  1. Awesome build. This is something I've been thinking about for awhile, and I'm currently trying a slightly different variation on. Two questions: 1). Any advice on stockpiling ingredients for scrolls? 2). Anyone have a list of fun spellholding items anywhere?
  2. Out of curiosity is there a reason you would take a second level 1 ability over sap, or were you referring of the other high level abilities? Excellent point. I hadn't considered that all the other bonuses only effect damage. Can any of the resident formula experts confirm my assumption in #3 that all those damage bonuses are additive?
  3. Jojobobo thanks for the advice. I was thinking something like: M: 14 - A little bonus but not worth pumping C: 8 - A minor penalty D: 18 - Improves attack speed and casting speed P: 15 - Hitting things is good and I like some of the dialog options I: 15 - Duration, increased AOE for spells. Shame it doesn't effect traps R: 8 - A minor penalty
  4. Couple quick rogue questions: 1). Which of the high level (9+) abilities are worth getting? Obviously death blows is amazing but I'm less sure about the other ones. 2). Since Reckless Assault and Savage Attack don't seem to stack any more which do you consider the better choice? 3). To my knowledge all damage bonuses are additive (criticals, death blows, reckless assault, might) does that mean that rogues effectively get the least benefit from investing in might?
  5. Nice build as always. I have two quick questions: 1). Is there any synergy between Novice Suffering and the Reaping Knives? 2). Is there some reason firsts would work better than stilettos or sabers in the early game?
  6. There are 3 basic Druid builds: Shifter (see hungry like the wolf build) Talents are used to optimize spirit shifted into a DPS machine. Weapon Style: Two Weapons Armor: Medium-Heavy (need to survive unshift) Tanky Druid (see batsh!t crazy build) Talents are used to make your unshifted form a spell casting tank. Weapons Style: Sword and Shield Armor: Heavy Caster Talents are used to improve elemental damage and defenses. Weapon Style: Ranged Armor: Light Regardless I would recommend heart of the storm and the chaotic storms spells for maximum carnage. The Like a Thinder build also provides a good overview.
  7. What difficulty are you playing on? Whenever having multiple characters with the same class you want to diversify roles. So make one a sword and board "tank" ranger, one the two handed specialist ect... Also cross class talents like gallant aura can help make up for some missing classes. Tidefall is an awesome weapon for a melee ranger. Remember you get several benefits when a ranger attacks the same target as their pet In my opinion you biggest challenge will be having no AOE damage and no CC abilities. Cipher, wizard, druid or priest would be my top recommendations to help.
  8. Angio's Gambeson - How does this compare to cloth armor? It's obviously faster than other light armors, but when you factor in the recovery time (20% vs 0%) is it faster than cloth?
  9. Thanks guys. For non-main character (GM in my case): +2 Rest bonus +2 Gloves of Manipulation +3 Scroll bonus (if I can find one) For main character: +1 Dungeon Delver +1 Gjefa bonus +2 Rest bonus +2 Gloves of Manipulation +3 Scroll bonus (if I can find one)
  10. I'm going to second cipher as feeling the most plot connected. Also if you give your cipher high mechanics (and possibly some stealth) they will be the main "explorer" for your group looking for traps and hidden treasure. Cipher does great damage (ranged or melee) and has some great powers you can user every encounter. Alternatives: Druid - Very versatile, able to use animal forms, lots of powerful spells with beginner friendly targeting. Main downside is needing to rest for spells. Paladin - You can RP your chosen order. Also can have a high res to charm/convince your way through encounters. Main downside is less active skills (especially early). Monk - Great damage and lots of fun active abilities (assuming you're taking damage). Main downside is wound mechanic, you need to take damage to use your abilities. Also you can take a look at the build list (pinned at top of board) if you want some help on how to build these classes. Definitely not need, but it might help with feeling overwhelmed.
  11. I'm looking for ways to boost mechanics on an existing character. I know about the +2 rest bonus from Gilded Vale and the +2 from the gloves of manipulation. 1). There is no consumable that boosts mechanics right? If I'm wrong what/where is it? 2). Are there any other pieces of equipment that boost mechanics and do they stack with the gloves of manipulation?
  12. I'm going to assume your playing on hard or harder, if your on normal or below you don't need to worry. 1). The Backlash Bedlam build (from the pinned build list) is the only tank cipher build I know of. With that said I find melee ciphers tend to work better when played like DPS rogues, going in after your tanks to attack priority targets. They can definitely take a few hits, but if multiple enemies are surrounding them it tends to not end well. 2). My thoughts on Priest and Druid: Do you need a priest? No. Can a druid be an adequate healer to keep your party alive? Yes. Are there unique buffs you can't get without a priest? Yes. Can the druid help in other ways a priest can't? Yes.
