Istanbul joke. Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.
Sannom Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 The Sega employee who talked about AP2 is named Constantine, hence Constantinople. The Istanbul reference is there to nail the point that it is NOT a reference to the city, because if so they would have named the operation with the current name of the city. You've never heard that joke? "I've had breakfast in Byzantium, lunch in Constantinople and dinner at Istanbul, and yet I haven't moved all day!"?
Oner Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I don't think so, no. Thanks tho. Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.
Enoch Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) I still don't get the Constantinople/Istanbul joke. Have you somehow lived you life without having heard this song? (Or the probably-more-well-known cover?) Edited February 1, 2010 by Enoch
Oner Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Yes. Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.
Sannom Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I hope you had some history lessons in your "youth"? Constantinople's history was a good chunk of the Crusades' era when I was in my equivalent of the high school.
Oner Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 .... No, I'm an illiterate retard who doesn't know what Constantinople is. Hint: We never got specifically taught that Constantinople=Istanbul (kinda irrelevant to Hungarian history which unsurprisingly, was regarded as a bit more important than Istanbul's) and years later I didn't exactly feel an unquenchable urge to compare medieval and present day world maps millimeter by millimeter. So sue me and sorry for daring to ask. Sannom Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Sorry for that, it was uncalled for Another twitt about Paris : Still doing damage control on the Alpha Protocol agent in Paris - apparently, they cut him loose for real, not just in name. Either a french website is going to get a new trailer soon, or Paris is the last, "hidden" hub of the game
Oner Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Sorry for that, it was uncalled for No problem. Another twitt about Paris : Still doing damage control on the Alpha Protocol agent in Paris - apparently, they cut him loose for real, not just in name. Either a french website is going to get a new trailer soon, or Paris is the last, "hidden" hub of the game While I wouldn't mind a trailer (hey, we have to get by somehow till the game comes out), I don't think he'd use agent as an analogy. Training video or some such seems likelier. Pop Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Maybe it has something to do with SEGA Europe, or their old PR agency. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
mrmumbles Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Maybe it has something to do with SEGA Europe, or their old PR agency. The agent being cut loose could easily be the PR agency.

Sannom Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm not going to get a localized version of the game? That would be weird...
funcroc Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 http://twitter.com/MikeThorton/status/9148128216 "Still awaiting deployment, looks like come early spring, the thaw's going to be over."
Pop Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Sounds like a PR push fairly soonish. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
mrmumbles Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Sounds like a PR push fairly soonish. Seconded.
vault_overseer Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 So what happened? Is Sega stopping Mike from writing any more?
mrmumbles Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I'd say more that the people in charge of the feed aren't finding new things to write about. We might see a big jump in tweets in the next few months.
Oner Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I for one wouldn't mind a new blog post either. Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.

Sannom Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I think that with Sega now in full PR gear, they asked MCA to stop the twit. Something he must have welcomed in a way since he must be pretty busy on NV right now!
