  1. I don't think i ever seen anybody ever 'telling' a story as badly as in the Star Wars prequels, and a stupid and boring story at that too. The number one rule in film making is 'show them, don't tell them', and Goerge Lucas committed the number one atrocity in film story telling : he spoon fed his audience at every turn. If that's not bad story telling, i don't know what is...
  2. Well, i whatched the original trilogy ONCE at a friend house, but i don't own any of the films (i was too old by then). I own the entire Dark Force series even considering the last 2 weren't that great, but that's because i'm a FPS whore. I bought KOTOR only because there weren't many RPGs around and i needed something to play. It turned out to be suprisingly good, but that's that. Right now i'm here because of Chris Avellone and the reast of his team, and i was here even before KOTORII was announced. All in all i couldn't really give less then a crap about Star Wars...
  3. Why do previews always have to be so press-release like, naive peices of political corrected garbage ?!? I rarely read previews anymore. Anybody NOT from the press who managed to play the game ?!?
  4. The fact that he can act 'better' still doesn't mean he can act at all. But you are right, even the most talented have to subside to George Lucas crapness as a director. I actually thought Ewan Macgregor turned in a good performance despise all odds, everybody else just felt like they were bored to death, and they propably were, too. Can't blame them though, Harrison Ford said it best when he shouted : 'You can write this sh*t, but you can't say it'. It's evident Lucas didn't learn his lession, you go George...
  5. Zeratul of course, a stupid puppet is no match for a Dark Templar...
  6. 1) Story 2) Characterization 3) Roleplaying options
  7. Well, since they are releasing the sequel within the next few months (hopefully), and since they are porting the original on the new engine (i think as a stand alone product, but it will also be included in the Special Edition of HL2), this is the best time to give it a try System Shock 2 was also a very fine game, defenatly worth playing...
  8. Not at all, the reason why Anakin sucks so much is because : 1) Lucas has become a terrible director and screenwriter 2) Christian Hayden can't act 3) Lucas conception of evil sucks as much as Bioware's.
  9. Er..., dude, i was being sarcastic... B)
  10. Mmmh, you forgot the most important element of first person view : immersion. This is why first person game always need to have the best graphics and the best interactivity, it's a direct result of the need for immersion. In those games you don't just play a character, YOU are the character and you are seing the world throught your own eyes. That's also why games like Half Life are the most popular, because they tell a story not throught cinematics or dialog, but by showing you directly. This is what all the buzz around games like Half Life 2 is all about...
  11. I don't under, who cares ?!?
  12. What, you don't like George Lucas? Why? Without him there would be no Star Wars and life as we know it would end... (ok,maybe that's slightly exaggerated...) I don't have a quarrel with this man : But this guy needs to die :
  13. I think they should have a George Lucas look-alike NPC. You get 10 light side points if you kill him...
  14. Not if i can help it. I'm talking about Anakin has portrayed in the movies. Naa, i'm actually convinced Anakin has a twin brother there somewhere that is the true Dark Lord. I mean, let's face the facts. In the first movie, he is 8 year old, but was still smart enought to build a droid and program his positronic brain, which is an astounding feat under all standards, let alone from a 8 year old child. Even assuming he was a genius of legendary proportions (which he's not), where did he learn that stuff ?!? And what we see ?!? A spoiled, stupid child who couldn't even operate the control panel of simple fighter even considering he had a droid behind his neck beeping his aluminum arse and telling him exactly what to do. Clearly, the super genius who build the robot and the retarded brad we've been shown in the movie aren't the same person. Later on, we see Anakin as a grown teenager, headstrong, impulsive, and still quite retarded. He didn't even had the common sense to suggest Padame (arguably a very influencial political element of the senate) to keep an eye on his family back on Tantoonie. He forgets everything about his mother, and then gets pissed off when he learns she has been killed, well hallo, couldn't see that coming, did ya ?!? Throught the whole movie we seen Anakin spout the most retarded remarks and engange in the utmost idiotic actions. I mean, he makes such a fuss for having to leave Padme behind, but at the end he agrees with Obi-one they have to face Dooku togheter if they want a chance to defeat him, and what does he do, he charges Dooku by HIMSELF and get his ass handed to him. Clearly, such a goof couldn't possibly be the one the Jedi were waiting for. Yoda was right, such a punk should have never been traned in the way of the Jedi, he is too stupid for it. The last bit of his tranformation (falling into a Volcano) was his own fault too, figures, i should have imagined it couldn't have been any other way. In the meantime, Palpatine is propably training the true Dark Lord while the Jedi waist time with that Punk... Funny that you say that, i also consider Luke a punk myself and propably not the true balancer of the force. I'm thinking that he too had a twin brother there somewhere, which was trained by Yoda all along whilst Darth Vader wasted time thinking about Luke...
