Squidget
Bu...but...no! A story? Gauntlet? Any story other than four heros arising to save the world? They can't do that! I'm gonna go cry in a corner now... Feel free to steal this sig.
Whitemithrandir
Yes, Gauntlet looks very interesting. Word economics To express my vast wisdom I speak in haiku's.
Dragon Lord Jones
actually sounds interesting to see how the game has changed. haven't played the arcade game for eons and never played dark legacy ... not a console player , but this is coming to pc. JE don't disappoint me, i think i might actually buy this one. we'll see "

Phosphor
The story sounds good, but then the preview kind of decends into a description of un-interesting gameplay. Does the story permeate the game, or is is more of a framework in which to run around chopping stuff up with actiony "characters"? Do the characters have personalities at all this time out? Volourn
Sounds like Gauntlet. It'll probably be fun. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

The gameplay is more similar to a fighting game than an RPG. Traditional staples like trips, juggles, launches, grabbing/throwing, counterattacking, dodging and evading make up the core action. Phosphor
I have nothing against a lack of "choose your own" adventuring; pre-written characters can be more engaging and interesting to watch interact with the story. I was just curious to what degree the story-driven component co-exists with the action aspect of the game. It's been a long time since I played any Gauntlet game (I only ever played it in the arcades), but didn't you choose one character to play then, not all four? How hard is it to control four characters in real-time with the degree of combat moves available to them for this game? And I'm interested in the PC version, not the console version. J.E. Sawyer
You always play one character. In the story mode, each phase of the game has a pair of characters. You play one and the other can either be played by a friend or will "pop in" for story moments. twitter tyme
DemonKing
Sigh...sorry JE but I'm not sure if this kind of game interests me. I used to love feeding the original Gauntlet arcade game 20c pieces back in the day..."Elf needs food badly!", "Valkyrie...your life force is running out!" and so on bring back fond memories...BUT...I'm not 14 anymore. Guess I can always replay some of my old BI games till the next big thing comes out.
mkreku
The graphics look really nice. And I'm all for co-op games. ANY co-op games! I've noticed I'm able to play Solitaire for hours on end.. as long as it's done in co-op. Having a friend with you makes any game so much better for me. Ragamuffin
I'm looking forward to it, for nothing else than the 4-player co-op over live. :D From the preview, the game seems as if it plays like Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, but with Prince of Persia graphics; I liked both! Could the breasts on that female in the artwork be a little bigger? Jeez, she must have hella lower back problems! Glad to see you back in the industry Josh! Judge Hades
I am sure it will be a fine adventure game but JE not making real CRPGs is like Stanley Kubrick directing American Sitcoms. Its just wrong somehow. In any case I hope the game is successful for you, JE.

Dragon Lord Jones
Josh ... How are the game saves handled? Will it be way points, an autosave, level save? Just curious. I didn't read anywhere how this will be addressed. Also are you shooting for a mature rating then, if it's adult oriented? This game is designed for adults. J.E. Sawyer
Josh ... How are the game saves handled? Will it be way points, an autosave, level save? Just curious. The individual levels aren't very large, and to keep load times low, saves are at the beginning of levels only. Also are you shooting for a mature rating then, if it's adult oriented? To be honest, we aren't shooting for any particular rating, though it definitely has some mature (lower case m) elements in it. twitter tyme

DemonKing
This game is designed for adults. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So the combat is strategic RT w. pause/turn-based re: IE engine/TOEE or is it button mashing re: every other console game out there? Not saying that button-mashing can't be fun once in a while, but I can't see myself spending money on something that is essentially a combo/hacking game (although I do have a softspot for "Die By the Sword" from wayback when). "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
