  1. can't speak to outer worlds. no doubt the publisher has input on tech support and how such will be handled. no such limits for owlcat regarding kingmaker and wotr. ignore community is a choice from owlcat. even so, "rare" engagement here on even outer worlds would nevertheless be more than is provided at the official owlcat boards. now compare pillars and deadfire to owlcat games. apples v. apples. this seems like an odd observation. am suspecting the notion obsidian has decreased opacity is not gonna be borne out by the experience o' many (most) folks who has followed their games over time. again, the most significant difference would appear to be the publisher relationship, but in general, opacity from obsidian has increased a bit from a previous highpoint during pillars development. am also gonna note issue spotting has had peaks and valleys and am not certain where obsidian is at the moment on some kinda admitted arbitrary scale. hard to imagine they is worse than owlcat. regardless, as an example, less than a couple weeks before deadfire release, obsidian finally recognized there were an issue with how might bonuses to damage were calculated. what made the recognition particularly irksome were the issue had been a frequent board topic for months. unfortunate, obsidian were less focused on board feedback compared to past titles and instead relied on game telemetry and other sources. previous to deadfire is almost certain the issue woulda' been spotted and addressed in a more timely fashion. that said, insofar as issue spotting is concerned, is doubtful there has been a linear evolution, particular as has been noted obsidian has, in the past, needed work with different publishers who no doubt had their own schemes. HA! Good Fun!
  2. converse, am pretty much gonna disagree on (almost) everything. bugs? obsidian, in spite o' issues with bugs is still way ahead o' owlcat. heck, look on this board and see how obsidian responds to bug reporting from the community. we got wotr bugs from the beta which persist and am having no idea if owlcat is even aware o' our the bugs 'cause getting feedback from owlcat anywhere but discord is improbable. wotr were much better than kingmaker insofar as stability is concerned, but is nevertheless not comparable to obsidian releases which admitted ain't particular stable. owlcat is in a unique kinda realm o' buggy, but am admitting after how terribad were kingmaker for stability, wotr actual were a welcome relief. mechanics? apologies to fans, but the actual owlcat mechanics added to pathfinder stuff is horribly broken such that we never finished kingmaker and the army campaign aspects in wotr is, at best, not good... and while we know many people love the epic stuff in wotr, is horribly broken, unbalanced and often just plain nonsensical. however, obsidian deserves criticism regarding bad design decisions, which they has a preternatural knack for blowing beyond expectations. deadfire ship-to-ship combat were extreme expensive and added almost nothing to gameplay value. deadfire itself were a commercial mistake in that in spite o' every warning sign the game had fewer people interested in the product than pillars, obsidan spent more money making a game which were gonna even further alienate those who wanted pillars to be their ideal bg3. you had a crowdfunding campaign for deadfire which brought in more money than either owlcat title, but obsidian didn't appear to notice the number o' contributors decreased substantial from pillars. more money but less people? obsidian wasted a hardcore pillars fanbase attempting to be the next d:os2... or somesuch 'cause that is how obsidian developers described their deadfire thinking. 'course this is the same developer who s'posed negotiated extra time and money from lucas to finish kotor2 as it deserved, but never bothered to get the new agreement in writing before they invested additional resources and altered their development timeline. serious. oh, and while is not mentioned in this thread as an owlcat strength or obsidian weakness am gonna note how frustrating is the relative lack o' communication from owlcat save through twitter and the aforementioned hellscape which is discord. is not as if developers owe us their thoughts and intentions, but as we referenced insofar as bugs, am having no idea if owlcat is even aware or cares 'bout a few problems with their games 'cause save for the infrequent discord/reddit/twitter communication, owlcat is bordering on willful obtuse levels o' reluctance to respond. bad design decisions? sure, obsidian wins the razzie in that category 'cause they got a curious history o' making preternatural bad moves. converse, owlcat has played safe and gave fans (most fans) what they wanted from a pathfinder/d20 game. the problem for owlcat is there ain't been a real 40k crpg to know what is gonna work with the fans when writing becomes more important. as we already noted, am pretty sure we view 40k much different than a whole lotta fans 'cause we see the satire, but much as with fallout, is a large % o' the fanbase which takes 40k deadly serious and for them there is a proper way to do a crpg. HA! Good Fun!
