  1. Well, for e, most likly they'd just resell the game bundled with the expansion. As to how to fit... They would probably be forced to dual-layer the disc, which will suck dingos for the thomson drives. However, given how close the 360 is to release, I really doubt we'll see much interest or caring for developers to put significnat funds into a release. We're more likly to see a "Remastered" version come out this holiday season for the 360 with the High Quality movies etacayada. For f, hopefully companies learn eventually not to start the hype machine too soon.
  2. And people wonder why Obsidian doesn't come out and flat out blame Lucasarts. Perhaps because they don't want to get a reputation for placing the blame on publishers? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly, although we may well be doing the job for them. [ Add ] The distinction between the fanbase holding that impression and the Developers fostering it is realistically minute. If it hurt LA's PR for them to work with them in the past (for whatever reason), then they are less likly to work with them again in the future. Troika's trouble was they continually got less and less leeway from publishers because of their 'failures', and continued bad relations with them. Of course, a good number of Troika's earlier problems were actually their publisher failing to live up to their part of the deal (Infogrammes QA should have under no reason let a bug that deletes Krnl386.dll get through). That, and development ceasing for long periods of time during the game's delays (Arcanum and Bloodlines come to mind here). Obsidian needs a solid game, given that they are doing NWN2, I suspect that they will not be as prone to a Cut-and-Run by Bioware saying they must get the game out now, and not in 2 monthes. Developing for LucasArts is difficult, especially for a premier game. It has the benefits of instant exposure, but time issues are a major pain. Just want to repeat something, I'm not suggesting that folks give OE any slack for the game. I'm just explaining why I'm tolerant and still amiable to the idea of buying future games. That and a the quirkish history of the shared development history of them and Troika.
  3. [ Edit, point was made and admitted earlier, no point to it ] Just as an aside, Troika had similarly good designers/staff working for them (they're also from BIS- gogo Fallout), and they too failed. And eventually got to the point where they couldn't get publisher support after continually blaming their publishers for the problems with their games. I'm not disappointed with K2, especially after replaying K1. I do feel that I did have an initial overhype (the bane of sequels!), and the ending is a bit disappointing, but apart from that, I'm really happy and satisfied. But I can understand others being disappointed. And I agree, don't let OE off the hook for a percieved rushed product. Perhaps it'll make them more adamant about a realistic timeframe. Or at the very least, stop dealing with rushing publishers.
  4. Yes, but (unlike Kotor2) these weren't stuffed to 640x480 for PC-version, making these look acceptable. Something I can't say of the Kotor2 movies you say. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ya know that's kinda strange, because look at the bink file. Revan's Death is in fact 640 x 360 resolution... Compared to the Khoonda Turrets Movie being 640x480... So I guess it is true, but umm, does removing 120 pixels really improve the movie quality that much?
  5. I have to agree with the assessment, when I upgraded to the 7x.xx series of drivers, I started to have trouble in Dantooine. Funnily enough, it happens in K1 too, but again just in Dantooine. It's really weird.
  6. You do realize the last two example sets you gave were Engine created cutscenes, much like the Dantooine Mercs, Visas's Cutscene, Kreia's Fall, yada yada insert other complaints about Cutscene styled movies. And I'm hard pressed to decide which fleet battle was more impressive to me, K2 or K1... Taris looked neat with the dessicated husk of a ship drifting in.
  7. Its also Obsidian's fault as well. They signed on with those buggers. Gods, I hope Feargie learns from this and never do business with them again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kind of an interesting corralary to be drawn here that just dawned upon me. Why is it that BIS spin-off companies have trouble with publishers?
  8. 2. is revealed by a number of plot elements throughout the game, although ultimately they're LS slanted, because the DS folks aren't going to really trust the folks telling them elsewise while they're chopping them down. Suffice to say, it is answered, but it might not fit how you saw your character. EDIT : What? Throne of Bhaal doesn't count?
