Ok first question, when do I get full control over the Normandy and go wherever I want? Right now I'm wandering a city, looking for evidence of some bad guy's involvement with the Geth

You are where I am, actually. I presume we get full access of the Normandy after completing that quest (and, become a Spectre). Just a hunch.

Yes. You find fist, kill him and take his records. In that process you save this girl and she hands over the information that gets the council to see Saren as a bad guy. You become the first human spectre in existence and the black commander loses his position and you take full control of the Normandy. I haven't checked out the galaxy system yet but I've finished all the quests I could find within the Citadel (which is quite a damn a lot of them, and even more running back and forth). There's probably a few quests here and there that I've missed but I've talked to everyone I've come across thus far and so far I'm up around 5 hours on just the begining of the Citadel. Can't wait to explore the other worlds.

Edit: If you've been playing for longer than 2 hours you should be pretty damn close becuase I got it quite soon and kept doing a bunch of quests while still being a spectre.

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

OMG. I went on this mission to save this dude who was taken hostage from a bunch of biotic users and they are destroyed me. I've had to restart the mission 4 times already. Second time I got to the point where I actually saw the hostage, the other times I've been killed in the opening section. So unbelievably hard.

OMG OMG >:x DAMN UUUU

this fight is super hard it's ridiculous. I can get past the first part now but I'm trying to actually save the hostage but this black man is being completely unreasonable. I mean yeah k2 biotic users got screwed BUT LEAVE THE CHAIRMAN ALONE. He's just a poor white man with a family. :'(

NOOOOOOOO now i cant beat the begining. This is seriously tough. Maybe I'm just gimped or something...but I take cover and I somehow I get nailed with a biotic that makes me go rag doll on the ground. Then they proceed to abuse me with a broomstick until my just a lifeless corpse on a stainless steel cargo bay bleeding and cryings and dead. And Wrex dies so unbeleivably quick and the chick is like ILL AVENGE YOU then rape time ensues and she quickly figures out why should of never gone into the military. Tragic story of my life. :'(

Ok wow. This is seriously starting to get frustrating. I've equiped a good anti-biotic suit. I've used my shield spells on all my guys. I have them take cover in a superior position and I'm able to take like 3 guys out quite quickly. But they use one move that somehow gets me when I'm like behind a wall. They use that then my whole team is on the ground. Then 3 - 4 just slam us with biotics and weapon fire and we all die in like seconds. Edit again: Also changed all my rounds on all my allies weapons and mine to take out organics. I mean maybe i just suck :'(

Yeah I tried a new team and destroyed. Anyways, anyone find a way to kill the thresher maul yet? If you've been to Trebin in the Hades cluster - Antaeus system you'll come in contact with one and probably die.

I haven't been off the Citedal yet.

I have found two quests I really liked - the husband who wants his dead wife's body, and the preaching hanhar. Very, very nice.

Honestly I'd really recommend getting your charm up, if you want to be a good cop, or intimidate, if you wanna be renegade, before you do certain quests like those. Trust me, I did a lot of quests like these before I had any charm/intimidate skill points at all and missed out on a ton of interesting dialogue choices and of course tons of Paragon/Renegade points. As far as I know the points don't really do anything for you achievement wise however they might give you better standing within your team giving you extra xp and stuff in the long run.

Edit: Also if anyone has been wondering, because I sure have, about prestige classes they are confirmed.

Basically you have:

Basically there are 6 prestige classes however they are little more than an extension of your current class. They just augment your class to make it slightly better such as an increase in shotguns/biotics/electronics/etc. They don't make you some super agent just a tad better than what you were before.

Stolen from another site:

Specialized Classes

You put ranks in these specialized class talents to get passive improvements in specific areas. Shock trooper is ideal for me.

Shock Trooper (Soldier, Vanguard) - Shock troopers are highly trained killing machines; they excel in all combat situations.

Increase health

Increase damage protection

Improve Immunity (Fitness) *

Improve Barrier *

Improve Adrenaline burst (Assault Training) *

* If applicable. Soldiers don't get Barrier, and Vanguards don't get Fitness*

Commando (Soldier, Infiltrator) - Commandos rely on lethal efficiency and precision strikes rather then brute force to eliminate their opponents.

Increase weapon damage

Improve Immunity (Fitness)

Improve Marksman (Pistol)

Improve Assassination (Sniper Rifle)

Operative (Engineer, Infilitrator) Operatives are masters at manipulating their environment to maximum advantages.

Reduce recharge time for Tech abilities

Improve Overload

Improve Sabotage

Medic (Engineer, Sentinel) Medics combine tech and healing abilities to boost the efficiency of the entire squad.

