The PS3 Thread of Butterflies and Lollipops!

Featured Replies

Interesting.

While we're on the subject, what games in the back catalogue would you actively recomend?

Uncharted is great. GTA 4 a must have, and Condemned 2 recommenable, if you like weird and twisted horror-brawlers. I also played The Darkness and Heavenly Sowrd, but didn't really like those. Yeah and that's it. I only own my PS3 since this August.

Bah, no exclusives other than Uncharted then, too bad.

I'm bummed that Haze turned out to be a pile of poop too, I was a fan of the timesplitters games on the PS2.

I'm not playing another game that David Cage dude touches ever again. EVER AGAIN.

I can't say I have much interested in God of War 3, since the series seems to be perceived as more 'shallow' by both NG and DMC fans.

Given that it's already a game version of Romancing the Stone, this isn't really a suprise,

For those interested in SRPGs ('strategy' RPGs, though they're really tactics-based), Valkyria Chronicles takes a new spin on the genre and does a pretty good job at it. Avoid if you're Kaftan, given the anime overtones, and it's not as manly as manly MGS4.

Another PS3 exclusive that looks quite impressive: Demon's Heart

But being developed from a Japanese dev, I expect gorgeous art design, but crap gameplay.

Anything more about this game? It might be something of interest.

I tried out the demo, but this game is totally gay (and unmanly). It's just this anime crap I can't stomach. I mean seriously, 12 year old girl in mini, armed with rifle and giving orders. How stupid is that? Kudos to the nice cell-shading graphics though.

I too cannot enjoy gameplay without projecting myself into the head of the macho meatball who i'm playing. Anything less is unacceptable.

I take a macho meatball any day of the week over a 12 year old soldier-girl in mini. Thank you.

Exactly, gameplay be damned, I REFUSE to enjoy a game unless the main character makes up for my own physical shortcomings. Because I'm manly, yeah! And not at all insecure.

Killzone 2 looks amazing. Seriously, console graphics aren't supposed to look this good. So many small details, so much polish... the PS3 is really shaping up.

I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Valkyria Chronicles is in all probability the second best game on the PS3, after the sheer epicness of Disgaea 3.

You mean, the two games that actually (finally) have me sold on a PS3? Yeah, yeah.

For anyone who cares, trailers (with no gameplay footage -____-)

FFXIII http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43656.html

FFversusXIII http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43655.html

For some reason, FFversusXIII looks more appealing. Maybe because it looks less Final Fantasy-esque than the rest?

It looks completely Nomura, though. Change hair color, and you can see Cloud and Aeris from freaking Advent Children in there

White Engine > CryEngine 2. Those look sick.

I agree with that.

Now, if Squaresoft was managed by people with an actual brain, they might do a whole game with Amano's art instead of Nomura's "let's appeal to the kids and the idiots" style. But, alas, theirs is the kingdom of the flashy and empty CG movies.

They know how to market their games obviously. That takes brains too you know.

All I've seen from FFXIII are CG videos. It's like, they throw out more money for friggin videos than making the actual game. But yeah, it looks totally stupid. Japs and girls will find it good though, I'll stay away from it.

Yeah, I'm sick of those 'games' with 60-min cutscenes where the project lead pretends to be a Hollywood director.
