Big Bottom Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 (edited) OK, I'm more into RPGs than any other genre but I have a pretty awful track record of finishing them. In fact, there are many classics that people lavish praise on all the time that I've barely made any headway into at all. Given that I post on Obsidian's forums all the time it's kinda weird that I've barely touched KotOR2 and I'm still at the start of Act II in NWN2, more due to technical issues in the case of NWN2 though. It's kind of the same phenomenon that I find with books sometimes. I can be completely and utterly engrossed in a book, such as Northern Lights (or Golden Compass if you're not a Brit), and yet a year and a half will pass and I'll still not have finished it. Anyway, my list is as follows...I'll keep this RPGs only as I don't have all night. Barely touched KotOR2 Fallout 2 Bloodlines Anachronox Arcanum Temple of Elemental Evil NWN2 Morrowind Gothic Gothic 2 Divine Divinity Halfway through Deus Ex Diablo Diablo 2 Oblivion Fell at the last hurdle System Shock 2 Arx Fatalis Edited February 21, 2007 by Big Bottom The best flash game ever!

Pop Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Wow, there are a lot of people who don't finish their games. I finish most every game I play. Maybe it's because I was just a kid when I started, and I had a lot of time and focus. That having been said, there are a few games that, for whatever reason, I've never finished. Barely touched: Diablo II (mostly because of roleplayer's remorse and boredom in the Second Act) Halfway through: Fallout Tactics GTA 2 Fell at the last hurdle: Icewind Dale II The Godfather GTA 3 GTA Vice City GTA San Andreas I don't know why, but I've never brought myself to finish a GTA game. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
Tale Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 We're throwing non-RPGs here? Barely touched Silent Hill 1-4 (will finish someday) Barely touched any but 2. Uru Disgaea (will finish someday) Jak II (will finish someday) Dawn of War: Winter Assasult Halfway through Star Ocean 3 (should have included it earlier, plan to finish) Fell at the last hurdle Fable (maybe should have included earlier) Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (will finish someday) "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Dark_Raven Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 NWN2 is the only one where I came close to the end and not finish it. 3/4 of the way through and I said no go. I missed too many things, my character wasn't awesome like I planned, total failure. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Tale Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 (edited) Thanks to this, I've just reordered my stack of PS2 games in order that I now am going to finish them, first to last: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (will pick up from save) Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (will restart) Shadow Hearts (will restart) Jak II (will restart) Disgaea - Hour of Darkness (will restart) .Hack: Infection (will restart) .Hack: Mutation (never started) Silent Hill 2 (will restart) Silent Hill 3 (never started seriously) Silent Hill 4 (never started seriously) Final Fantasy XII (will pick up from save) Suikoden V (will pick up from save) Then I'll give the two Fallouts a try and finally System Shock 2. I might buy Xenosaga: Episode 3 and give that trilogy a playthrough. Edit: Oh, and I still want to finish my Wild Mage Baldur's Gate 2 playthrough. Looks like I have no reason to buy a new game until next year. Edited February 21, 2007 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
LadyCrimson Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 10%-30% : Arcanum Dungeon Siege2 Planescape Torment KOTOR1 NWN1 (wouldn't run well on my pc then, never got back to it) Sacred 30%-60% Wizardy8 Guild Wars - couldn't solo it anymore Baldurs Gate2 - no Xan ... j/k Might & Magic6 Oblivion - very pretty but lacked something 60-80%: Morrowind - liked the editor more than the game Dungeon Siege (SP game) - got into the MP game instead Ultima9 - surprised I made it that far --- I usually get distracted by another game, or just burn out from too many obsessive marathon sessions and then never feel like going back. Some of them I've meant to go back to for ages but... “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Nox was fun...not the best game even for it's type, but it had a warped sense of humor here and there. “Things are as they are. Bokishi Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Glad I'm not the only one with the "no finish" habit. I mean some of you ppl are pretty bad Current 3DMark
kalimeeri Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Don't get me wrong, I like to finish games. I really try. But there are a couple of RPG's that are still on the shelf, for whatever reason... Advent Rising ... maybe 1/3-1/2 finished. Fahrenheit ... I never got past the tutorial. Dungeon Seige 2 ... Last hurdle stuff, never went into the last battle. Morrowind ... almost finished every single quest, installed both the expansions, and lost my game to a hard disk crash. Tried to go back, but couldn't do it. Fallout 1&2 ... started, but never got into it. Arcanum, same. Not a big fan of post-apocalyptic, I guess. The rest are history, most of them more than once: Diablo, Diablo2, IWD, IWD2, NWN1, NWN2, Dungeon Seige 1, Oblivion, Anachronox, Kotor 1&2, BG1,2, & Shadows of Amn, PST, and all the older Sierra/LA games like QFG 1-4, Shannara, both Krondor's, etc., etc.

Deraldin Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Barely Touched Deus Ex Thief III Planescape Torment Halfway through Thief II System Shock 2 Fell at the last hurdle Thief 1 Baldur's Gate 1 Everything else I've finished. My fell at the last hurdle games were literally at the last hurdle. BG1 kept crashing when trying to enter the room for the final boss fight and I just can't bring myself to go back through Return to the Haunted Cathedral again. It scared the crap out of me.
Spider Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Only RPG that I've started for real and haven't finished is Gothic III. I've gotten quite far into it and basically gotten my character maxed out in the skills I wanted (except one or two things). But there is still a ton of stuff to do. I quit playing it when NWN2 was released because I figured I'd wait for performance to improve through patches (I also uninstalled it to make room for NWN2, but kept the save games). Never managed to feel any inspiration to get back into it and doubt I ever will. I guess Hammer & Sickle also kinda qualifies, although calling it an RPG is a stretch. Anyway, I just couldn't get into it at all. I only ever got to the first town, then it was uninstalled. Given that I love Silent Storm, I was really disappointed with this game. Can't think of another RPG I haven't finished (almost didn't finish ToEE, but replayed it to finish something like a year after it's release).