  3. and don't forget their weird fascination with puzzles. enigma? most o' oner's complaints is gonna be echoed by other gamers to greater or lesser degrees. we personal enjoyed wotr, but am not gonna try and convince anybody owlcat is a great developer. is also the politics angle which might offend people. with owlcat doing a warhammer 40k game, is more than a few legit concerns. furthermore, am thinking a warhammer 40k crpg is gonna be tough for any developer to get "right," 'cause in our experience, most fans do not view similar to Gromnir... most fans don't view as does games workshop. The Imperium Is Driven by Hate. Warhammer Is Not is a good argument you need a particular deft collection o' writers to strike the right balance so as not to offend many 40k fans and still remain true to 40k. owlcat is such a developer? HA! Good Fun! ps am personal trying to think positive, but is not in our nature to do so.
  4. pam grier? warning: sweary have mentioned physical similarity would make esai morales an obvious choice, but that patton oswalt is more appropriate. that said... daniel day lewis clear is in touch with with his inner Gromnir already. HA! Good Fun!
  5. HA! Good Fun! ps chaos affected our link. fixed pps am obvious choosing missionary with flame weapon training
  6. more %$#@ing shadow docket nonsense. Breaking and Analysis: Supreme Court on 5-4 Vote Reinstates District Court Order Temporarily Barring Enforcement of Texas Social Media Law; Good News for the First Amendment and Bad News for Those Seeking Law to Replatform Trump keep in mind, am not a fan o' the texas law, but is so not meant to be resolved via the shadow docket. arguable as concerning as having the issue decided w/o argument, the "activist" label for hippie Justices has been subverted by alito and thomas. "But Justice Alito wrote an opinion for himself, Justice Thomas, and Justice Gorsuch. In the opinion, Alito does not say that the law is in fact unconstitutional. He argues that the matter is uncertain, buying into the arguments advanced in the past by Justice Thomas, Eugene Volokh, and others, that social media companies can be regulated like “common carriers” (such as the phone company) and forced to carry speech that they do not like. "The argument is one that is audacious and shocking for those (like Justice Thomas, less so for a Justice like Alito) who have taken near absolutist positions on First Amendment rights in the past, especially on issues such as campaign finance laws." alito and thomas is no longer even pretending to embrace a consistent legal theory as the basis for their opinions.
  7. possible wotr related... but likely not btw, paizo has confirmed it is not HA! Good Fun!
  8. another from joe biden, the voluntary buyback guy. Biden Says He’s Limited on Guns After Emotional Trip to Uvalde, Texas - Bloomberg “I can’t dictate this stuff,” Biden told reporters on Monday. “I can do the things I’ve done and any executive action I can take, I’ll continue to take. But I can’t outlaw a weapon. I can’t change a background check. I can’t do that.” the thing is, the US ain't kanada, and unlike kamala harris, biden ain't pretending he may executive order the 2nd Amendment to its knees. on the other hand, Congress has real albeit limited options to address firearms, options they is unlikely to take after this fifteen minutes o' outrage passes same as happened following the last few public and horrific mass shootings. HA! Good Fun!
  9. gotta admit our first thought whenever we see her is, "why won't somebody fix her a sandwich or a bowl o' mac n' cheese? something. anything." we see people obvious not poor and nevertheless that skinny and it looks like a cry for help to us. HA! Good Fun!
  10. is a goodly number o' cookware and bakeware sales, but is nothing we need, and 'course the one or two items we want anyways aren't on sale. we just cut up four whole chickens, which reminded us once again how we should get a larger plastic cutting board. https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Carving-Cutting-Board/dp/B0835WTPX4/ref=sr_1_23?qid=1653938877&refinements=p_n_material_two_browse-bin%3A720783011&rnid=720779011&s=kitchen&sr=1-23&pldnSite=1 am such a cheap bastard we won't buy unless is on sale. the stuff am current using is way too small, but unless is on sale... HA! Good Fun!
