Padmi Skydrunkard Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Don't know if you have already seen this stuff or not. Sorry if you have already. Anyway, thought this info was kinda cool: [spoilerS] http://www.starwars.com/databank/character...ilashan/?id=bts [spoilerS] I'm not familiar with the comics but I reckon it would have been pretty cool if they had kept some kind of comic book character association. They must have had their reasons for not keeping it that way though.
Tysplo Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Hmmm... Wern't the Tales of the Jedi comic books set hundreds of years before the KOTOR seris though?
DeathScepter Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Well It would be cool that we can meet Normi Sunrider and her daughter.
Dragonia89 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Well Nomi Sunrider was with Exar Kun, which was only bout 50 years before KOTOR.
metadigital Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 40 years <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that forty years before K1 or 40 years before K2? OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
amajedai Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Well Nomi Sunrider was with Exar Kun, which was only bout 50 years before KOTOR. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I suppose they could always show Nomi Sunrider/and or her daughter in a holocron or just have a character with the Sunrider name who is decended from her.
Revan Si-Darlo Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Actually the Great Sith War is only 40 years before KOTOR although that still makes it to long ago for Nomi to have been Bastila's mother. Still, as a compromise when I found about Bastila's original backstory I designed it so that Nomi Sunrider was Bastila's master rather than mother.
Padmi Skydrunkard Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Does anyone know if any of the other characters have links to the comics? It seems like some might, but I am not a comic book reader.
Jivin Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 the drawing of her is horrible tho <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd have to agree... none of them really seem to match up very well with her character in game... the best artistic "impression" of bastila ive seen was this: http://www.starwars.com/databank/character...n/img/eu_bg.jpg I guess it comes as no suprise seeing as its official stuff... but then again, so were those drawings. - Dan

Still, as a compromise when I found about Bastila's original backstory I designed it so that Nomi Sunrider was Bastila's master rather than mother. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well, nomi sunrider can't be bastila's mum - coz we all know who bastila's mum is - she was on tatooine in the first game! and her name was jan or somthing like that, i really cant remember.
Darth Flatus Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 We know that!! its not about how it turned out its about how it could have been.
Padmi Skydrunkard Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 Sareth Dorn is a cool name, I personally like the sound of Sareth more than Juhani, but that's just my preference. But of course the name Bastila is much prettier than both, so I can see why they used it for the lead NPC girl. I think I might use Sareth Dorn name next time I play.
GhostofAnakin Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 What a brutal write up. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
FieryDove Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 well, nomi sunrider can't be bastila's mum - coz we all know who bastila's mum is - she was on tatooine in the first game! and her name was jan or somthing like that, i really cant remember. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe it was Helena.

Padmi Skydrunkard Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 What a brutal write up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What are you refering to exactly?
GhostofAnakin Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 The databank entry. It doesn't sound as "professional" as the other databank entries. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
darknesslord Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 fact is bastla shan was , for starter, supposed to be vima sunrider, the daughter of nomi sunrider, but the idea was dropped and bastila was created. In fact she took juhani's first name
Sentry Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 fact is bastla shan was , for starter, supposed to be vima sunrider, the daughter of nomi sunrider, but the idea was dropped and bastila was created. In fact she took juhani's first name <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BioWare stated over at their boards that there was a weird copyright issue with the name 'Sunrider'. LucasArts would not let them use it. In fact, they could have gotten in trouble if LucasArts had noticed that she is mentioned (in Jolee's convo's). It was an 'oversight' . They were supposed to have cut it out...
darknesslord Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 well, all they could do is mention these caracter, like exar kun, and the qel droma family, they did it in kotor 2, but changing one's story would have cost a lot in court lol
Padmi Skydrunkard Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Feh, all that copyright stuff just spoils the fun <_< The comic books and games are both part of the starwars franchise, so it would make sense for them to connect for continuity purposes.
