Hubby had a new round of MRI/x-rays done and sent to a surgeon for analysis. The non-surgeon back doctor has now also mentioned disabling/removing (something) the nerves around the affected spine/vertebrae, re: pain management, if the back surgeon doesn't think disc/other major surgery is a course. Which sounds better than spinal fusion (maybe) but then again, pain exists for a reason. Wouldn't want to have zero pain to let you know if you're over-extending. As always we'll see.

When they mentioned the nerve disabling tho, I have to say that what lept into my mind immediately was Serenity/Mal and the "shrapnel tore out that nerve cluster" moment.

Our search started out looking at Maytag and Samsung, but as soon as I scrolled down to the customer comments section I saw they were getting torn apart for various issues, so we noped out on those brands. And Im not talking about the lone angry pissant, Ill read all of the 1* reviews and look for a pattern of failures. I also just remembered that I need to go buy a new set of hot/cold hoses and a new gas line.

Some mild construction work on the house this weekend (the two shade structures, finally). Pretty noisy, couldn't sleep through it, haha.  It'll be nice to have a real shade extension cover for summer tho - not just the cheap hard plastic sheeting that still lets some UV light through. Weather's heating up.

Switch 2 arrived today (still thinking Nintendo should have called it the Super Nintendo Switch). 

The old USB-C charger of the Switch is not compatible with the new dock. It'll load the console when docked, but you'll not get an image on the TV. The console will very happily tell you that it needs the new charger when you put it into the dock after it's done setting everything up, but not during the initial dock setup. Nintendo doing Nintendo things, I suppose. 

Played like ten minutes of Mario Kart World. The gameplay's pretty slow at 50cc and pretty easy, my mother was able to win her first race without knowing the track. I know it's not uncommon to just win 50cc races for regular players, but my mother has Parkinson's and recently had surgery on her left hand to fix some nerve damage that made her not feel much of anything with it. In light of that I think it's fair to say with some confidence that the game's easy mode is really, really easy this time around.  

Bundled game is just a download code though. I mean that's fine for me, but it might annoy others.

"Hello sir, I am calling from technical support about your computer."

"We see that there is strange activity from your computer on our server..."

 

I hung up on her but I really would have loved to know how the scam would have proceeded.

I guess they try to hijack your PC or get you to pay for some service. I get those a lot, from "The Company that handles my Microsoft computer".  Amusing.

At least I caught one off guard, he was claiming to be my grandson, so I said I was glad he called to reconcile after what his Dad did to him. 

These scammers are trash, need to put in ditches.

Well, not to sound negative, but that is a holiday specifically for a minority of the population. For most people it has little relevance. We might as well make Cinco de Mayo a holiday while we're at it.

Disagree since we collectively ended slavery as a nation and I think that it is important that everyone can take ownership of that. It's not a very well known holiday to be sure but it's definitely for everyone.

Cinco de Mayo is bigger in the US than in Mexico but it's a celebration of the Mexican Army over France so that really makes no sense... but I'll take any extra days off.

Well, except perhaps for the majority who migrated here following the civil war (including myself). The Brits abolished slavery in 1837, so we were a bit ahead of you chaps. But fair enough.

I saw someone call it a "DEI holiday" and I got to say the world would be a much better place if that guy choked on a phallic object.

Anyways as someone who grew up maybe an hour away from Galveston, it felt weird to realize how much of the states didn't know about Juneteenth. The US memory holes quite a bit I guess.

Miss Juneteenth (2020) is also probably one of the best Texas films there is.

Isn't it more about honoring the dead generally now? Doesn't sound too bad to me. Also sick outfits, kinda wish we had that here in germany.