*These details are sketchy*

Reduce recharge time for healing talents

Improve First Aid

Improve Neural Shock

Nemesis (Adept, Vanguard) The Nemesis is a biotic specialist who uses mass effect fields to inflict heavy damage against opponents.

Increase duration and damage for all biotic abilities

Improve Warp

Improve Lift

Bastion (Adept, Sentinel) Bastions use Biotics for defense or for opponent immobilization.

Reduce recharge time for biotic abilities

Improve Barrier

Improve Stasis (allows you to attack foes in stasis fields!)

*********MAJOR-KIND OF SPOILERS BUT NOT REALLY*********

Now on to how to actually get the classes you have to be at least level 20 and have to have 6 different ranks in your class talent.

Basically once you have got the proper requirements, you travel out of the system you are in and it triggers an alliance communication. You are told to go to the moon (our moon) in our system. You're quest is to go to some moon training facility and then thats pretty much it. You are given your new prestige class and you get 6 extra points to put in your skill tree.

How many side quests are on the citadel?

A LOT. I spent the entire like first 4 hours or so on the citadel doing quests and I've gone back there and did another 2 or so hours of newly acquired quests.

Edit: Oh yeah I got my mission to the moon. Yaaaay

I finally went into the main story and wow was this part really drawn out and long. I mean I finally see how my friend got like 9 levels on me even though I had the game 2 days before him. I was seriously really pissed all the way through and it made me real angry because I didn't have anyone with a competent electronics skills and there were about 15 or so containers that I was unable to get. The mission at the end was pretty cool though, I mean for a mission so early in the game (if you choose) it was some extremely serious stuff that I hope translates into the next game. I won't divulge what happened but I'll say that I let the "Queen Bee" live, however, Ashley didn't think it was a good idea which sucks becuase I'm really itching to bang her into next week if you catch my drift.

That's something I've noticed about this game. It's not like kotor where you can just have a long indepth speech with your companions and get some really good comradery. You're lucky if you can get anything out of them unless it's plot driven which kind of makes me mad. Then again I have only done 1 main quest outside of the very first one you are forced into so I guess I can understand why they aren't very talkative.

I decided to remain in the Citidel before I leave on the Normandy to other planets, where are the sidequest hotspots around the citadel? I'm a bit lost

Pretty much all districts though if I remember correctly c-sec is a good place to start and the quests kind of expand from there to other districts. I mean there are easily 10-15 quests in the begining you can do, you just gotta move around and find anyone you can talk to and then those sometimes expand to a few more quests. Ride the elevator a few times here and there and pick up some outer space missions and you'll be stacked and ready to go for up to 20 hours like me. And when I decided to go to Noveria I still had like 3 quests left in my journal to complete.

The Citedal, as Slug mentions, has tons of side quests. Basiclaly talk to whoever you can, use elevators, and return to talk to people as well (espicially after your first Council meeting).

Also, slight spoiler: After rescuing the one doctor (you'll know who she is quick), leave, and go back at last once more for another quest...

Ok has anyone started romancing anyone yet, I'm sure that's possible isn't it?

Like every Bioware game save BG2, the romance subplots are tied to the main storyline. So you won't progress through them as you go through all the sidequests. As a male, there's Ashley Williams and Liara. I think by default Liara is the squeeze and you have to tell her you want to be friends in order to advance with Ashley, but I haven't tested that assumption or anything. Maybe I missed something. For females there's Kaidan and Liara, I think.

Yeah early in the game I talked to Ashley and she is an extreme rooster tease. I was like playing it real smooth and was like "So I can order you to kiss anyone?" And she was like "That would be against the rule of fraternizing and I'd have you bring you up on charges" or something like that. She's a tough cookie but I'll break her will, sooner or later.

I got my prestige class but in the process I got bombarded by all kinds horribly horribleness. The upside I had the Quarian with me and I was able to get all the containers not to mention the mission was easy, the downside my inventory was so full that I had to omnigel about 20 things through out the mission then towards the end I was FORCED to omnigel 32 items that I just received before I could do anything at all. Some of them looked like I could sell them for quite a bit. So I've decided to head back to the Citadel early and just sell as much stuff as I can then maybe buy some really good gear.

Advice: Don't be a pack rat like me, after a few missions sell what ever excess loot you aren't going to use because it'll really sneak up on you and you'll hit the 140 mark and get warnings left and right and have to omnigel anything new you get once you go over 150.

How do you play Quasar??

I was thoroughly confused as well when I first tried.

http://andrew.j.moylan.googlepages.com/masseffectquasargame

I talked to my companions again and was able to get some really good stuff out of them. I may have gone a bit too fast with Liara but she confessed her undying passion for the heat im packing and Ashely isn't as much as a cold blood turkish prostitute anymore. Awesome character development so far.

Oh yeah, Wrex's story is pretty sweet. Lets just say people get daggered in the chest to death.
