I think the guy who posted this (on the Bioware boards) is in desperate need of attention.

Yeah I think you are right.

Until this information isn't confirmd it's just another rumour

I am all for Obsidian working on the storyarch, but I hope in KOTOR III they clear this up:

(KOTOR II SPOILER)

'What is the "Echo" - Acording to Atris, you were created by Kreia. After you were created, you started to get in touch with the force again. Now, according to one of the Master Jedi, can't remember which, you are an 'echo' of the horror and deaths you created and witnesses. Now, Kreia stated, durring your touching of people's thoughts session, is that Jedi Masters try to stretch out their thoughts and failed at it. However, she knows and has mastered it her self. Which means, part of the game, you are Kreia's 'echo'. Another part of the game, durring your trial, you are an echo of the horros and deaths you have caused at Malacore V. Now, there is a third element, which makes it so you become a whole Jedi, Kreia dies. Therefore, at the beginning and middle you were an Echo, and at the end you were a full Jedi.'

You are assuming that kotor3.com will be the address of the official site of the as yet to be made (or even begun to be made) game.

try kotor.com and kotor2.com and see what happens.....

Also remember that anyone can register pretty much any domain.

Nothing but another rumor until someone from the companies involved say anything about it.

I'll go with what this guy (gal) said. Until I see Obsidian or Lucasarts actually make the announcement, I'm not going to get excited. There's been tonnes of rumors floating around that proved inaccurate, so I'm adopting a wait-and-see approach.

on the one hand, I can appreciate LA's silence...heck, TSL really hasn't been out that long.

ON THE OTHER HAND, K2 was, IMO, nothing more that a (well-written) setup for K3. The story was good filler, BUT IT WAS FILLER nonetheless.

The need to give us *something* official soon IMO.

This atleast the second time that post on the Bioboards has started a threat on these boards.

I have to believe Kotor 3 is in Limbo, not everyone is lining up to get bullied by Lucasarts to release a half finished game

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

Then again, potential developers know it's going to be a pretty much guaranteed seller. I'm not sure if developers get paid more if the game sells better, or if they get a fixed sum up front regardless of how well the game sells.

If it's the former, then even with Lucasarts' "pushy" style, I'm sure a lot of developers would take on the project if it would get their company both revenue and notice.

I think of it this way: Lucasarts is like working for a big company. Sure they are demanding and sometimes unrealistic with their schedules, but they pay you a six figure salary (just an example, no Obs developers correcting me on this figure). On the other hand, you can work for a less demanding "boss" like, say, McDonalds and make $7.50 an hour with no stress or headaches. I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to take the stress and headaches with a big salary over a carefree $15 grand per year.

in McD i'm sure you get stress from managers and customers and add to that the fact the shame of doing a terrible job and the fear of being very easily replaceable.

Yeah this is off topic but the topic was pretty dumb anyway.

Well if there are no plans for it to made then there will be no announcement for that will there?

yes, indeed there could be an announcement...

"we have no plans to develop a K3 within the next 5 years"

EDIT: this is not Morrowind-to-Oblivion we are talking about here. We are talking about the second half of a story for Christ's sake. The *presumption* is that it will be completed and within a reasonable timeframe.

If you recall from the wrapup of KOTORII they said that E3 was very much the "death knell" because the game was so widely anticipated an Xmas release became priority one.

Therefore it's very smart to keep things underwraps until your a good way through the project dont you think? That way you have a solid foundation before you start to get caught up in the hype machine. KOTORIII is also going to be under a lot more scrutiny wouldnt you think?

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

Absolutely. It's like a game of No Limit Texas Hold 'Em and you decide to go "all in". That's what K3 is.

If they hit a home run, then everybody looks to LA for cRPGs. If not, then LA takes a serious beating. And I think the guy who is now in charge of LA's game production is fully aware of what is at stake.

Hmmm. Yes, I think I remember that. It's not that they were impatient money-grubbers, it is that they couldn't have anything compete with the Epi III game.

Yeah, that makes sense.

While I see that whatever happens in KOTORIII, the build up of KOTORII makes it almost certain that Revan will have to play a large part, I still don't see why Revan need have to be a man or a woman. KOTORII didn't feel the need to establish beyond doubt Revan's "intended" gender. I also see it as impossible that the game will have Revan or the Exile as the main player character. Simply because that in all games (that I know of) featuring Jedi - there is a curve stating that the character begins with next-to-no knowledge of the Force and progresses over the course of the game to mastery. It's common game setup. The game has to be able to stand alone. Considering I played KOTORII before I got the first, I know that KOTORII can stand alone. Tell me, was there many people before TSL came out that seemingly expected it'd be about Revan all over again? It's perfectly natural that there would be someone else, a new character.

That's just my thoughts on a few subjects - as for the game - yes, I wait till official confirmation - hopefully LEC have learnt not to hype anything up too much before its time.

I have no problem with Obsidian possibly making KOTORIII - good luck to them, is what I say!

You could make Revan genderless, but it would require obscuring the identity and having an artificial voice which could be either male or female. It's all a bit too Darth Vader I think.

Whichever way it goes people will get over it and as long as they buy the game ultimately it's not a huge deal.

More than likely Revan will be wearing his/her "trademark" outfit, with the face mask and hood so gender won't be a physical problem. I think the tricky part, like you said, will be a voice.

I think that is right. IMO, they have to lock in the identity for at least one of those two (Revan/Exile) because I think at least one of them will need to have a complete game presence (voice acting, et al).

I've not finished KOTORII yet, but I finished the first game as a light sider. Unless something tragic happened to Revan during the KOTORII days, I can't imagine them finding a way to turn him to the dark side for the Exile to fight in KOTORIII. My exile isn't dark, either, so there'd be no reason for them to fight.

If they decide to assume some sort of default story for Revan in the first game, I'll be very disappointed. He was as light as could be, so it'd take a lot to turn him, especially with his beloved Bastila at his side.

My only real hope is that I get to play Revan again if that does happen. I don't much like the Exile's story so far.

Revan ceased to be their character when he/she got their memory back. It's about time people got over it.

Revan still is. It was the player's own choice what to do next after the revelation. Actually Revan was is more of your own character than Exile ever was. With KOTOR II, there are dialogue options that don't make sense to the player... and yet, we are supposed to know what we're talking about?

Posted
If that's true, then Exile was never their character.

To a lesser extent thats true. However while the exile had a background the exile was never going against type since you didnt have the whole amnesia shtick going.

Revan on the other hand once he or she regained more memories. Dont forget in KOTOR they only remembered their identity the rest came later. These memories are and always were outside of the players controls.
