I was posting my character's portrait from three different angles. The inventory shows because I was using it to swap out her gear for more "elegant" clothing.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Try setting a good example by PMing the mod rather than castagting him in the middle of your thread. Unfairly, I might add. The final verdict in regards to CoC is simple. If I'm convinced they've captured the atmosphere of the Lovecraftian universe, then I'm onboard. I might wait for it to go bargain bin, though, since it's not like I'm supporting the developer at this point. -
Here's an update on Deirdre.

He was a member before he was a moderator and has the right to spam every now and then like everyone else. Play nice with meta. He's our friend. It's too bad about the demo, but I was just being selfish anyhow. If the company is out of business, then there's not going to be any support, I suppose. -
hahaha. Well, we'll find a way for anyone to play any standard core class they so desire. Any of you who've participated in various threads know how I feel about prestige classes, which isn't an issue for a two game campaign anyhow. On the other hand, you also know that I put a lot of opportunity for "prestige" like experiences for whatever class you play. My philosophy is to have fun. If we did this at my house, I'd have a big table for playing, a big fridge for beer, soda, and water, and a big counter full of food. I'm not into rules lawyering or enslaving the group dynamic to the ruleset. A few things you should know before you decide: I use an unweighted point buy system. Usually, I don't allow any attributes to go under seven unless you give me a really good case that you can roleplay it. Every NPC gets the exact same point buy system you use, and every one of them levels up in the same way you do. There are a lot of NPCs. Anyone, and I mean anyone who isn't a grunt will be a specifically crafted NPC with items, abilities, and spells generated before we sit down to play. If you die at low levels, you're dead. Magic is sufficiently rare, and any raise or resurrect spell sufficiently difficult to cast, that you won't get anyone to even consider raising you. Characters die in my campaigns. I like to keep everyone alive. I root for the party, but the campaign will punish stupidity. Finally, the vast majority of non-combat rolls are hidden. I'll make secret rolls for hiding, searching, and whatnot. Ultimately, however, I'm willing to discuss, at the very least, different ideas. I'm not implacable, so we can hash out details as they arise. I can understand if what I've described dissuades you from playing. I hope to get something started, but I think it's only fair to be upfront about these things.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Is there a demo. It undoubtedly won't decide me, but I'm curious as to how the game looks and plays. -
I'm almost completely opposite. Borringwind got old for me really fast. On the other hand, I don't really like spending much time in the Oblivion wastes. I tend to go there, cast a lot of invisibility spells, and then head strait (as possible) to the sigil stone.

I treat making money as a mini-game in every title I play. I've got over 100G, at level 27, and I've bought homes all over Cyrodil. I've paid for every convenience or luxury. mmm MMMM Good. Anyhow, I'm off to take pictures of my sweet, elven lass. I might use one of those utilities to import a different face, as I find the in program utility limiting.

If he's tried it, he probably just remembers how tough it can be to run an irc campaign. Not impossible, However. BTW, I've started a new thread for my campaign. Llyranor, I was thinking of using you to work out some campaign details. My gut instinct, considering how naturally you took charge here, is that you'd be an excellent DM. That being the case, I'm hoping to start a campaign with you and then turn it over to you. That way, the flow of the story won't suffer. Let me know what you think.

Okay, tomorrow, tuesday, and thursday are out of the question. Since Saturday is really a good day for you guys, I've done something rare and scheduled DnD for that day. Normally the wife and I go somewhere on Saturdays, that being a day we can spend together. Still, it won't kill me to take Saturday April 22. I can run a short campaign. I have a more or less standard campaign set for first level characters. I have a more or less exotic campaign set for first level characters. I'll work with you guys for a short campaign. If you like it, then we can try to work out scheduling. My experience with large groups is that it's almost impossible to accomodate everyone's schedule, but we can at least get the first two games going. We can consider the first couple of games a prologue. If you guys want to continue, I have other material already written. If someone else steps up to the plate in the interim, the prologue can stand alone as an RPG experience. At any rate, let me know. The most important thing is to let me know whether you want more or less standard DnD fare or something on the exotic side. Erotic is out of the question.

Ah, okay. Today. Getting ready to go to church. Happy Easter from Oblivion.
-
Yeah, we need someone permanent. ...And as much as I'd like to run a campaign for you guys, I'm just a bad choice when it comes to my schedule. I'm out of state a lot, mostly to Las Vegas, and I normally can't chat very long on irc. I can post throughout the day, but not the whole day. It's too bad, really, but I don't want to commit and then flake, no matter how fun I think it would be. So, let's hope for Hades. Like I said, I'll start something, should it not work out, and then we can find a more permanent DM.
-
Happy Easter, everyone.

That's so cool. I especially like Bokishi's "Cheese." Anyhow, Freelancer is a good game, but after a while it feels like the same old shoot and loot game. Now, the star wars mod was kind of cool.

