Can you clarify whether this means the GOG Linux build will or won't be updated? Currently, the GOG Windows and Mac versions are up-to-date but the GOG Linux version is 3.07.0.1318 (from around 2018). I actually play the GOG Linux version on my Steam Deck and I was thrilled to learn about an update after all this time! But now I'm wondering if I have to choose between playing the old version or buying another copy of the same game on Steam.
Chiatroll Posted Thursday at 09:09 PM Posted Thursday at 09:09 PM I was just getting back to this game after finished avowed because I wanted to see the world details again since it has been so long. No I'm considering waiting on the turn based but this year is quite the range of time.

AlexanderHendry Posted Friday at 04:04 AM Posted Friday at 04:04 AM Have you added controller support to the PC yet? I'm disabled and can't play at a desk!
Obsidianware Posted Friday at 07:34 AM Posted Friday at 07:34 AM This is amazing, great excuse to go back to Pillars! But will we ever get controller support? A lot of us have PC's plugged into TV's these days.
kobrakai Posted Friday at 12:41 PM Posted Friday at 12:41 PM Is all of this PC only? Or is it for all the platforms?
OneBgBdArtemis Posted Friday at 01:19 PM Posted Friday at 01:19 PM So does this mean I can actually pick up where I left off after 55 hours of play time and the achievements, which dictated a certain play style, will now work? A la craft x amount of x or gather ALL party members NOT tracking because I turned my console off. I'd love to finish this game. Been sitting for years PoE2 was stellar and after completing Avowed with 127 hours in It, absolutely brilliant, I'd really like to finish PoE
Warkot Posted Friday at 01:59 PM Posted Friday at 01:59 PM Have the Xbox cumulative achievements been fixed as well?

The GOG Linux version is now 3.8.0.87535 also!

With the last patch in 2024 I promised a hand-written letter of effusive praise if the devs got around to fixing this as well, and now I have it on this week's todo list to go out and buy some stationary. thankyousomuchomg oh man, it was a bit of a journey trying to decipher posts and notes I wrote nine (!!) years ago, but i can confirm that the trap accuracy bug is in fact fixed. it feels so good to get this fixed, almost a bit in disbelief that it finally happened - i have an entire section of my old gamefaqs guide that i need to delete. as promised, a hand-written letter is on its way to the irvine offices. thanks so much 5

What's the exact reasoning? Adding GenderNeutralText tags to an XML file and adding Turn Based Mode to PoE is a hint for PoE3? 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods

To be fair I was staring at that previous post for quite a while before I saw anything that looked different. No one outside of modders is really all too familiar with stringtable entry structures I guess It is an interesting find! Though searching through the files there are no instances of the populated <GenderNeutralText> . So perhaps part of an initial set up for the option that'll be patched in alongside the Turn-based mode? Or maybe just something the OEITools puts into the .stringtable files now as a result of updates to the tools made to account for the option in Avowed. Edited Sunday at 01:23 AM by Kvellen 1
Boeroer Posted Sunday at 07:47 AM Posted Sunday at 07:47 AM Iirc those tags are used in Deadfire, aren't they? I assume some (inhouse?) tool might add those tags nowadays which it didn't back in the old PoE days - and since they didn't patch PoE for a very long time it might be that the updated tool just automatically added those in the scope of the newest patch? 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Kvellen Posted Sunday at 11:41 AM Posted Sunday at 11:41 AM (edited) 3 hours ago, Boeroer said: Iirc those tags are used in Deadfire, aren't they? Deadfire only has <DefaultText /> and <FemaleText /> entries in all it's .stringtable files. Which are used for reactivity to the player's choice of gender in character in creation. Interestingly there is a "Neuter" gender in both Pillars of Eternity games. But is only ever used by creatures and maybe the occasional npc. It isn't implemented to be applicable to player characters from what I have seen. 3 hours ago, Boeroer said: I assume some (inhouse?) tool might add those tags nowadays which it didn't back in the old PoE days - and since they didn't patch PoE for a very long time it might be that the updated tool just automatically added those in the scope of the newest patch? That would be my own assumption as well. Most likely the result of a more recent addition made to OEI Tools (the internal tool used by Obsidian) for use in Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, and future Obsidian games. And not really indicative of any specific plans for a Pillars games. Edited Sunday at 11:43 AM by Kvellen 2