  11. to his credit am gonna suggest @Guard Dog would not agree with the sentiment regarding love o' guns but rather he doesn't trust the government (of, by and for the people,) and when they come to take your freedoms, you should be able to defend yourself from tyranny. other folks who has homes in neighborhoods such as where we lived during high school (south chicago) don't necessarily love guns, but they fear the criminals who have 'em. the cops ain't gonna protect you, so if you wanna defend your family... the thing is, gd has also stated he thinks the bestest ww2 weapon is the springfield 1903, as 'posed to the m-1 garrand or other semi-auto weapons. mainstream democrats ain't suggesting taking gd's springfield 1903 away from him. the springfield and simillar weapons wouldn't even be subject to the "voluntary" buy back proposed as part o' reinstating the assault weapons ban. 'course the terrible stoopid o' the response to school shootings is the refelxive urge to ban assault weapons, as if doing so fixes the problem o' tens o' thousands o' yearly firearm related deaths. the 1994 assault weapon ban worked, but firearm deaths did not decrease and is no good evidence the assault weapon ban decreased mass shootings... however you choose to define a mass shooting. for fifteen minutes following a mass shooting, americans rage 'bout firearms and focus on the kinda firearms (long rifles) which literal account for the fewest deaths o' any firearm category tracked by the fbi. what a waste. regardless, am gonna suggest the majority o' folks who misappropriated this don't claim to love their guns, and the many americans who believe they need to protect themselves from everybody else who has guns don't particular love weapons neither. regardless, Constitution says "well regulated militia." when gd were in the marines, he had to check handguns outta the armory and requalify periodic to show he knew how to handle firearms. is weird is fewer restrictions for the "well regulated militia," which is the basis for his current firearms ownership. HA! Good Fun!
  12. got this far and stopped. joe biden's support for forced gun confiscation is as follows: https://joebiden.com/gunsafety/ "Buy back the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines already in our communities. Biden will also institute a program to buy back weapons of war currently on our streets. This will give individuals who now possess assault weapons or high-capacity magazines two options: sell the weapons to the government, or register them under the National Firearms Act." ... gosh. however, like any sane person, including many republicans, those persons who is prohibited by law from gun ownership is necessarily gonna be subject to confiscations. 18 U.S. Code § 922 - Unlawful acts scroll down to g would be beyond ridiculous to have a law which reasonable prevents gun ownership but have no way for the state to confiscate the firearms in question, no? support o' such common sense legislation and other innocuous comments taken outta context is frequent conflated with the asinine gun confiscation claims o' no compromisers. am thinking the rest o' your list o' democrat infidels is having a few folks most certain not in favour o' gun confiscation as you describe. Justice Stevens were in favour o' second amendment repeal, and voted 'gainst heller. am s'posing you see as justifying placing him in your rogue's gallery, but am only guessing. got more? if not... no doubt gd riled himself up something awful past paragraph 1, but we couldn't be bothered to read past your declaration re: heller "District of Columbia law bans handgun possession by making it a crime to carry an unregistered firearm and prohibiting the registration of handguns; provides separately that no person may carry an unlicensed handgun, but authorizes the police chief to issue 1-year licenses; and requires residents to keep lawfully owned firearms unloaded and dissembled or bound by a trigger lock or similar device. Respondent Heller, a D. C. special policeman, applied to register a handgun he wished to keep at home, but the District refused. He filed this suit seeking, on Second Amendment grounds, to enjoin the city from enforcing the bar on handgun registration, the licensing requirement insofar as it prohibits carrying an unlicensed firearm in the home, and the trigger-lock requirement insofar as it prohibits the use of functional firearms in the home. The District Court dismissed the suit, but the D. C. Circuit reversed, holding that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess firearms and that the city’s total ban on handguns, as well as its requirement that firearms in the home be kept nonfunctional even when necessary for self-defense, violated that right." not a prohibition on all firearms but rather handguns. bizarre bass ackwards history from SCOTUS led to mirror-universe decision where we is told modern handguns is precise the kinda weapons a 1787/1868 a well regulated militia would arm itself as 'posed to something like an ar-15. serious. regardless, not a blanket prohibition on firearms... "period." as we said, we couldn't bring our self to read further this time. you are so certain o' what you know and claim you are willing to fight to the death for such, but you never bother to check to see if you is actual correct in your beliefs. HA! Good Fun! ps am more than a little annoyed (albeit akin to stepping in somebody's discarded bubblegum) gd keeps demanding from us to defend joe biden. we don't like joe biden as President. joe is the ordinary kinda incompetent we expected when he announced his candidacy, but most o' gd complaints has been based on fabricated rage as 'posed to wrongs done by biden. nevertheless, am not able to accept manifest unfairness and gd makes unjust complaints 'bout biden with some frequency.