  9. Erm, both K1 and K2 used both. Pay attention to Kreia's Cutscene interactions, those are primarily Engine Driven. I believe all of the cutscenes with Atris are Engine Driven. There were a few Pre-rendered Engine cutscenes (Visas's little scene), but again K1 used those with Bastilla early on. They just touched up the resolution enough that it didn't look like junk .
  10. Secondly, FilePlanet is owned by GameSpy, who has been purchased by IGN Entertainment. I'm not sure what this "group" is that you're talking about, but neither UGO or GameBanshee are affiliated with FilePlanet in any way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 'group' of folks who 'steal' mods are various users who think they are being helpful by placing things on a central file network. Most often without asking first, because, they are nice folks who don't quite grasp the concept of 'Intellectual Property' just yet. GameSpy has been quite prompt about removing those files when they discover that they are 'rip-offs'. At least that's been my experience with them and MW mods. GameBanshee is one of the 'smaller' (smaller in that, they aren't a Network of them) WebPresses for games. But, they are a WebPress, and unless my memory really failed me, they've had a friendly relationship with Bioware and BIS devs for quite some time, so new comments arriving there wouldn't really surprise me. Of course, that said, I'm not too optimistic with any LA related product now.
  11. Do you have any mods installed? I recogonize that file as one that gets mashed by mods semi-often.
  12. No. I really don't. Making one option 'offical' implies that it's the 'correct' one. Which is too much fun. That's actually part of the necessary evil with the BG novels that annoyed me, the novel character was the 'offical' Bhaalspawn.
  13. Is that why there are three different laser drives for the XBox? One of which has trouble playing a significant amount of the released games for the XBox(Dirty Disc Errors Away!)? And another which has trouble with playing DVD movies? A pleasant problem that MS refuses to acknowledge is actually a problem covered under their warranty. The XBox does have hardware updates besides that, as well as Firmware updates. I'm unsure if the Firmware updates can be transmitted through XBox Live or the Offical Xbox Magazine to be honest though (I don't really ever bother with either). Upgrade lines have been attempted with various consoles (See Genesis 32x + SegaCD, PS2 Network Adapter and Harddrive, GCN/N64 48 million addons). It's just that they rarely succeed. Although that is more a add-a-feature upgrade, as opposed to the suggested replace-an-existing-feature upgrade. I have both versions (big waste of 50$ ), and I do simply perfer the PC version. But then again, I like modding stuff. And while it is possible with the XBox version, it's alot more difficult because they didn't Live Enable it.
  14. Maybe LA finally got around to doing the QA for the Initial Build as well. Would explain it taking so long .
  15. Hmm, that line makes it sound alot more like an expansion to K3 (hopefully in a slightly more xbox friendly manner than MW). But will see. Time shall tell. And what is this about a Baldur's Gate 3? Really thinking you're talking about the Throne of Bhaal now, but I'm at a loss. Or did you mean BGDA?
  16. Peragus felt more like an extended Ship (K1) Tutorial to me, which I rather liked. It put the main characters into action, just a shame that the main characters slowed down -alot- after that due to time .
  17. That was what my trials and tribulations through the xbox version were for . Now mod fun time for me .
  18. Out of curiosity, do you feel the same way about Torment/BIS?
  19. I really just have trouble seeing an expansion method being viable with the Xbox version in its current incarnation. A rebundled release (ala Morrowind) is possible, but very annoying. Especially considering it would most likly include numerous bugfixes.
  20. You also get a full force restore after every 'event' regardless of your LS rating, so you don't have to be too conservative. You aren't well suited to the Hsiss exploit however.
  21. If I had to guess. Like 98% of other reviews, they were using a pre-release copy, and whatever bugs they encountered, they assumed would be ironed out before release. That or they thought they got a pre-release copy when they got the release copy to review. There's always the slight chance they played the game 'Perfectly as Intended' and encountered no bugs. As to why the guide doesn't mention bugs... I know that's because the guide was made with pre-release copies of the game.
