Expand I don't think there's a canon reason behind gene-seed being male-only besides "that's how the Emperor designed it", no. I could be wrong though. The books have a funny bit where Malcador says he told the Big E that the Primarchs should be sisters, that way they'd co-operate better. I guess that would have ripped off the Fish Speakers so too on the nose for the God Emperor Why has elegance found so little following? At least it works well though.
