What I like about your photos is that they capture the extraordinary attributes of ordinary items. Nothing makes this clearer than your latest offering. Moreover, there's something intriguing about it. I see it and I start to wonder what kind of day it was. Was it cloudy and stormy? Was it cold? Did you see your breath as a thin, white whisp of moisture? Maybe it was one of those early spring storms where the rain comes down but the air stays warm. A comfortable sort of rain. The only criticism I have, and I'm not sure it's all that valid, is that you took away the oportunity to use my own imagination to finish your picture. You gave me the details, and I thought they were interesting, before you gave me the pictures. Maybe put the pictures above. That way my imagination can roam freely but I'll still get the story behind your photography. Anyhow, I like them no matter what, so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Violent video game law scotched by US judge
Cantousent replied to metadigital's topic in Computer and Console
Parents don't take responsibility for themselves. Probably a lot of folks on these fora don't take responsibility for themselves. The problem with the law in this case is that it encourages folks to abdicate self-restraint, parental oversight, and responsibility and rely on the government. That's ultimately a losing proposition. We have to draw the line of free speech somewhere, but this law was clearly on the wrong side of that line. -
Damn, I wish I had a nine blade. The sigil stones aren't all that great. I have no patience for recharging the items and it's expensive as hell at any rate. I just sell everything and pick up the next blade I find. By the way, It's sometimes a long haul between good blades.

Hunger is the best sauce.

jackass. Can I say that on the internet? As an aside, it's good to see you around more lately, Monte. I know you hate setimentality, so I'll leave it at that. :Eldar's slapping Monte on the shoulder and offering him a cold brew icon: Anyhow, I guess I should post a picture of my current desktop. Here goes:

'Dark Messiah of M&M' interview, 2 gameplay movies
Cantousent replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
I'm leery of it, but I have my hopes. I loved the Might and Magic series. I hated it when 3DO drove it into the ground. I have mixed feelings about what I've seen so far, but I'm going to keep an eye on this one. -
Good Lord, Lare. That's not the problem with taks' post. The problem is how hard it is to get past the third vampyre. It's simple, run back and forth fireblasting him. It'll be short work! :Eldar's ribbing his friend taks icon: Seriously, I'm not for being a Vampire, but I might do that arc just to see how I like the path out of darkness theme.

A say.

Yes, I've heard of the power of summons but I have, as yet, not summoned a single create with either Catherine or Deirdre.

Oh, Sawyer never had a say at his trial. You didn't have one at yours... or don't you remember? heh heh heh. This isn't a common court of law, young man.
-
Quit spamming for attention, Pixies. You've had your quota for a while. We need to do a review of someone new. Okay, I'm going to get on Cant to finish his account of Sawyer's trial. He never gave his defence. Just remember, his account is biased from his perspective, not mine. I would have had different things to say.

It's within the rights of students to eat bacon. It's an event from which you exclude no-one. You might catch flak, but you should not let the fear of it prevent you from doing it. Anyhow, the last time I was on campus, there was some student group, I think the Korean Christian association or something, that had some sort of pork on the menu. That was perfectly legit and no-one caused a scene. Remember, France is crazy. The folks there are willing to riot and cause mayhem for very little provocation. Now, to be fair, I think you guys should at least have the option for stripples or some other meat substitute bacon. It's easy to find, cheap, and really does make it open to Muslims who wish to join. Frankly, the beer will be a harder problem, but get non-alcoholic beer also. Just don't get much of either because it probably won't be much of an issue. Anyhow, if I lived close-by, I'd come and join the fun.

Interesting interview about the Warhammer MMORPG
Cantousent replied to Lyric Suite's topic in Computer and Console
Dammit, Gorth. I wish you lived aroudn here. I'd get a Mordheim game going with you. I used to play with a fellow who works for WotC, but he moved up to Washington. It's not like we get a chance to play anymore. -
I pretty much mow down everything with magic. Catherine was all mage all the time. Deirdre is a mage with a sword. The sword is good. It's working exactly as I intended. I use spells, but the sword comes in handy for finishing work. From what I can tell, magic rules, but that's an observation based on what different people experienced at different levels. This is especially true if you can maneuver well in small spaces.

I play the good guy in these games. I have no problems bringing the smack down on the baddies.

I'm almost at the end of another Half-Life 2 game myself. I had to stop when I started Oblivion, but it's worth replaying. This is my third run.

Ah, just one of my usual bouts of heartburn. I don't know why I was so angry about this stuff yesterday. It is true that the Church has secrets. In that regard, it's like a state. It has many state secrets and, since it has operatives in virtually every country, the church has no lack of spies. Yes, I believe open is better for these things. Let the scholars hash out this business. On the other hand, the church is acting in accordance with their stated goal and, while there is undoubtedly some subtrefuge, the church is generally concerned more with congregations and demographics and responding to the changing needs of the members than it is with these cloak and dagger things. After all, that's where the majority of the money is spent.

Maybe a reality check from mkreku? Okay, so I'm not forced. After all, Catherine didn't get as high of marks and the game was just as easy for her. Like you, she averaged 2 for each bump. Even so, I like Kasaroth's idea of making it a set amount. I'm too lazy to change it, but it's still a good idea.

Please don't go vendetta on Gromnir. ...And please don't go vendetta on me for asking. Gromnir really isn't being all that harsh. He's just skeptical over the evidence. He has a point. On the other hand, I actually do have some faith. First of all, as long as they've got someone who can write, good dialogue isn't out of reach. Bethesda has shown they listen to feedback and there are a lot of improvements apparent in Oblivion that respond directly to complaints made about Morrowind. I'm giving Bethesda the benefit of the doubt and assuming that those changes came as a result of player feedback, and so I'm optimistic that they'll fine tune the approach for FO3.

I went to see History of Violence with a young friend of mine when it first hit the theater. She thought it was awesome. I mean, totaly awesome. I thought it was okay. The best parts were funny, although I wasn't quite sure I was meant to laugh at all of them. I watched six sense again today. Great film. I enjoyed Signs even more. However, The Village or whatever the name of that last one was just didn't impress me.
-
Some options give you a few choices. I think the most I've seen are three. Other than that, I agree. The system doesn't lend itself to meaningful dialogue. I frequently skip it without reading it at all. If it's not interesting to read, I just want to get to the point and go take care of the quest.

I'm sorry for posting to one of my old threads. Wait. What's that? I have absolutely no remorse? Anyhow, to bring you up to date, I like Deirdre much better. For one this, I managed to get the face and hair right this time. For another thing, blade comes in quite handy. I've thought that maybe taking restoration was a big mistake. After all, I almost never use it for anything other than healing myself. Still, I'm going to take heal other so I can maybe keep some of the stupid NPCs alive. Also, while it's true that I tend to use restoration for nothing but healing myself, I heal myself with it a lot. I mean, unless I'm really pressed, it's all about healing spells. Alchemy works much better than mysticism, and I'm glad I took it. I still use mysticism for detecting invisible creatures and such. Also, sad as it is, I use it to bump my intelligence. It's really dreadful the way they force us to metagame. Anyhow, I like Kasaroth's idea about making it a straight 3 for each attribute. Since I can get plus 5 on any given skill by metagaming, why not just even out the scores and cut out the extraneous BS? Heh heh, I managed to get a 5, 5, and 4 for one level. I still don't know how that happened, as I've only been able to get 5, 4, and 3 at best before or since. Well, I just picked up a little something from a fort at Pale Pass. I liked the way that ended. Mad destruction skill boost there also. I could run around naked and it wouldn't really matter as long as I have good spells. Don't get me wrong, good equipment helps, but the spells make or break the mage. I'll update later.
