I wouldn't call Odysseus a monster hunter. While he offs lots of monster like creatures, he doesn't really go on a hunt for them. He just defeats them to survive.

Edit: I forgot an obvious one: Gilgamesh.

Wow. Lots of obvious ones.

Thanks fellow forumites!

I'm starting research to write an epic story about a monster hunter that roams the world hunting down famous creatures.

This is because I just watched Van Helsing again and I figured it would've been a much better story if the action wasn't limited to one location(dracula's castle and the nearby village). I was also frustrated about Beowulf because I was expecting that movie to show more than just one of his "famous" hunts.

Hmmm. I think Van Helsing had more problems than that.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
