Walsingham Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Off for my first bit of training later today. I am very very apprehensive. I'm too old to get shouted at, dammit. You're joining the reseves or something right? You dont have to go to boot camp for that? The training isnt every day but split into sessions spaced here and there? Yes. But in some ways that makes it harder since you have to adjust to being yelled at. In civvy street I don't get yelled at. I am a happy dwarven character who drinks ale and cooks. I take far too long to turn into an angry dwarf, during which period I am confused and vulnerable. It is not a good idea to be confused or vulnerable in the Army. I should also point out that in the British Army the reserves are nowexpeected to perform at the same standard as the regulars, because we get deployed alongside them. I have been issued my kit now, and my house is full of the smell of boot polish and starch as I prepare it for more use. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.

And above all, don't give them a reason to remember your name." Do that and you will have a much easier time of it! Tale Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) I'm loving my PSP more and more. But, at the same time it's getting more and more expensive. I purchased some $30 earbuds with the only justification for them being so expensive is that they have an in-line remote (pause/play/volume adjustment). A 4 gig Memory Stick Duo cost me $90 (I can find them around $60, so they're not always that expensive). BUT! I now have a very good portable media device. I don't have to deal with crappy formats or DRM with it, either. As well as getting games and demos I can play on my lunch period. TL;DR: I've never owned an iPod or other MP3 player, but I'm using my PSP in that role just fine at work. It's kind of nice. Of course, there's also the downside of not being able to set up playlists. Actually, that's kind of a big downside. I also need to buy a travel case and screen protectors. Things you don't have to worry about with a DS or GBA SP because of the design. Edited October 30, 2007 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Tale Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 And now that I think about it, I could put porn on this thing. Not that I have much use for porn-on-the-go, but just so I can say "hey, I've got porn on this thing." "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Cantousent Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I'm preparing to leave Virginia. I get to go home. I've been gone for damned near a month, and I'm ready to go home. It just seems that I'm never in one place for very long. Even home is just a place I go between travels, and I'm getting tired. Really tired. Today, I'll fly out of Norfolk at 5:45pm. I won't reach Ontario until after 11pm. Good-bye Atlantic. Hello Pacific. I'll be back again in March. Tonight, I'm going home. Tonight, I'm going home. Leave plenty of time for traffic. I64 can be horrendous in the evening rush. My fiancee once missed a flight out of Nawfock (local pronunciation) due to backups on 64 (I was dropping her off). Other than that, it's a decent airport. Have a nice flight. Tonight I have to find an online course to fulfill 2.5 hours of mandatory Continuing Legal Education credit. The VA State Bar refused to credit me for some of the courses I've taken at work, so now I've got to get some last-minute classes in.

Daaave Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I spent the day in college doing a poll on what colour I should dye my hair next. Just walking around asking random people for opinions. Was great fun. Green and Pink are currently joint leaders with a few days of voting left. Tension is building right here. One vote could change everything. Or at least the colour of my hair for the next few months. Same thing really. Just because you're a bit thinner than your even fatter mum it doesn't mean you're in excellent physical shape, if you could fit through the door and view the normal people you'd notice that cheeseburger boy. Squid suck.
theslug Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 My knees are kind of bruised from jui jitsu practice last night. First cardio I've had in an extremely long time and I was dying at the end. Think im going to get an appointment so I can get some asthma stuff since i was seriously about to faint from lack of oxygen. Pretty sweet class though, teacher trained under one of the gracies but the martial art is very technical something I'm not really used to. I'm guessing within 3 months I'll be nice and lean and on my way to being a decent jui jitsu player. Pretty cool stuff tho. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.
Guest The Architect Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Damn it. I was watching the final episode of the final season of The Sopranos, and it was up to the part where Tony, Carmela and Anthony were sitting in some restaurant/bar place and Meadow parks her car, walks across the road and just as she's about to enter the restaurant/bar, umm... the end credits come up, and that's it! The news comes on and it doesn't go back to the show. That is ****ED. I mean, surely that's not how it ends, right? Does anyone here know?

It caused quite a stir when it first aired a few months ago.
Guest The Architect Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Wha-? Well, no wonder it caused a stir. That ending was really, really crap. What a let down.
Sand Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 The ending suppose to represent that nothing will really change in Tony, nor his family. We saw a few years of their lives and things are just going to go on as normal, at least normal for them, regardless if we are watching them or not. Quite innovative in the simplistic in the design compared to other series finales which closure is the cliche. theslug Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) Yeah so the last two jui jitsu classes I've taken after rolling around with some people in matches my head has been in excruciating pain to the point where I can't continue. After looking through endless amounts of 30 seconds of webmd my first assumption of having a brain aneurysm has been confirmed. I mean at first I was joking then I was like well it's most likely that I'm not conditioned in cardio at all and I used to have asthma as a child and I have horrible sinus's and allergies and I just wasn't getting enough air but nope. It's an aneurysm so when I go tomorrow for 2 hours I probably won't return back here ever again becuase I'll either die or go into a coma. :'( god i h8 my life //_- Edited November 1, 2007 by theslug There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. Tigranes Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I went to a rehearsal for a wedding, since I'm managing all audiovisual equipment and proceedings. Pretty nice small place with classy stuff, though they're doing it small with less than 50 people and the actual ceremony is only half an hour.
