the qualifiers is noteworthy as you didn't mention one o' 'em when you marveled at her 868 year tenure, yes?

as kp would say, "naughty."

again, the duration o' her tenure is not all that remarkable, unless you start adding qualifiers. however, as already stated, am recognizing what is kinda surprising just how not unusual is the duration o' her tenure.

HA! Good Fun!

Surprising and concerning. At the risk of being labeled ageist, I find it disturbing just how common extremely old congressmen and congresswomen are. Not just for the age itself, but I also think it's generally bad to have people in positions of power that have been there for decades and decades. There's something to be said for experience, but there's also falling out of touch with what it's like to be a "commoner" which is nigh inevitable for a career politician. We need new blood for new perspectives.

don't wanna make this politics side-track, but we will note our position remains unchanged and am thinking if you wouldn't trust a person to drive an auto or operate a gas stove 'cause o' concerns about cognitive impairment, then occupying an article I, II, or III office should also be recognized as unreasonable. there is gonna be some unspecific point at which a person cannot do the job no more. seeing as is so difficult to identify that point, am thinking the obvious solution is to choose an arbitrary age as the cut off for those serving in article I, II or III offices. 'course such a change would take an amendment, so...

as to new blood and perspectives? nope. is not how democracy works. if the people want moribund representatives with old blood, and they cast votes for such representatives, then they should get the representatives they chose. furthermore it should be axiomatic that there is nothing inherent better about younger or newer perspectives.

that said, am personal a champion o' young and stoopid

even so, is nothing inherent better about new or young pov and for those who support democracy, some kinda preferential regard for new blood would be antithetical.

regardless o' the duration o' her tenure, at the end feinstein were too old and is unfortunate that her legacy were marred by what she could no longer do in her last couple years as 'posed to all she had accomplished in many decades o' service.

HA! Good Fun!

My dad was telling me when that he remembered a game where the Bears were playing the Falcons and he could see on a play Butkus with Falcons center Jeff Van Note in a headlock punching him in his face/facemask/helmet. A few plays later, Butkus went out with an injury and he always wondered if the Falcons offensive line had targeted Butkus for payback leading to the injury or if it was an accident.  Dad didn't say if this was the injury that Butkus went out on in '73 (I believe a groin injury) that lead to the doctor's saying his knees were so bad they didn't think he should be playing which ultimately lead him to retire.

Anyhow, always enjoyed Butkus in his second career as an actor when he'd pop-up in tv or movies. It seemed he ended up playing mostly weird nice guys rather than what you'd think his football reputation would have him playing. RIP.

She has moved on to the Great Thigh Master in the sky.

Side-note: Joyce DeWitt and Richard Kline are now the only remaining living OG members of Three's Company AFAIK.
