  1. [i suspect that ] You[']r[e] older th[a]n me [, then]. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That explains your grasp of grammar, then. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, wouldn't his post indicate a poor grasp of spelling? In fact, your version of the sentence changed kyle's post from a statement of fact to a suspicion by adding in an extra clause, namely, "I suspect that". Indeed, by editing the grammar of the sentence and apparently seeming to correct it while instead changing the meaning of the sentence, would that not suggest a poor grasp of grammar on your own part? " In proper English, kotorkyle's statement would simply be "You are older than me", not "I suspect that you're older than me, then." EDIT: Oh, and you kept "you're" capitalised, puting a capital letter in the middle of a sentence for something other than a proper noun. Tut tut.
  2. The only complicated thing about building a computer is making sure the mounts for the motherboard are screwed into the right part of the case. And once the motherboard is on, everything else is unbelieveably easy. Pretty much every thing you have to put into the computer involves plugging it in to the one socket on the motherboard that it will fit into, or any one of the many sockets it will fit into. As long as you don't buy an Intel chip for an Athlon board, or visa-versa, building a computer is simple. A local PC hardware shop will provide you with the components you need, and will usually offer you free and good advice on what to buy. Plus, knowing that you did it with your own two hands will give you a great sense of manly satisfaction. "
  3. *Sniff* No...no Sega Saturn? :'( If it was there, the Saturn would win hands down for me for no reason other than NiGHTS, without a doubt the greatest game ever created. If games were cars, Alpha Centauri would be a hovercar, but NiGHTS would be the farking starship Enterprise. But with that not present, I'd have to go for the SNES. So many great memories (and Roms ").
  4. There's a great game called "Throw out your evil PSP and buy a DS, you misguided heathen!" You should try it. "
  5. Oh god, no, Shadow, don't do that. If you play SMAC before playing Civ 4, it will only make you conclude that Civ 4 is crap when you get it. Playing SMAC to decide if you'd like Civ 4 is like driving a Hovercar to decide if you'd like Ferraris. It doesn't matter how good the Ferrari is, it's going to suck compared to the hovercar. "
  6. Well, good luck. One other thing to bear in mind is that for the first few adventures, you should try to keep a good balance of role-play and combat, along with obstacles that require the players to think their way out of or around a problem. With this advice comes the even stronger advice that you have to observe your players to see what they like. Once you know what your players want, you can let them have it as the major part of your campaign, reducing the importance of other parts such that they stay interesting without boring your players because they'd rather not do it.
  7. You suck, Steve! "
  8. Here's their "interview" with the guys at Something Awful. "
  9. Isn't that what many amusement park stuff does? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a feeling that Rosbjerg isn't worried about people voluntarily putting themselves in this situation by playing an amusement park game. Maybe (just maybe) he's worried about using this on people against their will. I mean, I realise what a truly wild interpretation of his words that is, but I think I might be on to something. "
  10. I came to these here forums in the hopes of fixing the problems I was having with KotOR 2. Never were they solved, but this was my first post, complaining about my problem where the dialogue would zip by in the blink of an eye until it got to a dialogue option:
  11. The next stupid war is officially Reveilled's fault. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Declaring a war without anyone in government actually doing anything would be a mightily impressive feat. Would the president psychically transmit the order to attack?
  12. I have one word to answer that: Daikatana. Daikatana. Gaming development is a bell curve, I think. The longer a game takes, the better it gets, until at a certain point it starts getting a lot worse. But maybe this will be an exception. I doubt it, though.
  13. Hmm...I would say that if George would rather fret over The Onion than run the United States, that's okay with me. Mind you, there's very few people in American politics who I would like to see running the United States. The more of them fretting over the Onion, the better. At least that way, things could hardly get worse, right? "
  14. I wonder if any of our Diplomacy players are playing two countries. <_<
  15. Hmm...how can I phrase this so the post doesn't get deleted for being too obscene... My last girfriend dumped me because I yelled out in pain when she bit me in a painful place during an intimate act that was supposed to involve her toungue instead of her teeth. Of course, the idea that I might take her not speaking to me for six months as being dumped might be interpreted as me being dumped apparently didn't enter her mind when she phoned me up six months later, presumably after getting dumped herself, and made like everything had been on pause since that horrible, almost homosexualising night. If we had a thread on crazy girlfriends, I could fill a few posts with her.
  16. I've only ever had one alt account, and that was on a different forum which I hadn't visited for years, where my old username had some..."baggage" attached to it. Other than that, I truly don't see the point in them. For that matter, I think having two at once is bloody silly, as evidenced in the previous pages. Why not just post it all under the one name?
  17. You know, forget anything bad I ever said about you. " Are the units going to stay where they are or are they going to (were supposed to) be removed? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Units from countries in Civil Disorder hold their positions until dislodged, whereupon they are disbanded without retreats, or if the Supply Centres of the units' nations are captured and the number of units outstrips supply.
  18. Woah. Seeing all those provinces as neutral is...wierd. It's almost like Bulgaria has conquered half of Europe.
  19. All done now.
  20. Hmm. Discounting Ender, I have three of the four builds I need. Thus, I'm going to go ahead with the adjudication. Ready soon.
  21. Those things are the unit killing itself, not the knight killing it. Again it makes no sense in the combat resolution. There isnt any way to rationalise it, it probably wont spoil the game though, as long as its not a common occurance. If the Helicopter wasn't in battle with the knights, there would be no chance of the crash. The knights aren't doing the killing, the combat is. I don't see how this doesn't make sense. In real life battles, a lot more than just the fighters affects the outcome. If we assume that the combats in Civ are actual battles, such things should be taken into account if one wishes to imagine the course of the battle. The second clause of the first sentence doesn't follow from the first. Why must they be combat ready? Combat in Civ is an abstraction. Unless surprise is modeled in the simulation in some other way, or someone from Firaxis explicitly said otherwise, I don't see why a surprise attack cannot be imagined as being a part of that abstraction.
  22. Actually, no. I'm talking about Chocobos.
  23. It should still make some sort of logical sense though. You would have to really apply the imagination to rationalise knights taking out a helicopter (well unless you were playing TORN ) It isnt ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, I don't think it takes that much imagination. Helicopter crashes due to pilot error. Helicopter crashes due to bad weather. Badly damaged helicopter suffers mechanical malfunction and crashes. And I certainly don't remember anywhere where anyone officially associated with the Civ games has said all the units are assumed to be combat ready. Source?
  24. Helicopter runs out of fuel, or runs out of ammo, crashes due to pilot error, crashes due to bad weather, etc. etc. "
  25. Final Fantasy! "
