eckertt001 Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Not sure about the accuracy but still a good enlighting reading about Black Isle Studios... http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/print.php?sid=811
Feargus Urquhart Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Forgot about that article. There are some things that are right in there, but there are also a lot of assumptions that are somewhat inaccurate. Feargus Urquhart CEO Obsidian Entertainment, Inc.
naq Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Interesting read. Wish Kotor 2 wasnt released for a while either, what a shocking disappointment. I am going to make sure i read review forums before devoting hours of my time to another RPG again. im going to reinstall Fallout 2 to fill that emptiness left behind after i finished kotor2. Hopefully if Fallout 3 ever comes out it wont be restricted by a poor development environment.
Feargus Urquhart Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't feel that KotOR2 was a shocking disappointment. Feargus Urquhart CEO Obsidian Entertainment, Inc.
Skynet Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Hopefully if Fallout 3 ever comes out it wont be restricted by a poor development environment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Instead, it will be restricted by a poor development team. ncr Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't feel that KotOR2 was a shocking disappointment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Says the developer.
Feargus Urquhart Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Wow that was witty. Feargus Urquhart CEO Obsidian Entertainment, Inc.
ncr Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Wow that was witty. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Witty and true.
Aegis Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Uh, yeah, of course it's true. He is a developer and he said it. Speaking of the obvious; I'd also like to point out that water is wet. As for the "witty" part, do enlighten me. I don't see it.
GhostofAnakin Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 I hope Feargus has had his shots. Because he just got attacked by a troll. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
Nur Ab Sal Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 TSL wasn't a shocking disappointment. It was just unfinished. Howewer I got angry after all those devs posts, interviews and ramblings saying how TSL will be great & innovative. After all that stuff I felt tricked. I would give Obsidian KOTOR 3 to develop becouse they surely have better ideas than Bioware but also a 4 years of creative freedom. HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.
Tsel Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 I hope Feargus has had his shots. Because he just got attacked by a troll. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree, ncr is sure on a Troll roll all over this forum. Tsel <_<
Darque Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 I see a troll, someone shoot it before it escapes! We can stuff it and mount it on a wall :D
Judge Hades Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't feel that KotOR2 was a shocking disappointment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't say shocking either. I would say a mild disappointment, but only at the end of the game.
mkreku Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Strangely enough, KotOR2 never felt like a disappointment to me. I really like the game, I've had a lot of fun playing it and I love some of the things Obsidian has done with it. But the amount of bugs and "missing" features surprised me and annoyed me sometimes. Kaftan Barlast Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I think K2 is the best game Ive ever played, but to make a gross understatement, the ending sure could have been a little more elaborate. edit: Yes, Ive played KoTOR and virtually every major game for the PC since 1993. naq Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 best game you've ever played?! you played K1? or any other games for that matter? i will stand with my opinion it was a shocking disappointment ps.. can someone enlighten me as to what the 2 droids storyline is supposed to end like!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 K1 wasnt a fun experience for many reasons. 1. A twist that you could determine with in game evidence within a a few hours. Then you get to play like a dummy till the game catches up. 2. An end boss that cheats to hide the fact he's a wuss. 3. Lets not forget him dying on the Leviathon which pretty much killed the credibility of the game from that point on. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]
Volourn Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 "K1 wasnt a fun experience for many reasons." Geez. It wasn't too long ago when you couldn't stop praising KOTOR1. R00fles! "1. A twist that you could determine with in game evidence within a a few hours. Then you get to play like a dummy till the game catches up." Just like KOTOR2. "2. An end boss that cheats to hide the fact he's a wuss." Just like KOTOR2. "3. Lets not forget him dying on the Leviathon which pretty much killed the credibility of the game from that point on. Skynet Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 "1. A twist that you could determine with in game evidence within a a few hours. Then you get to play like a dummy till the game catches up." Just like KOTOR2. You could figure out that you were a wound in the force after only a few hours of play? I somehow doubt it. "Who could blame Skynet? Volourn Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 "You could figure out that you were a wound in the force after only a few hours of play? I somehow doubt it." That's ok. That doens't mean it's not true. Not to mention who the Big bad was obvious which i figured out in the first interaction. R00fles! DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Saraya Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Ah, this game is so full of subtleties. My favourite part is the Rodian (sp?) in some cantina. "Yes, swoop good, I'm going to stand over there now..." I mean, the ending is important, I agree, but all things considered, an ending is supposed to be brief. I mean, as a little girl I always had most fun building my fantasy Lego cities. Cause once all them little houses were done and such and the story was played out, I just started overnew. I'm just saying.
