I just got as much Influence with her as I could from conversation, sparred with her twice, talked to Kreia (who warned me about training her, then told me how to train her if I wanted to, then told me about Handmaiden's mother), then finished my sparring with her. I offered to train her, told her that I wouldn't train her in the ways of the Jedi, just in the ways of the Force, and she accepted. I might have asked her about her mother before that, but that's all I can recall off the top of my head.

Actually, there is a way to avoid losing Influence with Kreia when using this method, but you'll have to experiment a bit to find out the exact combination. When she asks you what drives you do do such things, you have to give a responce that'll cause her to lecture you - if you choose "Perhaps you're right" as the response to the lecture, you'll gain Influence with her. Hopefully enough to offset the Influence you lost for the wanton murder.

Character: Atton Location: Telos Jedi Academy After your conversation with Atris speak to one of the Handmaiden's sisters and inquire about your friends. They'll mention that they expected some trouble from Atton because he fell into an Echani battle stance when they confronted the group at the entrance, and if you ask them where he would have learned something like that, they suggest members of special forces units would generally be taught such styles. Talk to Atton before you leave the station and ask him how he learned Echani styles, he'll brush it off and claim it was a bluff. You can press the matter, but don't call him a liar - just say that you thought it would have been a great asset and you'll gain Influence with him.

Yeah, it's surprisingly easy, actually. Handmaiden hardly needs any additional Influence gains beyond what you can get by talking to her and beating her three times in training, Bao-Dur converts fairly quickly (I only needed to gain Influence with him twice after running out of dialogue options to get him to convert), Mira doesn't need much more Influence gains outside of conversation, and Atton was the hardest, but he has a surprisingly large number of conversation options that can raise Influence (just has to be at the right place and time).

I would've put this in discussion, since it really isn't a question, but since I'm going to mention specific things about the ending... After you defeat Kreia and ask her questions about the fate of the planets you visited and what will happen to the people who travelled with you, was anyone else reminded of Fallout 1 & 2? The ending would have been so much more interesting if events after the Exile's exploits were played out in a movie with Kreia as the narrator rather than a series of Q&A dialogue - which is what it feels like was supposed to happen, but maybe it's just me. Just felt like throwing that out as I wait for my Force points to regenerate. I'm exploiting that Hssiss spawn in Korriban and I never realized that Force points don't regenerate naturally in the tomb. Thankfully I brought a Jedi Robe with me.

They're definately smoking something.

Go into the bar, it's the door right next to the pylon, right across from the entrance into the docks.

I noticed the same problem as well the first time through the game, when I kept on getting rewarded with short lightsabers. All I can suggest is save before somebody is about to give you a lightsaber and load if they give you one you don't want. If I recall correctly, there's around eight or nine quests that will reward you with a lightsaber, not including the chances you have to pick them off Sith Lords in Freedon Nadd's tomb... plus Freedon Nadd's short lightsaber, but we so hatses the short lighsabers, we do <_<
-
You get paid for each mission, and at the end she gives you a lightsaber part. I think the Ithorians' rewards are better, since they offer some gear, the lightsaber part, and a +5 to maximum force points.

Light Side mastery bonus not working
DarthPanda replied to pez's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I just checked my character and stripped him clean to see if the Mastery bonus does apply... and it does, but in a buggy kind of way. I started my character off with 14/14/14/14/12/10 attributes, applied the first four attribute raises to Constitution (he's level 23 right now), and the fifth attribute raise to Strength. With the Light Side Mastery I should have 18/14/18/14/12/10, but instead I have 21/14/18/14/12/10. I see no Prestige Feats or Powers that would add to Strength either. I believe these extra three points are coming from the Eriadu Strength Amplifier and Strength D-Package that I was wearing when I attained Light Side Mastery, which I'm not wearing now. If I equip those two pieces again Strength hops up to 24. Try losing the Mastery, equip a bunch of strength enhancing gear, and regaining Mastery. I think the bug might be Mastery is not setting a bonus flag, so its +3 is not being recognized, but when another item that does set the bonus flag to the relevant attribute is introduced, it'll figure the LS Mastery bonus in as well. -
Problem with Swoop racing - Anyone else?
DarthPanda replied to saints81's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You have to sabatoge the swoop racing droid first, otherwise it will always beat your time. And nope, no swoop bike upgrades. Would have been interesting being able to customize your bike and fiddle with power/handling/durability. -
You get the Vocalizer on Peragus from the first HK-50, the Control Cluster from the HK-50 trio on top of the Telos Academy, the Processor from the droid parts merchants on Nar Shadaar and Onderon, and the Chassis from the HK-50 trio in Vogga the Hutt's droid warehouse. So yeah, fastest way to get HK-47 up and running is to finish Nar Shadaar right after Telos.

