Heh. Yeah, I remember making Some Amulet With Really Long Name that requires Radiant Fire/Water/Earth(or Power?), Blue Diamond and mage's armour spell (i think) that gives you good protection from mind spells and SR and so on.

Instead I got a Talisman of Pure Evil.

Good,

except nobody in my party is Evil.

Anyone know where I can buy a scroll of Enervation? I've found everything else I need, but I can't seem to find this spell. :)

Just learn it at level up. :p

Beyond that, have you tried Sand's shop?

Do you need to have a recipe book in your inventory to be able to craft something or can you use recipes off the internet?

And I would like to be able to actually customize the appearance of the stuff you make like in the toolset.

You can use recipes off the internet.

Speaking of which: Here's a list. It's fairly complete, but not 100%. It's missing some very special items for instance.

Also, it's on google docs, so you need to have a google account to view it.

How many people have tried the item crafting yet? I thought about it but it looks time consuming to get the needed materials. Maybe in the next game.

Item creation is fun. :)

I made myself a +5 Cold Iron Warhammer with Holy (+2d6 vs evil) and Disruption (Save or die evil undead!) enchantments. ;)

Plus a belt of giant strength +6

And Khelgar had a +3 flaming dwarven axe :)

Overall I wouldn't say it's time consuming, unless you either sell off gems and books... and have to get them back.

But other than weapons and armor... it's not really worth it unless you have to have one of the items that can be made since you have no control over the recipie... but weapons and armor are really customizable and well worth it. :)

And unless I encountered a bug, it would seem there are recipies that are NOT in the books....

...for instance I made a shield with an additional -10% spell failure rate.

It looks time consuming to me. My will to complete the game over rules me having fun making weapons and such at the moment.

Items can give negative percents on spell failure. Some of the games items do that.

That war hammer would rule if it did 2D6 vs good. :p

I used Neeshka as my alchemist and whenever I found an item that could be broken down, I tossed it to her and she distilled it. Then I just let the essences pile up in her inventory until I stumbled upon a recipe I was interested in.

Oooo ... how do you break items down?

I just made a Silver Longsword +5, with 2d6 Holy Damage and 1d6 fire damage.

Damn. That looks better than the items they list in the guide book.

It probably is :)

To break items down, just use the mortar and pestle on it. You don't need an alchemists bench either, just use it right on the item.

You can also use the mortar pestle on an essence to give you the one just below (you can turn a weak essence into a faint essence), and you can use two weaker ones to make a stronger one (two faint into weak). You can break them apart without an alchemists bench, but you need the bench to combine.

I think there might be some minor differences in the content of the limited edition around the world. I found one on the shelf of a store today and bought it. I had the game dvd, manual, art book, two rings and a cloth map (yes, cloth) :)

Now I've just have to find the time to install (and patch) and play the thing :">

For those who have done it: is it worth my time to craft the item that summons the demon?

Depends on the demon. :)

Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer.

That's something of a non-answer. Why respond if you're not interested in helping me?

Umm... what item? :bat:

When you gain the keep, Ammon Jerro has a book that details a recipe for an item that summons Mephasm to the summoning circle in the basement, where the spider dwells. I never made it.

btw, Mephasm is a devil, not a demon :bat: big difference.
