it appears as if interplay has aquired enough funding to once again provide a presence on the web .... Interplay of course.. the site is nothing more than the logo i used to adore as a child but hell... its a start no ?

Interplay without BIS is like a brahmin without a head, its going nowhere. And any clown with a few dollars in his pocket can reregister a domain and make that "website".

Why not go with the rocket-orbiting-a-small-planet animated Interplay logo atleast?

Classic. :D

The whole thought of Interplay still mildly glowing saddens me. Can't they let it go already?

Eh. Interplay was around well before BIS was even a little splat in the colouring book. And, they were darn successful as well. In fact, in many ways, they were more successful before BIS's time than during and espicially after.

It pains me to say it (well, not really), but... Volo is right.

Interplay need to go back to basics. There are plenty of older games that they could knock out for next to nothing on the GBA. The GBA dosnt require any of the expensive bells and whistles that the other systems do.

You also dont need any great talents as the graphics are somewhat abstract anyway.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

No, Volo is not right. Interplay never did anything interesting before BIS started developing CRPGs for them and without them, Interplay has no reason to exist.

Wrong. You should know the hsitory ebfore spouting such nonsense. This isn't an insult about BIS; but a fact. Interplay has been around for a long time, and they have many successful and popualr games made before BIS existed. Nice try though.

Eh. IWD was a great success. And, PST sold just as much FO. Nice try; though.

PST wasn't the requisite "quick" cash flow though.

It has persistent sales....but sales alone don't indicate profits, as I would bet that a large portion of the people that played the game bought it when it was CDN$20 like me.

Although I don't know when the bulk of the Fallout sales were, so they could be comparable.

I'm just basing this on a loose memory of hearing Feargus talk about it on these boards.

True; but FO was in the same boat as PST. Many of its sales were also through persistent sales; though for whatever reason it managed to get a sequel, talk of a second multipel times that's got canceled, as well as off shoot titles. That's one area where FO was more successful than PST.

I remember playing Descent like a mofo with my friends over the school's LAN back in the day. Those were the times, really.

Interplay has done quite a few good games before BIS- and also quite a few flops, too. But Descent will always have a special place in my heart.