Light Side mastery bonus not working
DarthPanda replied to pez's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
the Light Side Mastery strength bonus works for me, but for some reason no matter how high I get the party members' alignment, they never get Mastery. I figured it was just a main character thing... -
Filling in the plot holes at the end...
DarthPanda replied to Boiler98's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Didn't HK-47 state that he was created, or at least comissioned, by Revan in KotOR 1? I could swear I remember dialogue about that. -
I can't get past the Sith Temple on Duxon
DarthPanda replied to TheBestUkester's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The other party members don't have to be any further than where the Mandalorian stops, but it is strange that the alarm keeps going off. Who has the highest Stealth skill in the party, and what level is it at? -
You can find the answer to the Breaking Chain question in the library and if you investigated the tombs around the landing site some you can also figure out who isn't buried on Korriban. But if you really don't want to spend the extra effort:

chars you can get/influencing them
DarthPanda replied to Vaima's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Good luck with that, I never really bothered trying it out with Visas, since the only thing you learn from her is Force Vision. -
chars you can get/influencing them
DarthPanda replied to Vaima's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Kreia, Atton, Bao Dur, Mandalore, Visas, GO-TO, T3, and HK-47 are guarenteed party members. Handmaiden (if you're male), Disciple (if you're female), Mira (if you're Light Side), and Hanharr (if you're Dark Side) change around depending on your alignment and gender. As a Dark Side character you're limited to doing certain choice evil acts to raise your influence. Killing someone in cold blood generally prompts a "I don't know what came over me... but it felt good" response from the characters and you'll gain Influence with them; but sometimes they complain instead and you lose Influence, so the workaround for that is to have Kreia with you, she'll be the first to speak up in outrage (you'll lose Influence with her for the act), the other party member will do the "don't know what came over me" reaction (you'll gain Influence with them), then you have to placate Kreia by agreeing with her (you'll gain Influence with her... but I don't know if this evens out or not). -
Filling in the plot holes at the end...
DarthPanda replied to Boiler98's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The dialogue was quite clear about how Kreia and the Exile met, actually... After escaping Peragus Kreia explains that she was looking for the Exile when, by coincidence, she found the Harbinger crippled and inoperative. She was able to locate the Exile in the Harbinger's cargo hold because she was able to pick up his/her "faint thoughts" and hauled him/her back to the Ebon Hawk, which was shot at just as they were jumping into hyperspace (thus causing all the damage and injuries). Presumably HK-50 followed Kreia and the Exile on board, encountered HK-47 (who explains later that since the HK-50s are based on his template, his self-preservation system prevents him from shooting 'himself'), and was forced to dispose of the older model to hide his true function. He then proceeds to destroy the astromechs so that he can spin events to his advantage without conflicting testimony from the other droids, but T3 feigns 'death' and is dumped in the storage room on Peragus instead. This part is all conjecture, of course. As for how Kreia got ahold of the Ebon Hawk is anyone's guess. -
Problem with Swoop racing - Anyone else?
DarthPanda replied to saints81's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Swoop racing is a lot better on Onderon. You get 500 for beating the first set of time, another 500 when the previous winner challenges you, 2000 for the next tier, and 5000 for the last tier. You can also persuade the track owner to give you an extra 500 each time (except for the initial race) - just make sure you win when you do that, otherwise the option disappears. All this for a possible 8500 credits, not shabby at all. On Nar Shadaar, if you use your Force power to get the full prize money and not just your 'cut', you can get around 2150 credits. -
It's amusing how the two Jedi that come on board totally dominate the port and starboard sleeping quarters. There are three beds in each quarter, but Mira gets crammed in the closet, Handmaiden gets the storage room, and Atton is permanantly stuck on the bridge (not just because he's the only pilot, he actually says he has no quarters). Disciple, Bao Dur, and Mandalore actually stand in places that make sense (infirmary, garage, and strategy room respectively), so it's imaginable that they wander off to the sleeping quarters inbetween trips.

I can't get past the Sith Temple on Duxon
DarthPanda replied to TheBestUkester's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Go into stealth mode with Visas and carefully walk between the mines. There gaps are wide enough for her to weave her way through them, and after the sensor's been disabled, have Bao Dur retrieve the mines. -
Dantooine Big Fat Game Killing Freeze
DarthPanda replied to Sophrosune's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It sucks how the developers always get ragged on for decisions that the publishers make. Obsidian made the game in all its buggy glory, yes, but Lucas Arts was the one responsible for funding and setting deadlines. Not every developer has the luxury of delaying a release because there's room for improvement. All the publisher sees is a product that's finished, regardless of how polished it is, and a major holiday around the corner. -
Problem with Handmaiden and turning to a Jedi
DarthPanda replied to navarre's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
While I haven't experienced this bug yet, I'll interject that beating Handmaiden is actually very easy - just don't level her until you beat her . As a 15/7 Sentinel/Sith Lord I won easily against her puny level 6 Soldier ass, and held off turning her into a Jedi until I leveled her up to 20