  13. ... the bitter pill to swallow is your father were right. learn the lesson o' kreia, that betrayal, by its nature, is delivered by friends, family and allies. "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you." -- original from the movie version of catch-22. HA! Good Fun!
  14. HA! Good Fun! ps is not funny, at all, but inspired by the @Guard Dog post 'bove...
  15. depending on where you live in the USA, your perspective on what is american gun culture is gonna change and not by a little. as a kid we were given lessons regarding safety, maintenance and usage o' a .22 before we had a bicycle. our experience, while not common, is hardly gonna be eyebrow worthy even today in much o' the nation where hunting is viewed as the real national pastime by the locals. edit: avoiding the double-post *sigh* HA! Good Fun!
  16. ... regardless, as usual, is more than a few who is gonna do their best captain obvious impression (though these moments o' lack o' self awareness is amusing) but is all theatre. with every dramatic mass shooting there will be the predictable fifteen minutes o' outrage followed by inaction. Congress couldn't even rouse itself to ban bump stocks following the vegas shooting and when legislators do shake off their torpor, they fail to address real problems. as mentioned already, the assault weapon ban were highly effective in stopping the use o' scary ar-15 like weapons in crimes, but gun violence and deaths decreased not at all. the US has the second amendment, and bad history from scotus justices says as o' 2008 modern handguns is exact the kinda weapon with which a 1787 (or 1868... 'cause incorporation doctrine) "well regulated militia" is gonna reasonable arm itself. serious. therefore the solution to the problem o' too many guns is to address the second amendment. good luck with that. is why @Guard Dog don't need to respond or worry, 'cause for all the sound and fury echoing from internet crusaders here and abroad, he should have no fear anything is actual gonna change. nevertheless, 'cause he is one o' the no compromisers, he does see libs lurking in every shadow, conspiring to take from him his firearms. is a position which makes little sense given how he current has more gun rights than americans has had at any other point in history post 1787. however, now whether you think harris' ideas is good or bad, the President can't do what she proposed... or at least they couldn't before obama and trump. gd's fears is not reasonable, but politicians such as harris give the no compromise people justification to continue their crusade. oh sure, kamela wants background checks today, but if she can do by executive order, then why not more serious limits? why not an outright ban on certain classes o' weapons or ammo? HA! Good Fun!
  17. watch this. afterwards is kinda tough to feel smug about being at the top o' the food chain. HA! Good Fun!
  18. *sigh* keep in mind am in favour o' gun control (albeit recognizing the second amendment makes most such efforts impotent) but the cnn article linked is more than a little misleading, and as expected, kp makes worse. if you wanna put "job" in quotes, then keep analogous and only count kid deaths while kids is in school. https://nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/indicator/a01 *feigned shock* as noted previous, suicides account for a significant % o' gun deaths in this country. "in the line of duty" cop deaths is gonna near complete remove the single largest cause o' annual cop death. am suspecting more cops die from accident than in the line o' duty, but is only a guess. is also far more school aged kids than cops. 73 freaking million juveniles, most o' whom is 'tween five and eighteen. there is less than one million cops in the US. etc. guns is inherent dangerous. duh. the only purpose o' a firearm is to kill stuff. the problem is too many republicans and second amendment idolaters won't be honest 'bout gun control. we are told people need guns to protect themselves (albeit unironic from other people with guns) and defend their way o' life from the government. is only the corrupt government which has something to fear from an armed populace, right? school shootings, suicides by handgun and domestic disputes which evolve all too fast into lethal tragedies is, for second amendment defenders, collateral damage. fine. if you honest believe the freedom to own a handgun outweighs tens o' thousands o' deaths per year, then be honest 'bout it. never happens. instead, we get ridiculousness such as is people who kill people and not guns. HA! Good Fun!
