Irvine, California – November 20th, 2018 - Genre-defining RPG developer Obsidian Entertainment, in partnership with indie powerhouse publisher Versus Evil, is today announcing that the final paid expansion, titled "The Forgotten Sanctum" for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, will arrive on December 13th.

“The Forgotten Sanctum” brings a new adventure to the Deadfire Archipelago as the Archmages of Eora seek the Watcher to assist in keeping a potential catastrophe that looks to be set by a fellow Archmage at bay. With new quests and an immense dungeon to explore, the Forgotten Sanctum awaits those brave enough to enter.

Alongside "The Forgotten Sanctum" comes the 4.0 update patch for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. This update brings with it a host of new features, additional God Challenges, and two new Mega Bosses for Watchers and their crew to battle against.

The final paid Deadfire DLC will launch on December 13th for $9.99 and is also included as part of the Season Pass and in the Obsidian Edition of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Features:

  • Traverse an expansive dungeon built into the flesh of a sleeping god.
  • Encounter the highest-level challenges yet faced by the Watcher and their companions.
  • Scheme with or defy the wills of Eora's most powerful wizards.
  • Two new mega bosses

Perfect for Corpse Eaters!

The flesh of a sleeping god sounds insanely cool. I wonder if my idle theory that there was a 12th Engwithan god that was malformed in creation or a faulty prototype, and that's what the 12th slot in the god challenge UI is for, will have anything to it

  • Encounter the highest-level challenges yet faced by the Watcher and their companions.
  • Two new mega bosses

They could put one of the megabosses inside the dungeon. :)

That's probably the last thing to come out, except perhaps for some patching.

Megabosses are free-for-everyone DLC, so they wouldn't put them in a paid-DLC location.

Robes. New robes.

I'll play it.

I'll play it twice.

Everything dies! That's the circle of life right there. Xoti could tell you that.

(And yes, most likely)

Nerf Troubadour!

Here's hoping Concelhaut's skull gets some love (and mayhap a line or two) in this expansion.

"More to come" at the end of the infographic... Maybe with the launch on consoles we will see new things, who knows. I will likely buy a new pass for other three expansions, that for sure.

oh man, crazy archmages, big dungeon, cosmic horror nonsense, theres something to be said for simple pleasures. im hyped for this.

if ur gonna do epic level content, feel this is the way. just get a 34,405 year old mage, make them nuts and put them in a towering/underground psychedelic deathtrap.

I AM A RENISANCE MAN

I concur. 'Tis a timeless trope itch to scratch.

ship respawn in patch 4 seems great too.

If they balance difficulty for veteran too would be amazing

Respawning ships remind me of these guys from Asterix comics:

What is good, because more Asterix is never a bad thing.

Asterix is an absolute treasure. I wonder how good the English translations are. (Could be superb for all I know.)

are there going to be new mechanics?  new spells? new abilities? new level cap? or all are the same but just dungeon and story?
