  1. The cast so far is very, very promising. Although I hadn't quite imagined Sean Bean as Ned Stark, he should be a good match. I plan on reading most of the books during my two week summer vacation. I almost finished the first one.
  2. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800629...yid=13&cs=1 Not exactly the director I was expecting, but good news nevertheless. Chris Metzen will co-produce the movie, maybe he'll have the rest of the producers on a leash as they yell "less yappering, more swordfighting!" and "bigger monsters!"
  3. I just finished watching Departures (Okuribito), the winner of this year's Oscar for best foreign language film. It's about a man whose dream is crushed with only two words and decides to move back to his hometown and ends up working as an "encoffineer," the one who specializes in preparing bodies before they are put in the coffin. The story itself is quite beautiful in its own way, and I simply cannot recommend it highly enough. Everyone should see this film.
  4. I'm playing Ghostbusters: The Video Game these days. The PS3 version (due to my European heritage). Its really fun but it looks aweful and has a lot of framerate problems. The fact that it has most of the original cast attached to the game makes up for it.
  5. Well, if you don't like MadWorld, or No More Heroes, or Super Mario Galaxy, there's really no point in owning a Wii. Just my 2 cents. But to be on topic, I personally highly recommend MadWorld, No More Heroes, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Okami, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, World of Goo, Punch-Out!!, Mega Man 9, and Super Paper Mario. Seriously, give games a chance before you judge them.
  6. There's not a lot of companies in the industry that can guarantee 100% that their games will be both unique and great, but Team Ico is definitely one of them. I'll be picking this game up on day one.
  7. I've seen a lot of negative feedback to both the re-release as well as the new game and to be honest, they are undeserved. Both projects have been blessed by the holy hand of Ron Gilbert, and directed by Dave Grossman, also of Monkey Island fame. I can't wait to get my filthy hands on these new episodes.
  8. My copy of inFamous arrived by mail yesterday and I've been fooling around with it. It's fun, but it gets repetive when you've finished around 30% of the game. It's always the same routine - find a manhole, go to the sewers and power up a part of the city, go up again, kick ass for a few hours, find another manhole, sewers for 15 minutes, power up a part of the city, kick ass for a couple of hours and so on. The side missions are always the same as well... not a lot of variety, sadly.
  9. Lately I've been playing Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2. The game looks great for a PS2 game and is by far one of the best games of last generation. I also received a copy of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete with a Final Fantasy XIII demo today. I've played through the demo 3 times and might go for the fourth before today is over. Game looks spectacular and the battle system is fun. Next up on my schedule is Fallout 3, finally.
  10. Icewind Dale III wouldn't be out of the question. I do remember Feargus mentioning they had the IWD license, but that was a couple of years ago. At least I'm gonna keep my hope up, I want a good ol' dungeon crawler.
  11. I've spent less time on video games than I ought to lately. Final Fantasy VII International has been consuming my time since it was released in the Japanese PSN store last weekend. It's the first time I play it in Japanese (but probably 10th time overall) and I'm enjoying it as much as before, even though I'm struggling with a couple of kanji here and there. Resident Evil 5 has been stuck in my PS3 for a couple of weeks, but I haven't even played through the second chapter. I'm gonna take a turn this weekend and finish it and review it. When that's over, I have a copy of White Knight Chronicles waiting to be played. So many games, so little time. *sigh*
  12. I can't speak about all the Final Fantasy games, but Final Fantasy VII doesn't seem to be censored for US/EU release. Barrett doesn't swear nearly as much as he does in the English language version. Cloud is also a huge sissy in the Japanese version, and it pisses me off now and then. Aeris is what people would generally call a "**** tease," at least for the Midgar part of the game. I'm only at Junon right now, things might change. But, as I said, no apparent game breaking censoring so far.
  13. Hmm. Alpha Protocol will be bought, no matter how penniless I will be when it comes out. Dragon Age. I've been waiting for a new high fantasy game from BioWare. I suppose my wish will be granted later this year. I hope it will be worth it, else I'll burn someone at the stake. Br
  14. I'm intimidated by "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children w/ FFXIII demo" posters whenever I go a train station and it's driving me nuts. I've seen gameplay videos and screenshots on the net and in magazines and FF13 certainly turns me on. I had sworn not to buy it or play it but in the end I decided to have Amazon remind me when it becomes available for pre-order on Japanese Amazon. Instead, I have opted to play Final Fantasy VII, the first time I do so in Japanese, and wow, the game is completely different. The characters change radically between language versions, and the storyline gets a cheesier overtone.
  15. WarCraft: Orcs & Humans. I play it regularly. I still play nethack once in a while, though... and I recently played Leisure Suit Larry, the older version. Oh, and King's Quest.
  16. Well, I've been playing the Icewind Dale games for the past few weeks. It's my fifth run through Icewind Dale and first run through Icewind Dale II, and it really surprises me how well these games last. I'm having as much fun, even more fun, now as I did when I first played the game through. It's a classic dungeon crawler with beautiful graphics, even though they are outdated (3d being well, dominant in every game released today). Well, if Obsidian would develop the third game in the series, I'd be sure to buy it.
