maybe it just got renamed.

"Yeah, so people can then complain when any details, however small, are changed, however much notice is given."

YES! Then people like us can come along and give them punks a smackdown! >_<

DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

I'd personally like to see something more along the lines of the original Alien than Aliens.

I'd prefer both.

Plus, it'd be nice if they fleshed out the "first" alien found in Alien. (note: not the one from the facehugger... the fossil)

Thats always been a mystery in the alien stories. Part of me would love exploring this strange culture of giant 'pilots', the other thinks it should be left a mystery.

I dunno. Do we really want another "true sith" on our hands? >_< But I get what you're saying, going into what Ridley Scott wanted to do in possible Alien sequels, exploring the origins of the Alien beyond that spacewreck. And I'd also think it would be cool if they explored a bit the deleted scene from the original movie (if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about)

And by Alien > Aliens, I meant from the narrative POV, where the PC starts off as an ignorant, unassuming character and grows into the only person capable of truly dealing with the threat the xenomorphs pose. Ripley was in a lot of ways a great RPG character, as corny as that sounds. Would you rather start the game as someone unprepared forced into dire straits or a armed-to-the-teeth military man being sent into the unknown that he's in some way prepared for? Even if the marines in Aliens weren't much of a match for the Aliens (who really is, besides Ripley?) they were more prepared than the Nostromo Crew.

Of course we'll want elements from Aliens in the game. The PC can't stay a blue-collar schlub forever, he's going to have to turn a Ripley at some point and become a hardass, and no Aliens game would be complete without a lot of smart gun action, but really, we don't want to start out as a battle-hardened soldier. No RPG ever starts out that way, and for good reason.

You mean the 'navigator' in the dougnut ship who in Alien had a hole in his chest.

Yes, that would be interesting considering the size, but the entire area was nuked in Aliens.

If you absolutely need a new kind of alien, navigator race aliens sound a whole lot better than the gene spliced muppet in Alien resurection.

Ultimately the most interesting and largely unexplored area to me is Alien society. Communal insects are facinating. The premise of Aliens Hive would make a good movie/game.

Na na  na na  na na  ...

greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER.

That is all.

The alien universe is dark and dirty, even their high tech stuff is a little primitive in their design, gridwalks and crude metal constructions are everywhere. I hope they get a lot of that Aliens feel into a game, and imo it should be mostly based on Aliens, I've always loved the part about arriving at a desolate, dark and abandoned environment where you can tell something has happened. :-

DENMARK!

It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.

Little drunk, but here goes.

Think about how it would be best if the PC at some point is trapped in a situation, just like in the movies. They can't leave, so there's that "game over man we're doomed" feel. There's a real threat that you're going to be overwhelmed, and you have to race against time to fix a problem.

I dunno, I'm thinking out loud.

Actually they have a place in the comics, but be aware that I've not read them in years and I might have got the odd detail mixed up. Basically they are a race of aliens that are at war with the predators. A long time ago, they took alien eggs and used the organisms as a kind of biological weapon on the predators homeworld. Although this should have been the sort of horribly devastating thing you'd expect, it turns out the predators thought this was pretty neat because Aliens are immense fun to hunt and they started collecting aliens/using them for their own purposes.

The "Space cowboy" as he appears in the movie was doing a similar thing, collecting alien eggs for use later down the track as weapons. Unfortunately for him, one of them escaped the containment field and he ended up being face-hugged for good measure. The rest is pretty much known from that point on.

Edit: Incidentally, as far as I know that race of aliens don't do anything terribly more important in the alien universe.

Edit2: To obsidian, seriously, screw the movies timeline beyond Aliens and use the comics. Sneak it in if you have to. It's infinitely better, more logical, does not kill off characters that had plenty of potential for further development, namely Hicks and Newt.

Edit3: I totally mean that too btw. Find some of the old Dark Horse comics, like Aliens Genocide and Aliens Earth War (I think there are 4 comics in here). Alien -> Aliens -> Aliens Earth War. Plenty of material there for a brilliant RPG, especially with the plot/background to Aliens Earth War.

Boss: You're fired.

Me: Ummm will you let me have my job if I dance for you?

Boss: No, I don't think so-

Me: JUST LET ME DANCE

Sounds like a pretty good premise.

(SPOLIERS)

WELL, have you seen AVP? Its not great but at the end of AVP

The Predator ship takes the dead body of the Predator that kills

the Alien Queen.. but then when they leave the body an Alien

bursts out its chest..

Basicly the ship they find in Alien, is the downed Predator ship from

the end of AVP and the Fossil alien is the Queen Alien/Predator hybred

that came out of the Predator.

From what I understand anyway.

Yautja (predators) and Mala'kak (pilot/space jockeys) are not the same race. They look very different (the Mala'kak are even larger than the Yautja and have much different faces/heads) and have distinct roles/histories even in the combined AvP universe.

What about their females? Do they just stay home between fist and oven?

Yautja society is matriarchal and the females are larger than the males, according to the Dark Horse AvP comics.

So are you going by the movies or the comics/books?

Well, we're not making an AvP game, so the Yautja aren't part of "our" universe for practical purposes.

You know, I have always thought that there was something going on between Arnold and that predator.

But you're using the canon (*shudder*) from the graphic novels, then?

At least we can be comfortable that you have done your research.

But you're using the canon (*shudder*) from the graphic novels, then?

I'm pretty sure the only things that Fox considers incontrovertible are the films. Anything else is "take it or leave it" as far as I know. Unless it consists of alien soldiers wearing USCMC helmets, carrying smartguns, and smoking cigars -- in which case it's probably just "leave it".

I think the game is in the right hands. ;)

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
