Darkwaters Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 What is the symbol for Obsidian Entertainment's stock?
Darkwaters Posted July 26, 2004 Author Posted July 26, 2004 There isn't one. They are not public yet. Oh, I hadn't realized that they were closely held. Pity.
chemchok Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 As long as they have cash, there's nothing wrong with not being public.
Darkwaters Posted July 26, 2004 Author Posted July 26, 2004 As long as they have cash, there's nothing wrong with not being public. I never said there was. For some reason I thought they had gone public however. I tried briefly to figure out their symbol without success (obviously) and decided I'd simply ask here.
JonIrenicus Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 Maybe they will have not a stock symbol.Just Obsidian like in the trailer. Life... is strength. That is not to be contested; it seems logical enough. You live; you affect your world
Darque Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 I hope they stay private -JonIrenicus What are those images from?
Gorth Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 You would think that Titus would like to buy a few Obsidian shares... “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Darque Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 You would think that Titus would like to buy a few Obsidian shares... Don't even hint at it.
EnderAndrew Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Wasn't Interplay supposed to be "by the fans, for the fans?" Why not sell their licenses to actual fans of the series (like Troika, Obsidian or the like)?
Iolo Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 "By gamers, for gamers" was their motto but they haven't used it for years.
JonIrenicus Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 No that was Interplay`s not Black Isle`s. Darque these images are from the movie final fantasy 7 Life... is strength. That is not to be contested; it seems logical enough. You live; you affect your world
Antagonist Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 Staying private might cost them money they might earn through going public but it also makes them aswerable to the shareholders, and I think this is very bad for a creative CRPG producer. Shareholders want to earn money and not take risks so they will demand that Obsidian makes "safe" games instead of experimantal ones for small niche groups. Nah, keep your shares and don't sell Obsidian to another company.
Darkwaters Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 All they've been making so far have been safe games though (and if two big name sequels aren't safe these days then I just don't know what is). The reason why I asked is that I was just coasting around the ragingbull forum and looking at some of the Iplay stuff...I hadn't even paid any attention to Obsidian's stock setup. Figured I'd ask.
Sargallath Abraxium Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 <_< ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... A long, long time ago, but I can still remember, How the Trolling used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, I could egg on a few Trolls to "dance", And maybe we'd be happy for a while. But then Krackhead left and so did Klown; Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town. Bad news on the Front Page, BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage. I can't remember if I cried When I heard that TORN was recently fried, But sadness touched me deep inside, The day...Black Isle died. For tarna, Visc, an' the rest o' the ol' Islanders that fell along the way
Astatine Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 <_< ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Blimey, that's scary. *checks upwards for any cattle*