  13. Yeah... something's not right in PoE at the moment. Double ACC malus from Savage Attack, Thrust of Tattered Veils procs twice, and now I discovered that Iconic Projection hits multiple times while it passes the enemy/allies. It not only does it's described damage/healing, but a lot more. If the target is big (Spidr Queen, Ogres and the like) they get hit up to 6 times with it. I can't say I saw that in former game versions - prior to 3.0. They screwed up some core mechanic or something. Sounds a lot like like bore from Borderlands 2. You could get an attack to multiply as it went through multiple hit boxes. Not as extreme, but it sounds similar.
  14. So you're saying if I want to use high int to fill the screen with torment's reach I better hurry before it gets fixed?
  15. A thing to keep in mind is that Torment's Reach is full attack. So equipping two sabres will benefit it greatly. (namely: Resolution, Purgatory, Bittercut). Another approach is to make use of proc effects. Prone from We Toki and stun from CladhalĂath can affect everyone in the cone. I knew that it was a full attack, but I had no idea it was also a carnage cone that could proc effects. That's awesome.
  16. I would be interested in seeing your 3.0 build. Quick lash question. If I had 25% fire and 25% lightning that would be 25% fire damage vs 25% fire DR and 25% lightning damage vs 25% lightning DR right? So if stacking was +50% lightning damage vs 25% lightning DR that would make lots of sense (less so if it was again 50% lightning DR). Any recommendations on weapons that work well for monks?
  17. I have two quick questions: 1). If I had my heart set on force on anguish what ability would you recommend getting rid of? Crucible of Suffering? 2). You mentioned something about turning wheel and lightning strike lashes not stacking, is that fixed? Also if I'm using weapons and they have lashes would they stack for a triple lash?
  18. It skips the reload not just the reload animation/recover right? Fire pistol -> Dual Wield -> pistol will still result in reloading when you get back to the pistol right?
  19. 2a. I would take any information on which armor enchantments can be overwritten/upgraded as well. 3. Yeah that's what I was assuming. Would corrode make sense as a less resisted element? Or do most of the enemies that count have a shared elemental vulnerability (or lack of resistance). 5a). I'll take any information/suggestions about armor as well.
  20. I just want to check a few things before I start enchanting since their seems to be no recovering if you make a mistake. 1). Am I correct that item enchantments can never be removed? 2). Is it true that you can upgrade the "quality" enchantments (superb, legendary...) of an item multiple times? Those are the only enchantment that can be overwritten right? 3). I'm guessing most popular weapon enchants are: quality, lash, slayer (situational)? Preferred lash probably being lightning/corrode since they are less resisted (unless character already has bonuses to certain elements)? Preferred slayer probably being Kith or Beast? 4). Durgan-Refined is handled separately and doesn't count against enchant capacity right? 5). Anything else I should know?
  21. Very nice. I was thinking of a primal theme with Barbarian, Druid and Ranger. Since both Druid and Ranger can flex between melee and range it gives some nice options.
  22. I don't think the system is perfect, but it significantly improved the relevance of stats. Think of how many low int low wis barbarians littered the D&D landscape. In Pillars those barbarians wouldn't be able to hit anything and would have a criminally small carnage. I also like that you can tailor attributes based on your build priorities. Want to pump con and res to 18 to make a riposte rogue, go for it.
  23. It's not as optimal as AndreaColombo's build above but certainly workable. You lose three things: 1). Wolf run speed (which helps get to more targets) 2). Wildstrike Corrode doesn't synergize as well. Heart of the storm boost Wildstrike Shock and your lightning spells. 3). You'll attack slower since you boosted CON instead of DEX On the other hand you'll have more health/endurance and since it looks like your trying to do a regen tank that might work.
  24. Okay so I have a stronghold. I fixed the road south, the main keep and the place I can sleep. My question is now what? 1). How quickly/how much money should I be throwing at these upgrades? I'm in Act 2 and trying to figure out much I should be spending on this relative to getting new equipment and spells. 2). I actually lost money between taxes and bandits this last cycle. Any advice on getting/keeping revenue positive? 3). Are certain upgrades substantially better, or is it mostly a bunch of +2 prestige/+1 security unlocks? 4). Do most of you eventually fully upgrade the place or is it more get these 10 upgrades (I'd love a list) and leave it as is?
