Ludozee Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 I found the lightsaber combat in JA very confusing. Obviously I never mastered it, but I found myself, as you described, jumping around all the time, pressing the mouse button and running rather than an actual "duel". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sounds very familiar... Child of Flame Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Jedi are supposed to be warrior monk style folk trained from childhood like shaolin monks. So why are so many Jedi in things lately such stereotyped whiny little teen ****? I blame Anakin Skywalker. That's only true for the prequels. In the NJO era, everything sucks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They had lots of hawt sex.......jeebus fanfics are weird.
EnderAndrew Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I heard about Han and Leia's kids getting it on with people and I was immediately wierded out.

GhostofAnakin Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Yeah, but what does fanfic have to do with the NJO? Ender was making a comment that the NJO wasn't to his liking. So bringing up what some sex-starved fanfic writer wrote about doesn't help or hinder the case about the NJO being bad. And the majority of this schtuff I've seen was set in the NJO era?
GhostofAnakin Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Ok, no problem. My mistake. I just thought you were pointing out extra material to support Ender's claim that the NJO isn't very good by posting about something that had nothing to do with the actual "canon" NJO. Opus131 Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 That's only true for the prequels. In the NJO era, everything sucks. There is still the most important issue of any Jedi action game: lightsaber combat. I'd rather not have another game with such a craptacular fighting system as that of JK2 and JA. I mean, it was fun and stuff, but it was nothing alike the movies. Jumping and running around in circles all the time is not what good ol' Obi-Wan does. We'll see how they do it for the EP3 game, but I'm not holding my hopes too high. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but the system it's the closest any game as ever gotten to it, isn't it ? I thought the Light Saber combat was one of the only things they actually got even remotely right. I'm still waiting for the real Jedi Knight 2 however... Opus131
213374U Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Yeah, but the system it's the closest any game as ever gotten to it, isn't it ? I thought the Light Saber combat was one of the only things they actually got even remotely right. It's more accurate to say that the JK series are the only games which have ever been intended to be a lightsaber combat simulation. So there aren't other games to compare to. I know it wasn't an action game, but I liked the KotOR lightsaber combat animations much better than JO/JA lightsaber combat. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
DSLuke Posted January 10, 2005 Author Posted January 10, 2005 Matybe we could have somekind of turnbased combat system for the next JK game. Also I would like to play as Anakin Solo or Ben Skywalker. And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom

Child of Flame Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 I dunno. Has he stopped posting on other forums too? I suspected he just pulled a Mr. Teatime.
DesertHawk Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 GoA left for a bit because he didn't want any spoilers for Kotor2 or somesuch. Fnord.

Mr. Teatime Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I'm still here, sort of. Ok, I'm not really, I randomly thought 'what happened to Darque' and looked up here. This is 100% true, wierd that she asked what happened to me on the same day. Anyway, yes I've left these forums (this will probably be my last post here in a year or so), because IMO Obsidian suck and they offer nothing of interest. They're bioware junior (and that's a very bad thing - bioware are a company with the funds and opportunity to create a unique, original IP, and they go and make another f*cking Tolkein rip-off), with disappointing projects and games catering for the mainstream rather than the hardcore. Commercialism maybe, but they don't interest me and I'm disappointed by them. I'm sure they don't care what I think - hence my self-removal from these forums... So I spend my time these days running Duck and Cover (the other fallout site). Actually you should come and register, Darque, and anyone else who cares, as it's pretty fun, filled with your genuine homosexuals, bisexuals, heterosexuals, goatses, blacks, whites, males, tubgirls, susan, females and latvians. http://www.duckandcover.cx So maybe see you there... anyway, that's what I'm doing these days. So I am still active on forums, but the only ones you're likely to find me in as part of the gaming community are Duck and Cover and occasionally RPG Codex. EDIT: you're all welcome, apart from Servant of Eru. You can't come.
Exitium Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 What happened to Sargy? Oh yeah, that's right. Nobody cares. Exitium RPG Codex - the premier avant garde gaming news site. TravisPennington Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I'm pretty sure they'll make another sequel to Jedi Knight. I know that Raven right now are working on X-Men Legends 2 and Quake IV, but I remember reading somewhere that they always work as 3 Teams, and 3 Projects. Then again, maybe they cut that down. Who knows. I'd want the next JK sequel to be more true to Dark Forces 2's fast-paced multiplayer, but that's not going to happen. Jedi Knight at Force Level 8 was some of the fastest and most intense gameplay I've ever encountered (yes, it was faster than UT2k4. Your guy moved like 500000 MPH, it was awesome). The Singleplayer in the Jedi Knight series has stayed pretty stagnant over the past few years (meaning great), but in my personal opinion the Multiplayer in JO and JA leaves a bit to be desired. I like the updated Lightsaber combat, it's fantastic. But the force powers and guns seem kind of lame to me (Bring back the Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight Concussion Rifle. It was the most awesome weapon ever.) Then again, I am a little biased as I was a big fan of Dark Forces 2's Multiplayer. No FPSers Multiplayer has captivated me as much as that did, although Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Soldier of Fortune 2 both came close. BTW Raven Software fans, I'm not picking on them. I love all of their games very much, and they're some of the most talented guys around in the business. I just really, really, really like Dark Forces 2.

Llyranor Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I'd love to have a JK game on the Source engine. Physics + force powers > u (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
