alanschu
I like Clive Owen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For me it's a mixed bag. He seems coarse and drab. On the other hand, I can't help thinking I wouldn't mind being manhandled by him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've been a bit of a fan, even from his Privateer 2 days. Maybe I just like him because he was desperate enough to be the star of a video game :D

blue
the poor writing really let down the film Your standards are too high. You've been spoiled by classics like The Core. Now that's fine writing. The last line in Kong, btw, is verbatim from the 1933 script. Not that this excuses Jack Black's cheesy delivery...

Missy
I started to watch Equilibrium the other evening. I squealed with delight at the sight of Sean Bean, and then, in a surprise turn of events, turned the DVD off in favour of Ace Ventura. I didn't think I would ever abandon Sean for Jim Carrey. Sadly, Christian Bale's Matrix-style moves were just too much... "Imagination is more important than knowledge." - Albert Einstein

metadigital
I just re-watched Serenity. *sniffle* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Coming from you that means ... almost nothing! Currently re-watching Firefly, so expect numerous quotations to pepper my posts ... "The love story between Naomi Watts and the Piano guy is ... confused ... when she seems to be directed to "love" Kong, as well" Eh? 1. You never heard of loving more than one person (well, in Kong's case, beast?) 2. Just because she cares about Kong doens't mean she loves him in the 'I wanna have sex with you way' either. I'm not like you. I actually cared for the characters for the most part. In fact, i didn't feel Kong was all that sympathetic of a character until he got to New York. Before than, he was just another monster with a fetish (for the girl). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1. It was confused because it didn't play out well. She doesn't look like she loves Driscol until he climbs up on the roof. 2. Thanks for that, because I don't have pets! Kong was cool on the island, that bit where he knocks her walking stick out from under her is priceless. the poor writing really let down the film Your standards are too high. You've been spoiled by classics like The Core. Now that's fine writing. The last line in Kong, btw, is verbatim from the 1933 script. Not that this excuses Jack Black's cheesy delivery... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're right: The Core knows what it is and does it well. (Any story about an impossible action like tunnelling to the core of the planet, which explains in the film just how impossible it is, and uses inventions like "Unobtainium", knows that it is not taking itself too seriously.) Although I did mis-categorise it initially: it isn't SF, it's Space Opera (for terranauts ). I didn't know about the last-line hommage ... that would have been better done some other way. Just watched Crash: incisive script, superlative acting, brilliant film. Edit: added re-categorisation of The Core. Fenghuang
Guys, I know this is late, but I saw The Goonies at a midnight showing last Saturday. Then I went to a party. Alcohol, weed, and shrooms may or may not have been involved. I didn't get back until the morning.* *Because I was making money of the suckers who got drunk and couldn't drive. blue
The Core knows what it is and does it well. Ah. So Hilary's suggestion that they're in deep sh*t is a metafictional assessment. I didn't realize it was a film about mining crap; I thought it was just a crappy film. Recent viewing: Edited May 2, 2006 by blue

I have been waiting for a chance to pick up this film for months (there wsa zero chance I would pay good money to buy / rent it): from the moment I saw the title I knew it was a farsicle film, all that remained to be seen was whether the producers acknowledged it or not. Fortuantely, they did. :D OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT

Musopticon?
Red Planet was just...bad. I was disappointed, since I what I thought would be was just anotehr misunderstood b-movie. Arrggh I saw Shanghai Knights recently. Since the plot was never meant to be good, or the characters deep, all the good stuff, the stuff were Jackie and Co had focused on, was stunts, jokes and the fairer sex. And boy, they sure delivered on those fronts. Yamma hamma kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. Hurlshort
I just drooled over Elisha Cuthbert for the entire movie. It really made it much more entertaining. The whole porn angle was kinda cool too. I knew nothing about it beforehand, so that was a pleasant surprise. I started the movie thinking it was another lame movie about a geeky high school kid, and it turned into a soft-porn movie. That's cool by me.
