  1. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will cover the phone market. It's an Android phone that plays PSP games.
  2. Sony is set to reveal the PSP2 the coming Thursday. It supposedly has the same graphics chip as the next generation iPhone, an OLED touch screen, and 3G support for internet (but no phone calls). http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/01/24/psp2_details/
  3. Well, Doing Things The Hard way is ridiculously difficult and I still haven't managed to get that shiny trinket, but I don't look at it as a frustrating element. Just a trial and error and surgical precision problem. As for Dead Space, I looked things up and found out that my computer is simply too fast for the game. In other words, if I want great framerate (150-220fps) I need to use a controller, but if I enable v-sync in-game the framerate is limited to 30fps and I can use the keyboard + mouse controls. I'm not too bothered by using a controller, the framerate is more important in my opinion.
  4. I finished playing VVVVVV yesterday. What a fantastic little flash game. It's challenging without being frustrating, and the music is fantastic. More people should play it. I returned to The Witcher, finally finishing chapter 1. I intend on pouring more time into that game in the coming weeks. I have to admit I found the sex scene with Abagail quite inappropriate. I mean, why would they have sex in a cave in front of a group of children when an angry mob just outside wants nothing more than to burn her? It's on those occasions that make me believe that when they say "for mature gamers" they mean "for virgins." I also started playing Dead Space. I bought it on steam back godknowswhen and I hadn't bothered to play it until now. To my dismay I found out that a) the mouse+keyboard controls are horrid and b) if I enable v-sync the game actually locks itself to 30fps. I solved 1) with an Xbox 360 controller and 2) by playing around with my nvidia control panel. It looks and plays really neat. I also checked out the beginning levels of F.E.A.R. and have decided to put more time into it once I've finished the other two games I'm playing. It doesn't look bad for something that was released 5 years ago.
  5. Exactly, you finally seem to have managed to grasp it. If you're not intent on buying the two games, this particular DLC is not targeted at you.
  6. Nintendo just confirmed the launch date and price for the Nintendo 3DS. March 27th $249.99 Wallets will cry.
  7. Except the publisher can still make some money off the second hand market by selling DLC, whereas the pirates would simply pirate it. That's the whole reason behind project $10. It's not to fight piracy but to find ways to make money off of the second hand market.
  8. The British feel the same way, but it doesn't necessarily mean they aren't.
  9. Again, I still think you are trolling me. This is not comparable. BioWare does not run a monopoly on video games and it does not force you to pay for the additional DLC. A game costs, in this case, $60. They offer you a product that generally costs $60. If you want to add features to the product you need to put down some money for them. A more comparable example would be cars. You can buy a standard model with standard equipment, or you can buy a model with leather seats, some neat gadgets, etc. and pay extra for it. It's all up to you. Again, it's all about the dough. Game store chains pay BioWare for special pre-order bonuses, these bonuses are then offered to the people who are willing to pre-order the game. If two or more store chains pay BioWare for pre-order bonuses, BioWare creates a bonus for each piece of resource (money) they have been offered by the clients. That way the stores can compete for customers based on the pre-order bonuses, but where each customer buys each game is irrelevant to BioWare because for each game sold, no matter the location, they get a set amount of money. It's fair play, nothing else. The price of toppings is irrelevant. What's relevant is that it costs extra to put toppings on and it's entirely up to you whether you get toppings or not. If you want to buy two margaritas instead of a pizza with a couple of toppings, then fine.
  10. Here being where? And why don't you consider Russia, Belarus or Ukraine a part of Europe?
  11. Well, Alaska was owned by Russia once, so it can be considered European by some standards.
  12. I never accused you of not paying for your games. I'm only stating that you are not willing to bring out bucks for the DLC but others are. Then you don't buy the DLC, and you don't play it. I never bought the horse armor, I skipped it. Seriously, just because something is for sale it doesn't mean you HAVE to buy it. As I said, times have changed and business models as well. You can look at DLCs as mini expansion packs. If you don't remember, there was a lot of games that DIDN'T get any expansion packs at all, and such is the case today as well. A lot of games STILL get expansion packs today, including Dragon Age, as you know. That's irrelevant and subject to each individual's tastes. I like modern games, and I like classic games. If you don't like some features of modern games, then you just don't like it. But it doesn't necessarily mean that it's UNIVERSALLY bad, only that you don't like it. After reading this I am almost 100% sure that you are an internet troll not worthy of discussion. Surely you cannot be serious to compare DLCs with Ponzi schemes and investment frauds. It just doesn't work that way. What I mean is that you don't shell out money for each individual DLC and thus miss out on it when it is first released. A lot of OTHER people do. Don't take my words out of context, it's not cool, yo. DLC is to monetize off the early adapters, who buy games shortly after release and then crave for more. DLC compilations and GOTY/Ultimate editions are for people who have the patience to wait until everything is packed into one neat package, such as yourself. Think of your games as pizzas. Let us say that you pay $10 for a margarita pizza. For each extra topping you need to shell out a dollar. So, if you want a pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese right now, you need pay $12 for the pizza. Alternatively, you know that the restaurant regularly has special deals where they offer a pizza with two or more toppings for $10, but alas, they are not offering it today (even though you can see where they keep the toppings right in front of you!). You have two options: Either to pay extra $2 for extra cheeze and some delicious pepperoni, or you can patiently wait until they offer that sweet deal they occasionally have. The choice is up to you.
