Disc swapping is a hassle though, and the game boots faster without a disc. No-CD cracks are nice, but they tend to crash newer games, such as FEAR.

Have you done a comparison between game crashes without the disc on a retail version and game crashes with a DD version? I'd be curious if there was a difference.

That sounds like an expensive experiment heh. With a cracked FEAR it crashes on exit. I doubt a D2D version of FEAR would do that. I haven't tested it, but I imagine quite an outrage if it did.

I wonder why. It'd kind of sort of make sense if it crashed during startup, or in the middle of the game when it was doing a disc check. But on exit?

I've got a serious game of Jagged Alliance 2 going. I love the new patch that allows me to play at 800x600. I just ripped the kingpin off, hired Magic, and now I'm on the way to the hospital for much needed medical supplies. Hitman actually bled to death because I ran out of bandages. I also haven't gotten the Bobby Ray website yet...not sure why.

I tried that the other day. The story's too fresh in my mind, though. So I ended up giving up after I reached Telos.

I haven't played it in over 4 months, and I've never played through darkside either. I've on the Harbinger, but I can only play in hour increments or I get bored. God damn Peragus...

Without the Peragus part, the game would be much better.

Actually for me it was the Peragus + first part of Telos.

 

The beginning where it was extremely linear about what you can do before you're actually able to go to whatever planet you choose.

 

Peragus and Telos themselves weren't bad. It was the fact you had to play out a certain portion of those no matter what.

Peragus was a bore something I would do quickly. Telos wasn't that bad, at least you had interaction with others and quests.