  19. ... sounds like you have issues with your wait staff as 'posed to the cops... and even if you got it right, that aspirational schtick don't have some kinda concrete meaning save what you want it to. am having no idea what were the actual situation at the school for local cops. were cops able to see into the classroom where the shooter were barricaded with students? did the local cops have any real experience with more than traffic stops and domestic violence calls? cop training is not same everywhere btw. if am supposed to bust in a room and take down a crazed shooter while avoiding collateral damage to hostages, am gonna wanna know we got some kinda applicable training and gonna wanna know the guy next to us has training too. am knowing one quasi regular poster on this board who has legit law enforcement experience and am also certain they is not gonna comment on this scenario, but we got marines with combat experience, which ain't the same. if shady or gd were sudden in charge o' a collection o' not soldiers but local police with unspecific training, and they were told they were gonna need to confront a shooter possessing body armour, semi-auto long rifles and avoid harming a whole bunch o' civilians in the room 'cause is gonna look kinda terrible if you accidental shoot any o' them, what would they want to get the job done? etc. pretend scenario is instead a fire captain or chief who orders his crew into a situation which is likely to get them injured. captain would be fired and if firemen under their command were actual killed is likely the chief/captain would face criminal charges. firemen train and have equipment which is meant to reduce the danger o' an inherent dangerous profession. yeah, is some situations where firemen is gonna volunteer to do the heroic, but such is not the norm and is actual discouraged, 'cause by its very nature, heroic is beyond the level o' danger which is considered reasonable and chances are other firemen is gonna be put in a situation to then rescue the trapped or injured wannabee hero. regardless, how many o' us would call a firemen a coward 'cause the captain and crew didn't enter a building deemed too unstable to enter? got a story where a captain orders firemen to rush to their deaths and how many would be applauding the captain's bravery? converse, how many would be excoriating the captain's willful disregard for his crew's safety? btw, am knowing folks hate the law, but scotus decisions deshaney, castle rock v. winnebago, as well as the warren v. dc appellate decisions reaffirm what should not surprise but always does: the cops don't have a duty to protect any individual citizen. 'cause o' tv and other stuff, the community believes cops got a duty to be like the President's secret service protection detail, but willing to sacrifice themselves not just for the President but to save any citizen in danger. get real. aside: am not sure what is "bravery." a woman works two jobs to support her family; goes back to same crap job every day where she is forced to eat metaphorical sh!te sandwiches from customers and her bosses, and she does so 'cause she wants better for her kids. brave? we think so. 'course at some point, if she is working same terrible jobs just 'cause is more scary than finding something better, does that make her a coward? converse, at what point is the willingness to confront potential life-threatening danger displaying bravery as 'posed to being foolhardy? can be both foolish and brave? whatever. Gromnir has had dangerous jobs with a high risk o' serious injury, but have never had to rush headlong into a situation where is certainty somebody with lethal intent would be shooting at us. am thinking in such a scenario we would want the sergeant or lieutenant, police or military, to consider our safety. call us a coward but we do not see self as expendable even if caution would look bad on tv or in newspapers. again, am not yet knowing exact what happened and who made what decisions. more than a few o' you made up you minds when we knew even less than we do today. the timeline is bothersome. wait for so long while kids is in danger don't make sense to us and am waiting for an explanation. is quite likely there won't be a good explanation 'cause is hard to imagine such a lengthy delay. however, regardless o' the facts, keyboard heroes complaining 'bout cowardice o' those involved would be amusing if it weren't so predictable... and wrong. HA! Good Fun! ps (edit) while the cops do not have a Constitutional duty to protect (much less serve,) a small number o' individual states has legislated increased cop responsibility, though unlikely to the degree any o' you imagine. vermont and minnesota is the two states am knowing have increased cop duty standards. am recalling post parkland, florida legislators proposed increased cop duty but am not knowing the result.
  20. am unsure what proof you believe you are offering. no doubt at some point law enforcement had the manpower, experience and equipment to deal with the shooter. few would question that observation. local cop leadership were quite possible wrong in their assessment o' the situation; dunno as info and timeline keeps changing. regardless, randos making judgements 'bout the bravery o' those involved is... amusing. "brains," btw, is often gonna look like cowardice to keyboard warriors. HA! Good Fun!