I haven't installed any mods so far. I definitely should, though. I'll look into it. mkreku should post a screenie of his character, since he's got him up to level 43 or some such. As for Talryn, if we can run far, it would be tougher on the fighter. ...But if we hack it out in close quarters, then it would be tougher on the mage. Of course, the first thing Deirdre would do is show some shoulder and maybe a little bit of ankle. Then, while you were swooning, she would offer you a beer and you'd have a nice friendly visit. Okay, it's time to get back to the main quest. I have a little artifact to take back to the blades. Finally, the robe I'm wearing is the conjurer's robe that you get on the Mages' Guild story arc. I considered giving creative names to my items, but then I went with convenience. When you craft items, it's always nice to know what you need and on what item. I really should have spent more time crafting things. It's sheer laziness, and the fact that I mow things down like a wheat thresher, that prevents me from crafting better stuff. Alchemy, which I only took to bump intelligence, is sweet. My restore health and magic potions are awesome, but it's the light potions that really shine. heh heh heh. Seriously, like 101 light for... I dunno.... 300+ seconds. Some huge amount of feather for 645+ seconds. I was carrying around 900 lbs of equipment when I left the Worm King's aboad. ...And I take everything. Even if I only take it far enough to stick it in a chest in near the entrance, I swipe every item that can get me gold. There are some places in Cyrodil where an adventurer coming behind me would find no monsters and a chest near the front door containing several thousand gold worth of junk. Finally, while I find Deirdre beautiful, I'd rather protect her pretty little head than look at it. For that reason, I keep a helm on her. :D

Here's the latest word on the my Oblivion Character. By the way, I was having a hard time finding an entrance to a cave. My horse was standing there, having fast traveled with me. For the first time, Deirdre mounted the horse in order to move it in hopes that the entrance was under the horse. Moving forward, the text announcing that I'd found the entrance showed on the screen. There you have it, my horse, for once, was useful. EDIT: D'oh, Screenshot anyhow, some Deirdre goodness. You can't see her beautiful dark hair or fair complexion, but you can see all her great equipment.
-
Oops, my mistake. It's been a while since I've played. anyhow, some Deirdre goodness. You can't see her beautiful dark hair or fair complexion, but you can see all her great equipment.

Niiice, you and alan playing some Freespace. Let me tell you, that's a great game to lan. chips, sodas, and hours of pointless flying and shooting. I should put up a screenshot of my Oblivion Character. Hmm, time to look into that.

I'd suggest someone PM Hades and let him know. I'd like to get a chance to look into his campaign. Otherwise, I'm willing to go with a Friday or Sunday. I've got a lot of Campaigns already written. Luckily, I run all my games from my laptop with PCGen. I've downloaded the core reference materials and all of the monsters, items, and special properties are written into the material. Any significant adversary you face will be a generated NPC, monster or not. I tend to follow the rules in creating campaigns, but I've got a few house rules I use in order to keep things lively in the game. Furthermore, there will probably be concessions because we'll be playing on irc. Talk to Hades. If he's going to run a game, then I say go with him. If not, I'll DM. I'll clear the schedule for the first couple of sessions and then I'll have to work with my schedule. Sound good? EDIT: And I won't mind starting a campaign and letting someone with a more stable schedule commandeer it. hahaha Also, I type very fast, which helps with an irc game.

Wait, I was visited by the Dark Brotherhood again. hahahaha

What happened to Baley? He's taking this group and his only day he can't make it is next week, right? The only thing he needs to do is tell us the ruleset and get things started. The thing that really killed Ender was prep. Baley not only has his own experience on which to draw, but Ender's also. heh heh. Still that group was fun. The roleplaying was freeform. As far as the days go, folks actually showing, and on time, is probably the biggest problem. Once everyone is there, then it's just a matter of herding folks out of chat mode and into RPG mode.
-
Why don't you guys just do the Saturday thing and I'll join in just for hell of it every now and then. My schedule is pretty tight. I get little five or ten minute snips, but not long enough to dedicate. I would, however, like to know the ruleset and backstory so I can kind of keep track of things. You guys should create a new thread specifically for this particular RPG and backstory. That way, this thread can continue for folks creating different games and it's not confusing you trying to organize this particular game.

(w00t) Now, if only I could find the damn helmet and gauntlets...oh, and glass just started dropping like crazy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice work, wolfie. They were like lambs to the slaughter. I just popped in to say comment about something Deirdre did. I'm finishing up the Brotherhood of the Sacred whatever quest. Anyhow, it wasn't too terribly tough the first time, but this time... hahahahaha I met up with and he went into his whole "this is what I say right before I kill you" dialogue. I hit him with one spell and it was over. I mean, I created this spell and it mows folks down. It's almost like I need to create a non-magic user next time. Anyhow, I should revisit and update the "my oblivion character," assuming anyone reads it.
-
hahaha I love it, baley. The Vampire game had potential, but Ender never really got his act together. I missed the drama, though. I think I rember something between baley and numbers?
-
Saturdays are usually pretty tough for me. Today is kind of a fluke. Well, maybe another group of us could do a different day. Otherwise, maybe I could do an NPC on the days I'm there. Hell, I'd just be fine with watching the game as an unvoiced observer every now and then.
