AA Institute Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Hi everyone, I just joined the forum. I am an author with my first sci-fi/fantasy novel just released in the US. Is there some place where I can post a link to my book's synopsis and review... without breaching forum rules of course? Thanks for any pointers. AA

AA <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If anywhere it would be in the off topic forum, where this thread should be. But they don't allow advertising, so you could probably post it in the favorite book thread. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
mkreku Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I must say (to the topic starter) you really chose the weirdest place to post this.. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
julianw Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I must say (to the topic starter) you really chose the weirdest place to post this.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Err... Sci-fi <---> Nerds. This guy knows what he's doing. However, the mods don't like blunt advertising, but if you do it in a more subtle way...
Child of Flame Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Nuh-uh. Hades finished his screenplay, but decided it wouldn't adapt well to the silver screen, hence the new alt.
Authority Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 You are free to tell us of your book, what we dont like is the "Come check out this awesome discount on viagra!" posts. And a check of his IP reveals that he is on the same net as Metadigital "Thoughtcrime is death. Thoughtcrime does not entail death. Thoughtcrime is death."
SteveThaiBinh Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I must say (to the topic starter) you really chose the weirdest place to post this.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. A brief search will reveal that new members traditionally put their first posts in the Obsidian General forum and ask about the release date of Kotor 3. What does 'he is on the same net as...' mean? Same ISP, or does that mean it's definitely Metadigital himself? "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Moose Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Book There are none that are right, only strong of opinion. There are none that are wrong, only ignorant of facts
Surreptishus Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 What does 'he is on the same net as...' mean? Same ISP, or does that mean it's definitely Metadigital himself? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Authority has cheekily run an IP trace (or maybe IPs are shown as standard).
Authority Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 It means that AA Institute is in the same city, using the same ISP and most likely that he is Metadigital. But I happen to know that Mr. Digital likes to use proxy servers and thus they could simply be using the same server to connect through. One could argue that it was wrong of me to reveal Metadigitals supposed attempt to remain incognito in his writership but alt accounts arent really allowed here (with a few exceptions " ) "Thoughtcrime is death. Thoughtcrime does not entail death. Thoughtcrime is death."
213374U Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 alt accounts arent really allowed here Since when. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
BattleCookiee Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?ac...nounce&f=8&id=4
213374U Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Yes, I have read the announcement, thank-you-very-much. It doesn't outright forbid the use of alt accounts, mind you. Have you read it? - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
SteveThaiBinh Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?ac...nounce&f=8&id=4 My reading of that would be that alt accounts are allowed. Not that I see much use for one. And AA/Meta, we're still waiting for a link to this new book. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Surreptishus Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Yes, I have read the announcement, thank-you-very-much. It doesn't outright forbid the use of alt accounts, mind you. Have you read it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ditto
Authority Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Our guidelines arent laws set in stone, so theyre not to be interpreted that way. We would prefer if you stuck to having one account per user and we will lock accounts that are obvious alts, but we wont go out of our way to hunt them down. But if you use alt accounts to circumvent mod status etc. we will be annoyed "Thoughtcrime is death. Thoughtcrime does not entail death. Thoughtcrime is death."
Surreptishus Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 If the alt is innocuous then it is perfectly acceptable, right?
213374U Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Our guidelines arent laws set in stone, so theyre not to be interpreted that way. Somehow that doesn't surprise me. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
Authority Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Yes, as any good tyrant knows, having clearly formulated rules merely serves to give the masses the opportunity to find loopholes in them or to draw the enforcers of said rules into lengthy arguments regarding their correct interpretation. "Thoughtcrime is death. Thoughtcrime does not entail death. Thoughtcrime is death."
213374U Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Yes, it may also force mods to be coherent and restrict their power, as well as keep whimsical moderation decisions to a minimum. And we sure as hell wouldn't want that. " " - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
Rosbjerg Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 ahh .. I missed your blatant disregard of authority numberman! ^_^ Fortune favors the bald.
