  2. Watched two low budget horror films THE STRANGENESS (1980) and BLUE MONKEY (1987) The Strangeness is almost student film level of lowbudget. A group (A company rep, a mining engineer, a pair of cave guides, a geologist and a writer and his girlfriend/collaborator) go to open a mine that closed decades ago after the miners refused to work any more amid disappearances and tales of a monster lurking in the mines. Despite skepticism, it is a monster picking off the group one by one. The plot is a little thin and padded, something that low budget films often happen. But it leads to some missing backstory that might have been interesting to see rather than some of what they did. Blue Monkey is essentially THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD in a hospital. A series of events with a sick man leads to a potentially apocalyptic outbreak and a pair of giant insects. A fun throwback to 50s Era monster movies with 1980s effects.
  3. First Topper is probably the best from memory. From a Thorne Smith book which is a solid start, and Young, Grant, Constance Bennet and Billie Burke are all solid. Second one has a lot of similar gags but loses Grant. Third is a comedy murder mystery with Joan Blondell as a new ghost pulling Cosmo into adventure (solving her murder) to the annoyance of his wife.
  4. Freaky Tales looked good from the trailers. Looking forward to seeing it eventually.
  5. Haunted house film from the perspective of a dog.
  6. Oh...*whew* I haven't completely lost it then!
  7. I saw Wing Commander in theaters and I wouldn't have known that Stamp was even in it until it was mentioned here. I think I memory holed that entire film.
  8. Terrance Stamp.
  9. Read Osamu Tezuka's ODE TO KIRIHITO. This is a very good - but very difficult - read. Human, fallible characters are brought to (or near) ruin by their - or others - greed, lust, desire, ambition, or need for revenge against the backdrop of a mysterious medical condition creeping out of a small isolated town in Japan. Some very human unpleasantness surrounding the fantastical elements.
  10. It's probably more up my alley, I guess!
  11. Finally started watching Future Boy Conan. First two episodes were good.
  12. They've been talking about a remaster for DS9 for years, but there's also a lot of people who believe the work to do it is prohibitively costly and most likely will never be done (same for Voyager).
  13. It's a coming of age drama with not-zombie zombies, imo.
  14. Hey all, I moved most (if not all) of the suggestion threads into the new forum created for feedback and suggestions. If you think your thread was incorrectly moved, let me know.
  15. I still need to watch Prodigy. I'm surprised I've liked LOWER DECKS as well as I have.
