kalimeeri Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I think Pirates was brilliant. For the first time in a long while I was absolutely pumped while and after I watched a movie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I went in expecting very little (Disney ... kids' ride ... meh), but loved it. It's a fun movie that shouldn't have worked, but it did. No great plot or significance, and Orlando Bloom was a bit disappointing, but Johnny Depp was sheer entertainment. CGI in his 'skeleton' scenes was great. And the soundtrack... is a rare gem. Not just a bunch of clips burned to a CD, but a whole that just flows, beginning to end. I hope they do as well on the sequel. I really do.

kumquatq3 Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Anyone have a link to the main file? For some reason the browser page that that link opens to crashes my browser. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you using Opera? They meantioned it crashes Opera.
LadyCrimson Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) I liked three things about PotC...Geoffrey Rush, Greg Ellis and the monkey. And the cinemotography. And music. Ok, that's five things. A sequel eh? What a surprise. Edited November 28, 2005 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are. Judge Hades Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 PotC was decent, but I liked Cutthroat Island better. No one can take the main character advantage to that extreme better than Genna Davis.
Gfted1 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 A sequel eh? What a surprise. IIRC, they are also filming part 3 at the same time. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
LadyCrimson Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) IIRC, they are also filming part 3 at the same time. Arrgh!! Pretty soon everyone's going to film 3 movie at once, like Mr. LotR director. Oh wait....maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing...might improve consistency... Edit: Then again, if the SW prequel had been filmed all at once...*pictures that floppy-earred creature jivin' through all 3* *shudder* Edited November 28, 2005 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are. HaPhApAbLaP Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) I was just about certain I wouldnt like the first one, but I certainly did. Was a very fun movie! I'll need to pick up a bottle of rum, some blue slurpees, and some lady friends, and hit the theatres when this one comes out but uh, heres a link to another trailer, or another link to the trailer (same one? I dont know.) --LINK-- Edited November 28, 2005 by HaPhApAbLaP
Hurlshort Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I can't believe all the Johnny Depp haters. "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" proved to me that him and Leo DiCapprio are two of the only young actors that are worth watching. And what about "Sleep Hollow?" Fear and Loathing was cool too.
Musopticon? Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) Sleepy Hollow was teh greatness. IF you catched it's drift anyhow. Musopticon? Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Hah! :D No, somebody didn't seem to get the interesting fact that it was tongue-in-cheek. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Judge Hades Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Personally, I liked that film. There are films that are serious, films that are too serious for their own good, and then there are just fun romps. Sleepy Hollow is a fun movie if you keep it in context. Expecting a serious down to earth movie is just not Tim Burton's style.
kumquatq3 Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 IIRC, they are also filming part 3 at the same time. Arrgh!! Pretty soon everyone's going to film 3 movie at once, like Mr. LotR director. didn't Mr. Matrix do it first?
Gabrielle Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Sleepy Hollow was one of Burton's best films. Plus it had Walken in it.

Darque Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Nah, I'm good... I just figured out the URL for it. Would have posted it here, but I figured it needed it's own thread
dufflover Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 (edited) The first film was ok, although I have no interest the whole ride and origins. Disneyland is good...too bad I haven't been for over 10 years. Janmanden Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 I can't believe all the Johnny Depp haters. I don't hate him, I just don't like him. There are a lot of words beginning with the letter 'P' that can be used to describe Johnny Inepts performance in PotC like Posh, Pansy, Puff and Pretentious...but neither Perfect nor Pirate is among them. He may have the inclination, but he doesn't have the weight or the talent to perform...fortunately someone else does and that's why PotC isn't a total failure. And masquara? Blargh!! Keep watching Yellowbeard, Johnny, just keep watching it. (Signatures: disabled)
Blarghagh Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Johnny Inept, what a clever nickname. Well, this obviously means you don't like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas either, which means you're an idiot. It's weird that the almost omni-loved Johhny Depp got so many haters the moment he was nominated for an oscar. The same happened for The Lord of the Rings. Hipster mentality, no doubt. Trailer looks oozing with atmosphere, but that's what Gore Verbinski does, so I'm not suprised. He can do wonders with a terrible script.