  13. Hassat Hunter, you are obviously very upset that you need to pay for things, but this is 2011, not 2001. Games change, business models change, customers change. If someone is willing to pay $5 or $10 for an extra character and a mission then they will try to exploit that. People like you don't shell out the money and thus miss out on it. It's like an auction. It goes to the highest bidder!
  14. I can't deny Devil May Cry 4 looks mighty fine on PC.
  15. Wait, did Steam even HAVE Neverwinter Nights 2 before today?!
  16. First day I don't buy anything off the sale. Not that I am in want of anything; I already possess four items on today's list. Batman: Arkham Asylum is a steal for that price. Great game. Tropic 3 is also a quirky little thing and is well worth the $6 for the complete pack. And getting both special editions of Monkey Island for under $4 is very good bang for the buck. They only once topped that, when they were selling the games for $0.99 for the iDevices.
  17. It was on sale for something like $5 in November and even then I didn't bother to pick it up. Take it as you like.
  18. My favourite arcade racer for $5?! Oh, Steam, what would I do without you!
  19. I grabbed Super Meat Boy, VVVVV, Civilization IV Complete, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Great games and it only cost me $20-ish. Super Meat Boy and VVVVV especially are worth their respective price tags.
  20. I respect your opinion but frankly disagree.
  21. The new expansion pack is fantastic. It's a bit of a shame the additional high level content wasn't as substantial as the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, but seeing they pretty muched changed everything the level 1-60 (especially 1-40) I cannot say I'm disappointed. In fact, I'm only disappointed over how dated The Burning Crusade content feels. I hit Outlands a couple of days ago and it just doesn't live up to the rest of the game, it's like hitting a brick wall, especially thanks to the two-three man quests which can be quite challenging when soloing.
  22. they're both platformers? I dunno, maybe you consider Uncharted 2 an action-RPG I've started to think you've played neither of these games.
  23. Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are the best reasons for anyone to buy a PS3 in my opinion, no matter what anyone else says. Great games. Uncharted 3 is a day one buy, no doubt about that.
  24. I'm hopping between World of WarCraft, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening (PS3 version) and Vanquish, which I acquired today. There seems to be some problem with my internet connection which makes my mains in World of WarCraft unplayable (as strange as it sounds!), so I've been playing around with an undead hunter. It's amazing how short it takes to level up your characters now. I started last weekend and I'm level 52 already. I guess my next character will be a goblin *something* or a holy cow, because I'm really, really enjoying the game as it is. It's so much more smooth out than what it was before. I had to start over in Awakening because I realized I blew my only chance of getting Oghren, the only warrior, into my party for some reason. I haven't been playing it too much because World of WarCraft and school (damn mid-term exams) take away too much time that I could spend playing games. I have to admit that Awakening feels like a step backwards from Origins, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless. Well, as soon as I finish off Awakening and the DLC I can finally start playing the PC version and gear up for Dragon Age 2! I never planned on buying Vanquish, but I couldn't resist when I happened upon it in Bic Camera where it was being sold with a 60% discount. I haven't played it awefully much (tests, WoW), but I'm impressed with what I've seen thus far. Huge boss fights, mechs you can ride, loads of enemies, hectic action, power sliding, a bullet time system... you name it, it has everything (except for multiplayer). I can't wait to be able to put more time into it. It's also nice to see Sega putting all these different languages on the disc, I'm thrilled by being able to play it with Japanese menus, English text and German/Italian/French/whatever voice overs!
  25. I have to admit I find the fourth day sale is quite uninteresting. I already have the games I'm interested in from the Orange Box (Half-Life 2 and Portal, and I haven't even finished HL2), Mount and Blade Warband doesn't seem to be what makes me tick, and I already own World of Goo. In fact, I was so disappointed that I decided to buy the Indie Pulse Pack and King's Bounty: Crossworlds which were still being offered at a discounted price ca. 30 minutes after the new deals popped in. I wonder what's in store for Cyber Monday.
