I was thinking of getting GTA IV to finally play my countryman but I'm still wondering how playable the game is? Everyone I know says it runs horribly, so has anybody any idea how it would run on my rig?

No idea, but I'd overclock that C2D to the high heavens.

No need so far, even Crysis runs on maximum in 1680 by 1050, well above 35fps.

But you could run it at 60fps...

I get what you're saying, its just that there's three games a year that use even this hardware, and they for the most part aren't worth playing

...I finally get the cash to buy a good rig, only to find out that there's nothing to run on it :)

I have a E6600 C2D rith a 8800GT 512 graphic card and it runs like butter. A lot of bugs have been fixed since the patches have came out that smooth a lot of it out. I wouldnt worry to much. :p

The patches have made the game run progressively worse for me.. first it just crashed, then after the first patch the game would run at double speed, now it suffers from massive memory leaks.. I wish I'd never wasted money on that game.

Fortune favors the bald.

I ordered Baldur's Gate off Amazon so I look forward to playing that in a couple days. It comes with Tales of the Sword Coast, which I never played, so I'm interested in seeing that.

I never laughed so hard in that one as when I polymorphed a certain NPC into a squirrel, only to have that squirrel burst into a 7' werewolf a minute later. 24.gif

Shame the PC port sucks, cause I'm loving it on my 360. I especially enjoyed The Lost and Damned.

PC Port is good, i would be surprised really if the xbox looks better then the settings i have my PC on. The complaints were mostly because people couldn't max out there settings in the game, due to the dependancy on the CPU. My settings aren't set high at all but it looks great still! :p I just wish it had AA because on a computer monitor unlike a tv one is going to see that easier.

Nah. Polymorphing Firkraag into a squirrel and not realizing that he still has all his abilities in his new form was funny.

Squirrel: Breath Weapon

Squirrel hit <CHARNAME> for 129 damage

My epic BG-TOTSC-BG2-TOB saga seems to have come to an end - a bug with Balthazar battle due to the mods where the conversation keeps looping. No matter, there was only Melissan left. I haven't played a lot of games in the last 6 months, I suspect it'll remain the case until Alpha Protocol if ETW doesn't fix itself.

I reached the city in my game of Baldur's Gate. Kivan and Viconia don't seem to be getting along, I'm wondering if it will come to blows. Viconia rocks, but I do have two clerics (Branwen) so I might have to side with Kivan. I'm keeping Xan as my mage, and boy is he tough to keep alive. He gains like 1 hp each level.

I ended up in Candlekeep at level 4, which was a mistake. I think I'll find an earlier save and tool around BG some more before heading into the later chapters.

I'm going through Watcher's Keep right now. Just hit the third level and that damn maze with the really annoying wild/dead magic zones. I cheated when I first picked up Imoen in Spellhold and used Shadowkeeper to make her a single class thief to give her some better thief abilities before I dualled her over, but I've had to go through most of the game now without access to those thief skills. I'm about 100k experience from unlocking those thief abilities again, then it's on to Kangaxx and blatantly cheating a second Ring of Gaxx with the pickpocket bug. After that I'll have finished everything that I want to do in SoA and I can go move on to ToB.

So its basically a lottery, it might work fine or it might not work at all. I'll just have to get hold of one and try it out on my PC before I buy it.

Except when I ran into a Troll near a Aztec/Mayan pyramid and got slaughtered.

The funny thing about the trolls is that they're one of the easiest enemies in the game! All you have to do is run in really close to it and then circle strafe around it while constantly poking it with your sword. Just make sure to stay behind his back. Trolls turn very slowly so you'll basically be continually backstabbing it. Or, since you're so small compared to them, buttstabbing them.

I'm currently fuming over a corrupted save in the Valley of Mines which fortunately lost me only half an hour of gameplay. I hate redoing things :ermm:

I've gotten to the Black Mesa East "cutscene" in Half-life 2... ugh. So pointless. But I really want to get to that 10000 achievement points mark, so I'll keep playing.

Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I actually thought that was pretty meh the first time around.

It's not really scary, but what mostly got to me where the endlessly spawning zombies (There's a special circle of hell for this). Not to mention the level design is just... weird. There's always a very specific way to go somewhere and searching for it reminds me of those point-and-click adventure games. If I want scary, I'll get the Nightmare house mod.

I need to stop bitching about Half-life 2.

And the second time, and the third... not to mention the episodes. Part 2 was ok but the first one was really boring. Half-life 2 really is tremendously overrated, but it has this weird power to make that 1/100 weird guy really crazy about it without being able to explain why.
