Judge Hades Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 (edited) I can already tell you that Oblivion is better. You can create your own character in that. With playing more and more of Oblivion it just might unseat PS:T as my No. 2 spot for favorite CRPGs ever. Edited April 21, 2006 by Judge Hades
Dhruin Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Yes, I'd much rather it had character creation and it's hard to judge how good the development system will be because it's...different.
Judge Hades Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 If it is a CRPG then it needs to have the ability for the player to make a character he or she wants to play. Without it you kill some of the fun.
Dhruin Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I agree. But if the other elements are good enough, it's the overall balance of the package that counts for me. Good character creation is definitely a good start, for sure.
Jack_Wellington Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I think the Witcher is going to be very good...

With playing more and more of Oblivion it just might unseat PS:T as my No. 2 spot for favorite CRPGs ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never thought you'd feel Oblivion is better than PS:T. Heck...by your definition alone, you consider Morrowind to be better than Planescape: Torment.
Darque Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Wow, what's next? He'll think Diablo is the next wave in RPG goodness?
Dark_Raven Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Wow, what's next? He'll think Diablo is the next wave in RPG goodness? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

I would more enjoyment for a few hours of playing Tetris. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Diogo Ribeiro Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 That's more substance to me than mocked up RAI displays. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's probably more substance than the final Oblivion build.

Without it you kill some of the fun. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Limiting the scope of available PCs is an acceptable measure for smaller developers: after all, how many people want to play as one-armed hunchback with Down Syndrome and a bad case of shingles? Most people are happy to adopt the main character, as they play games to be the hero(ine). Look at Deus Ex, for example. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Musopticon? Then, many. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds

Llyranor Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 If it is a CRPG then it needs actual writing that has a purpose. Without it you kill some of the fun. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
