Lucius Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Continued from this thread, I thought it was kinda funny, and I dig John Cleese. ^_^ Except Utah, which she does not fancy. DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
EnderAndrew Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 It was pretty funny. I do agree with some of the points, and not so much on others.
kirottu Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 All road intersections will be replaced with roundabouts. You will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour. Best part. :D This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
213374U Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Well, on the other hand, warm beer sucks. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
EnderAndrew Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 It does, and Irish beer is better than English beer all day long.
Lucius Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public. The man got a point. :D DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
Darque Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Still old, and still not funny. This opinion brought to you today by the letter Z.
SteveThaiBinh Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I think it's funny. I'd also quite like to read a reverse one - you know, one poking fun at British failings. Anyone know of one? "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)

Darque Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I don't think I'm meant to understand British humor.
Lucius Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 That would be British humor from Finland, then? DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
EnderAndrew Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 This isn't great British humor by any means. I recommend Black Adder and Douglas Adams.
Darque Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 That would be British humor from Finland, then? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought Cleese was British.
Lucius Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 That would be correct, expect that you were responding to kirottu... or so I thought. DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
Darque Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I was, but he quoted from that declaration... and it was a reference to British humor (read the last sentence of what he quoted )

Musopticon? Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Cleese is magical kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds

Gromnir Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 "Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. " what is wrong with the aforementioned? the sad thing is that we s'pose most Americans won't even recognize the mistake, so we ain't sure that our bringing it up is more effective as a criticism of cleese's piece, or a validation of it. in any event, we like the english. there is something profoundly uplifting in the realization that such an insecure and unattractive people managed to dominate the world for a substantial period of time. is like a horatio alger story. HA! Good Fun! taks Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 the sad thing is that of all the brainwashing talk in the world about the U.S., we are the least cognizant of the things we are supposedly brainwashed about. apparently, our brainwashing was not very complete. f.y.i. denizens of this board... the senate is part of congress. the statement should be "the house of representatives and the senate"... taks comrade taks... just because.
213374U Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Ah, yes. Please do turn this into yet another politics thread. Kaftan Barlast Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 it's not brainwashing, its "necessary illusions" There are very strong antidemocratic forces at work in the US, among them the current goverment and their corporate sponsors, but there are also strong democratic forces so its wrong to say its all rotten.
