  1. It's because the texture resolution is slapped right down... They look like old renders did... Heh it's a rather unique vibe... You get the same thing in games like EQ 2.
  2. what the?
  3. I have a very powerful system, it is possible that they've written some code that helps scale encounters, honestly though I wouldn't lie about it, hard as hell to do, was the same when I fought the orcs on the island. I'll see if I can get a screenshot and post it... I agree where undead are concerned they do just appear to keep coming, out of nowhere, but that's the nature of undead in the game. That just doesn't work for me, a kick only buys me a second or so to get into open space. There are alot of items placed in and around the game, spike beds, traps so on... If it makes the game too easy for you don't use them. They're improvements that are indeed all valid, but i'm certainly not getting instant kills all the time, I had to deal with a bunch of zombies at one point by climbing up a rope getting on a ledge and hitting them with arrows, there were just too many. Most of the time the only instant kills I get are from adrenaline. It's strange, your experience doesn't sound like the same game I am playing...
  4. oh i've tried it, but that bored me to death and often didn't work too well for me, I often found myself surrounded. When I was fighting the goblins, I was fighting 7 or 8 all at once, it was wicked, you cannot actually kick all 8 you can kick a few and cull the ranks, you smash them with the shield and knock one to the ground but at some point, you have to actually swing the sword, hit the enemy, next thing you know one goblins ran off, you've made so much noise that renforcements are coming. I just don't understand how I am having such a great experience, I even feel challenged, I ran away from the optional cyclops, i mean geez... I don't get how someone could not have fun playing this game... Yet it appears that you've managed to achieve that, because you've gone into the game I believe with the wrong mindset, you neither want to like the game, and people keep thinking of it with an FPS attitude... Mind boggling.
  5. It's not bad, it's not great, it's made me laugh a few times...
  6. Wrong. He is a game reviewer for a European gaming site. Its his job to play through games, even those he doesn't like. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But reviewers are [not amongst my favourite people], I mean that in a professional sense, they're not quite games testers, they're not quite journalists, and they're human being and thus open to bias. Ones opinion of something is never the same as the other. While it's his job to play it, he doesn't want to play it, he doesn't want to like it. That's why his attitude towards the game is poor, and thus i would say from a professional stand point he's as bad a reviewer as any. Edit: Let's keep this from descending into personal attacks, eh?
  7. Charge + kick + kick + kick makes you a very tired boy.
  8. It get's better after the boat!
  9. Wow! You totally wasted your time writing that.
  10. I'd place alot of money on it being rejected. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> explain your thoughts, please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think they'd have a hard time prooving it to be conceptually better than other idea's. It depends if it was a cold pitch, I'd doubt that, they'd have to come up with some "cool" implementations of stuff, which are specific to the game. I'd reckon right now Mr Sawyer's brain is pulsating with a thousand idea's and add that to MCA's many ideas and "the black hound" as a concept is one of many. That all said it's not impossible.
  11. A 4? Not very good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you know the person who reviewed the game personally? My guess is no, Would you let a complete stranger tell you what music to listen to? Who to date? what kind of car/motorcycle to drive? who to have as your friends? what kind of movies you should watch? etc...
  12. It's really sad that the reviewers, with the influence they have, cannot seem to fathom that in terms of first person gaming experiences, fantasy influence, DM M&M is actually groundbreaking. Physics based magic system! (first time I've seen it done, far as i am aware first time it has ever been done) Vitrol Sword Combat! (Melee DONE RIGHT! Better than oblivion by far, and better than any other Melee implementation in any game) Thieves that climb and jump around in the roof of levels! Also Sneaking about and backstabbing usual theif stuff. (It may not be as good as the thief series, but still it's a fair enough implementation) It's the first fantasy attempt at such a game to ever actually work. And what do the reviewers go and do? Proove they know next to nothing about games, technology, and gameplay. Reviewers just wanna whine about, *sigh* something that is pretty hard for even huge developers to avoid, that of bugs, I can't think of a single game that hasn't suffered on release due to the vast myrid of different compter setups.
  13. I'd place alot of money on it being rejected.
  14. Yeah, I'd be up for that two...
  15. Really now.... So basically you're saying KOTOR is overrated because???? Really Volo, KOTOR isn't even in the same region as uber series like GTA & FF.
  16. Yay! more proof that reviewers are indeed morons!
  17. *points* *Screams* "IT'S A RABBID FALLOUT FAN! RUNAWAY! RUNAWAY!" *Runs off flailing arms and legs*
  18. Yeah, now you're just getting silly.
  19. I find the GTA series to be overrated. To each his own. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well it is... The last one I wouldn't even entertain. Up until then it was all about spree killing.
  20. Strange I wonder how they were encoded... Some kinda MP3 based format with certain parts missing I would think.
  21. Black is a sensible colour.
  22. I played 1-7, curiousity and such... JRPG's I just don't like in general, I just find FF series to be overrated... I could never stomach the combat which I have always felt to be poor. I never felt like I was role playing, but reading an average story with little interest to me, it just doesn't work for me. I'm well aware that alot of people like the FF games, and I am aware of the reasons why people like them, I can see those reasons, but for me it's just dull, much as I have found alot of anime to be dull. The FF series is what it is, but it always felt a bit too uninvolved for me. They're very cinematic, and FF has been responsible for employing some very good story telling techniques, involving emotional involvement.
  23. You mean like Britney Spears, or the Back Street Boys, or The Bold and Beautiful, or Friends, or the movie Armageddon, or Fast and Furious or Danielle Steele's books. These are all brilliant examples. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly what I mean, popularity and sales don't make something good, it does make something successful, I would not question the FF series success.
  24. My point is that regardless of the FF series popularity, it does not make them good games, IMHO they're some of the poorest of games ever due to the fact for the most part they're books with fluff.
