So, the concensus so far seems to be that a Face Hugger inside a Crate would be a Tyte fit. I could live with that (until I opened the crate) >_

The fact that this thread has filled 17 odd pages merely with variations on and recombinations of sweet, tyte, and crates is somewhat disturbing....

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

No. It's tyte!

Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I wonder how well that'll work on WINE...

I wonder if Obsidian is gonna use NaturalMotion's Euphoria or Morpheme for its animation. Gearbox is using the latter for their aliens game and I seen incredible results in youtube for the usage in GTA 4. With this, its basically the end of ragdoll physics era if the results in youtube is of any indication.

Animation

The alien characters are being animated fully by hand using NaturalMotion's middleware morpheme engine. No motion capture for the xeno's, this is to make them appear more inhuman and more alien like. In the gameplayer preview it was said aliens move impressively. They are fast and agile and hop around the level, grabbing onto pillars and leaping back down to the ground to attack marines by whipping their tails and slashing with their claws. David Carter, director of animation at Gearbox said:-

"NaturalMotion's morpheme is poised to make a huge impact on the animation pipelines at Gearbox Software. Gone are the days of building countless transition and tweening animations, morpheme takes care of it all, while placing the 'look' of AI behaviors complete in the hands of our animators."

Hm. Sounds interesting. Let's see if that holds up during gameplay.

Onyx runs stupid fast on any PC that meets its minimum requirements (hint: when Aliens is released, the min spec will be trivially cheap assuming you don't already have it), for pathfinding or otherwise. The simple fact is that the 360 and PS3 are now several years old, hardware-wise.

This sounds awesome and when it's gonna be released? :) :)

Heh. Hope so.

I seen console ports to PC usually turning out terrible in terms of graphics optimization despite the PC users usually have more powerful Graphics hardware than the console parts.

Just don't ever make it into a shoddy port.

I guess age is starting to show on both consoles. Yep, I too am starting to think of my 80 gig PS3 as "old." Not! There is still so much more potential in these consoles, and I don't believe that the 360 and PS3 have seen their limits yet!

You have to make it run on a 3 yr old PC anyway to have decent sales, hm, I mean a decent number of people pirating the PC version.

*Does a happy dance* :(

Really, really looking forward to see a glimpse of the engine in action. Even if just for the fun of letting the imagination running wild about what other purposes it could be used for (Black Hound/BG3?).

Edit: Even better if it could be used for some "gothic sci-fi" (no idea what the correct term is). WH40k, Bladerunner, Cyberpunk, Syndicate Wars etc. It sounds at least plausible if it can power an Aliens game.

Wait...is that the title screen?

Quick! Somebody figure out what it says beneath the word "Aliens!"

Looks a bit like "Alien Colonies" to me.

Or maybe "Alien Gaslines". :)

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Looks like "Caliente". :)

Oh Jimmy, you were so funny.

Don't let me down.

Hm...the first is a very interesting title, if it is indeed the title...