  21. and it's so much easier being brave a few thousand miles away with a keyboard as your weapon of choice. HA! Good Fun!
  22. you did catch the part 'bout how you likely woulda' died before reaching adulthood, yes? even then, am questioning sanity o' gd if he would rather have lived through the american civil war as a southern man, even as a white southern man, as 'posed to living 21st century USA. possible worst o' all for gd, you woulda' had fewer gun rights back then compared to today. HA! Good Fun!
  23. in the past we has used 5 gal food storage buckets to make sauerkraut during the late fall and winter months when garage temps made such feasible. work well enough. however, this previous winter we tried something new... well, new for us. we used a couple .9 gal containers 'cause once the kraut were fermented, the containers were o' a size which would fit in our fridge w/o taking too much space. with two containers we coulda' kinda rotate 'em into the fridge as it took 'bout two weeks to hit optimal kraut stage in the garage... plan ahead on when we would be out o' kraut. HA! Good Fun! ps last year we spoke o' how we save extra watermelon by freezing it as puree and we turn the rind into pickles and/or deep fry. figured as watermelon season is fast approaching, we would mention how we most frequent use the puree, other than in a fizzy beverage. gazpacho. serious. ingredients: 3C watermelon puree. (alternative, use 4C cubed and seeded fresh watermelon) 2C cherry tomatoes 1 1⁄2 C cucumber, cubed, peeled, seeded 1⁄2 red bell pepper, seeded and diced ¼C red onion, diced 2T lemon juice 1t garlic, minced 1⁄2 C extra virgin olive oil salt and pepper directions: add first seven ingredients to a food processor or blender and puree. (edit: let rest a bit after the puree stage as you are avoiding cooking and chances are your fluid is already getting a bit warm.) with blender/food processor on lowish/medium-lowish, drizzle in olive oil slow to your puree. add salt and pepper to taste. chill overnight in the fridge. ez. ... hadn't thought 'bout garnish. cilantro? maybe some kinda olive? HA! Good Fun!
  24. sounds nice but am calling bs. gd wants the water running through his property to be clean as well as the air he breathes to be less than lethal. manage that w/o government interference? he also wants the government to protect him if other and more powerful people (or more desperate, 'cause while power corrupts, powerlessness corrupts absolute) wanna take his stuff... and think o' all the stuff he wouldn't have save for the government, such as drivable roads 'tween wisconsin and tennessee, vaccines and the internet. etc. gd has a romantic notion o' world sans government interference, a fantasy based on some kinda jerimiah johnson movie setting which ignores how mr. johnson were as often as not struggling to survive the predations o' his fellow humans as well as the indifferent violence o' nature. most o' the other mountain men no doubt died young, painful and unmourned. you know where the rl jerimiah johnson died? a veteran's home in santa monica, ca. the government were taking care o' mr. johnson in his golden years 'cause the mountain man sh!te don't work so well once you hit senior citizen status. heck, life expectancy when jerimiah johnson were born were 29 years, which is misleading. the reason the number is less than 30 is 'cause in the late 1820s, like most o' history, a significant % (majority) o' children died before they reached adulthood. chances are w/o government and its benefits, gd wouldn't be alive much less posting on the internet. calling bs. gd wants his idealized minimalist government, but only in the candyland world he has imagined would exist where his fellow humans is compassionate and fair and mother nature ain't a b!tch goddess bent on his extinction. HA! Good Fun!
  25. the unfortunate side effect is those folks who is so invested in a pov or side that they cannot wait for credible info is the same folks who won't change their pov or even admit they were wrong once their hasty narratives is undermined. doesn't matter the facts in a specific case 'cause they are defending ideology or somesuch... is better to be moral right than factual correct, yes? doesn't matter if the issue is blm, hunter biden or the cops. those fighting on the side o' righteousness gotta defend the bigger truth and they see their truth everywhere regardless o' reality. 'course bias is only an issue if you are one o' those bad people on the wrong side o' an issue, yes? *snort* HA! Good Fun!
