Movies You Have Seen Lately

Yeah, any film with Walken in it can't be all bad.

As for the CR theme: I like Chris Cornell a lot, I just don't like him as a choice for a Bond theme. I was quite the Cornell worshipper in my youth, and hearing him in that intro really threw me.

Best Bond theme ever = Thunderball, as sung by Tom Jones.

Lyrics are idiotic, but the arrangement is good and Jones' performance is amazing.

All Bond theme lyrics are idiotic aren't they? Probably something to do with them usually incorporating the film title into the song. So it follows naturally that my favourite Bond theme is from OHMSS... it is an instrumental.

While I agree A View To A Kill (#17) is not a very good Bond flick it does have it's moments. To me Moore finally showed some believable anger when confronting Zoren about Tibit and the fight on the Golden Gate bridge was pretty intense. The title song by Duran Duran is excellent, the theme song for CR is ........ unremarkable.

Great Bond film. Excellent theme song and it had Walken :o as the bad guy. He rules.

I'm a sucker for Nobody Does it Better. :">

I saw the new Christopher Guest film. Wowee, it was so bizarre. Lotsa deadpan delivery, very good. Catherine O'Hara+ Botox= hilarity.

I saw Thank You For Smoking. It's good, and Aaron Eckhart is pretty great as the sultan of spin.

Took the family to Happy Feet. My daughter loved it and a couple parts made me chuckle. At 2 hours its a bit too long.

Also watched The DaVinci Code. Never read the book but I like the movie. Didnt really get why the church would want to hide the bloodline of Christ. It would seem like having a living heir of a god would trump adjusting some religous history.

What I understood from the book and the movie(they're the same) is that the bloodline would mean another Church entirely, another branch of christianity or something, like Catholiticism, Protestantism, etc and there would be, I guess, Jesusism or something. But the Church has built itself on the premise that Jesus is God or its son and Jesus having a family and descendants would debunk all of this, essentially destroying The Church.

Meh. :)

The Masons already believe in this, they have their own Bible and lore.

Also, I saw Casino Royale yesterday(Bond films have a cult following!) and although I expected to be impressed, my expectations were underrestimating this film.

It's just fantastic!  (w00t)

how is Mads Mikkelsen as the bad guy? I haven't seen the film .. he's a fantastic actor in Danish films .. but his english really sucks! ^_^

He's pretty good. Quite creepy, too.

He is good! The villain this time round is understated and layered. No OTT performances or detailing of ridiculous megalomaniacal schemes. Mikkelsen plays this well.

As for his english, it seems fine in the film. He could have learnt the script phonetically but he speaks well in interviews.

well one of the reason why he almost had no lines in Arhtur was partially because of his bad english.. :) but I just saw the thrailer and he's improved alot .. which is good - I don't mind an accent - but his was a bit over the top before.. :)

gotta see soon I think .. James Bond films are some of the best action packed in the buisness..

A Scanner Darkly - Heaves mediocrity, good scenes here and there - has Winona Ryder ever looked better?

The Hill - I was for a iota of our time at what-you-may-call a loss of words; riveting is the nigh-perfect adjective, of course, yet I happen to harbour an (almost) instinctual dislike towards it, so I'm stuck with either absorbing or gripping, cause engrossing is gay and whatever. Screw that, the actors are really good and the direction is nearly perfect, as is the script, and Ossie Davis is downright incredible. I have no idea how Lumet happened to direct this, and I don't really care, but he's the man, and so is Oswald Morris. Between this and The Man Who Would Be King (cinematography also by Morris), Connery's hastily becoming one of my favourite big-screen studs.

Pack Up Your Troubles - April 1917 - "When the scratch of a pen on Capitol Hill caused crowns to rattle." Definitely one of their better feature films, and I do happen to rate Walker quite highly - good flick, if not consistently funny.

I guess that's why it hasn't premiered yet here in Portugal.

Or to quote south park

"This isn't a movie, its a 2 hour snuff film"

I was expecting full gore for two hours, I was expecting to be grossed out.

The flagellation scene was a bit hard to watch and the crucifixion(SP) a bit bloody also but thats it. The rest of the movie is Jesus walking and in pain from the whipping.

The only redeeming quality, aside from the gorgeous visuals are Monica Belluci's lips.

Watched Da Vinci Code last night. I enjoyed it. I never read the book, never really knew what it was about beyond a vague outline, so came in blind pretty much. Kinda thought Tom Hanks wasn't the right actor for his role, but was impressed with everyone else.

I took this job because I thought you were just a legend. Just a story. A story to scare little kids. But you're the real deal. The demon who dares to challenge God.

So what the hell do you want? Don't seem to me like you're out to make this stinkin' world a better place. Why you gotta kill all my men? Why you gotta kill me?

Nothing personal. It's just revenge.

Out of Time (2003) - Director Carl Franklin and actor Denzel Washington team up again (following 1995's Devil in a Blue Dress, which was a much better movie) in an easily forgettable film that does not really offer something that has not been done before and done better. Not a bad action flick to pass the time, that is if you do not have something better to do........
