The SCOTUS has been pretty literal about their interpretation of Consitutional wording. But I am sympathetic toward the administrations view about children of foreign temporary visitors. People flying to the US just to give birth seems a dubious practice. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."

People flying to the US just to give birth seems a dubious practice. Its an important ruling for me more because its another example of how Trump doesn't have control of the SC despite it being majority Conservative They not predictable around how they make rulings despite some decisions and the fearmongering And an independent judiciary is the most important institution to ensure that the US doesn't become deeply influenced or controlled by either left or right political ideology The Constitution must always be the benchmark for laws and rulings and not the current presidents views or the extreme views of either party But yes there is abuse of this citizenship right but the solution is not to ban birthright citizenship because its complicated and not all about abuse "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. He said the makeup of Loeb's team suggests the White House is more interested in fringe theories than hard science. As if we needed more. Everyone knows old boats are easier to maintain! Just watch, the procession to join AUKUS will start any minute now*!Certainly not Scotty from Marketing's finest hour; isn't anything Albanese can do about it except hope that Darth Trump doesn't alter the deal any further. I mean, not like he can go off and buy French boats instead.*to be fair, if our right wing politicians could find a way they'd have signed up for tier 2, but it's massively unpopular here due to our (very popular) anti nuclear stance. So, in an all too typical worst of both worlds approach we'll just buy helicopters at an inexplicable 500mn a pop and- even more inexplicably- 1bn worth of sea drones. 2 (two) drones for that amount. Both of which would get taken out in a proper fight by a 1k drone from temu.
