If I had to choose between two actors who always act the same role, I think my preferences would fall on Jackson.

Also, Alien is excellent stuff. One of the best horror/sci-fi movies that combines a strong heroine, a unique creature that not only seems organic and credible (unlike countless of tasteless and cheap creatures in CG) but also teases the player with brief glimpses of itself rather than spoiling it all at once, an almost nihilistic setting, and is genuinely tense.

 

Alien 3 is the worse for me. The only things that prevent me from choosing Alien Ressurection as the worst of the series are a) Ron Perlman, b) the Ripley clone has that personality and edge that the original Ripley had (and then some more), and that was utterly lost in Alien 3, and c) I'm hoping the fifth Alien movie has both Perlman and Ripley kicking Alien ass all over Earth, then making sweet love all over their bloodied carcasses and waking up as the sun dawns to find they are the last people on Earth.

I fully support making Alien 5 into Role-Player's weird sexual fantasy!

I suppose you've remembered that Aliens have acid for blood. It's a minor detail, but your plan may annoy the finicky.

No, simply because Jean-Pierre Jeunet sets the bar a lot higher. He made some of my all time favorites. Well some of everyone's favorites.

 

He really screwed the pooch with those dual wielding space pirates and the gene muppet queen. Therefore if there is a list, any list, and resurrection is on it, it belongs at the bottom.

 

Alien resurrection annoys me years after having seen it. Alien 3 you can just sleep through and be none the worse off.

Alien was a good thriller, a movie that kept you on the edge. I liked it but Aliens had the butt kicking Space Marines and Ripley.

Well, Jean-Pierre did well on Amelie. Which, I suppose, is the antithesis of Aliens.

It's a bit like having Barry Manilov produce a Ghetto Boys album.

I see the protest vote has arrived, as predicted.

Alien all the way. Then goes Aliens and finally alien 3 which also was a very good film despite some freaks sadly criticized it because they want another "Aliens" film..., for the love of the god.

 

And regarding alien resurrection..., I can only say that as a good alien fan for almost 30 years, I feel really embarrased because of this film. The Alien story should have come to its end with Ripley,s death.

Well... call me a freak.

 

Alien 3 was rightly criticized because it failed on just about every level of entertainment as an alien movie EXCEPT visually.

 

As a horror movie it failed because there were no likable characters, and anyone who is remotely likable is killed off very early. Without likable characters a horror movie needs to be a splatter movie with lots of nasty kills. Again, as a splatter movie it was a failure. I ended up rooting for the alien in A3 and it just didn't get to munch enough people. Hell, I think the 'accident' where the explosive is dropped kills more people than the alien.

 

Resurrection, as bad as it was, atleast had some entertainment value.

I have to say, Alien3 has the BEST opening sequence of a movie EVAR. Music, mood, scene. Pure awesome.

 

Sadly, I only watch Alien3 for the opening scene... then I remember the original script... then I cry.