  15. More proof Goerge Lucas is an idiot, by undermining the only Jedi worth a sh*t in his prequels. But then again, after blaming the force on genetics, i guess it doesn't matter how cool a character can be he's bound to lose against the more 'fortunate' sods of the lot. In the OT, there was no 'luck', just the force. Destinity itself was shaped by it, the force wasn't just about a bunch of lame super hero powers. I always assumed Obi-one was one of the principal contributors in bringing balance to the force, which also suggested he was very strong in it (by mere power of WHO he was, not on who his parents were). Darth Maul was palpatine apprentice, which basically puts him on a higher order of power, and we've seen Dooku holding up against Yoda himself. In both cases, Obi-one was able to handle himself admirably, considering who he was facing. Anakin he's supposed to be ONE, the strongest of all of them, but his character doesn't reflect this. Anakin is a punk, and in the old conception of the force he wouldn't have never had a chance to become Vader. Indeed, i think him tripping over and falling into an active volcano was the force itself realizing that punk couldn't possibly be the next Dark Lord and figured that a little schorching lava would perhaps help some
  16. I'm going to whatch Episode III for that scene alone. Partly because Obi-wan is my favored character in the movie, partly because i hate Anakin even more then i hate Jar-Jar, and partly because i know that would be the last Star Wars movie Lucas is ever going to make. Hopefully, he's going to turn into a senile old goon and somebody else will make a good Star Wars sequel, for a change...
  17. Those weren't evil choises, those acts were completely phsycotic. You see, my conception of 'evil' is that of a ruthless, self centered and immoral individual who does everything for his own interest. This doesn't mean this individual can't be human. Your conception of evil seems to be as shallow and black and white as Lucas or Bioware's. The fact is that in real life things aren't as simple. There are many reasons why a person may grow up (notice how we were all children once) to be a ruthless buissness man, or a criminal, or even a drug lord, you can't brush off this people by saying 'they are evil', i bet you that 9 out of 10 you won't find a single criminal who enjoys the act of killing others for it's own sake. Take the mafia for instance. Ruthless, sensless killers, and yet, in a sense, loyal to their families and their loved ones. In prison, if you are a child molester, you won't last a day, because even the most hardened of criminals still repude the idea of messing with a child, would that make this people 'less' evil, or it's just that they are human beings like the rest of us ?!? Fact is, even the most ruthless of drug lords would no less love to spend his life in a tropical island rather then kill innocent people for the fun of it. In KOTOR, i wanted to play the introspect, calm and ruthless Sith Lord (a little like the Sith Master on Korriban, who was polite even, but make no mistake about his true nature), who's only goal was to the pursue of absolute power. My character wouldn't have bothered taunting that alien on taris or frying that poor guy on the sith base, why even bother ?!? My character wouldn't have turned the two families against each on Taris, but would have helped them in anyway possible in order not to give the council any supsition about my true intents. Infact, with Bastilla at my side, i would have played the archtypical hero stereotype throught and throught, becuase it would have been in my best interest. I mean, Do you ever see Palpatine fry innocent people on the streets and force choke random members of the senate nobility ?!? His position within the senate wouldn't last half a second. Instead, all you were allowed to play was that phsychotic idiot you meet on one of the sith tombs, pathetic...
  18. Frankly, i'd rather prefer if the Dark Sith of this game was a normal person. Disfigured characters are becoming cliches, and i'm getting rather tired of it, and to be frank, i think they could add a lot more deph to the game if they made the dark lord redeemable as well. A symphatetic nemesis...
  19. A pity, even more considering Lucas Arts opeted for some 'obscure' replacement rather then another worthy composer. Hopefully it will all turn out well, hopfully..
  20. I don't remember this on the PC version, but then again, loading was so fast it propably wouldn't have mattered anyway...
  21. Funny, a lance would totally destroy a light saber in a duel, if real combat is anything to take into consideration...
  22. That has nothing to do with what i'm trying to say. The point is to try to resolve the problem of hitting your beloved 'honest' cap well before the end of the game. Since the game WILL end eventually, why not just allow the player to simply level as long as the game allows and that's it ?!? If you are afraid he's going to be too powerful, simply balance the number of XPs avaible so that the character will eventually end up around a reasonable level span (which was Bioware should have done in the first place, cap or no cap), and that's it, problem solved. Reatching your maximum level within 2/3 of the game, now, THAT'S just dumb...
  23. Very well, Torment had a 'virtually' unreachable level cap, happy now ?!? I don't take into account whatever cheese tactics or exploits a few fanatics may use in a game to gain unparalled power, the fact is that for most normal players Torment was reasonably balanced to end within a certain level limit, and yet there was no cap, or at least the cap was so hight to be almost unreatchable. (you would have to cloudkill so many worms to reatch level 99 you'd better off just shoot yourself in the head). The point is that it worked, so why not ?!? In BG1 i had reatched the cap beofre completing 2/3 of the game. It pissed me off immensely, and i would have thought Bioware would have learned by their mistake, but apparently i was mistaken...
  24. You can thank the new prequels for that, and Bioware for basing their game off them instead then the original trilogy...
  25. You are not ditching anybody, they are just lagging behind not far form you, you defenatly don't need to wait for them to cross a stupid door, how realistic would that be ?!? It's not like they don't know where you are going, stop threating your NPCs like children...
